Hit my first speedflip kickoff. Its only been an hour since watching the video and posting my inital comment! I've known how to speedflip consistently for probably about 3 years now, but your method of cancelling the directional air roll has made me consider changing my method. Downloaded the bakkesmod plugin and slowed it down to really see where I was going wrong and get the muscle memory down, then eventually sped it up back to normal and hitting it every time !!! After watching a bunch of different videos talking about how to do the speed flip I finally hit my first speed flip yesterday!! I’m still in disbelief. I thought my game glitched when I saw the ball bounce off the wall. Today I’ve hit 7 more. Hopping to understand how it feels to do it so that I can more consistently replicate that feeling. Still a little uncertain on how exactly I’m doing it but I’m so happy to finally be able to do it.
I love the additional info and explanation for the mechanics, how they work and what theoretical perfection looks like. It helps inform me of what i should be aiming to do and recognize bad habits within my execution. I've been doing what i thought were proper speedflips for months but this is the first time i could do the training pack. Thanks a lot man, love ur vids.
yo, your comment about hitting the cancel at the same time as the second jump would be bottoming out did the trick for me. Explaining the difference with the half flip cancel was really helpful as well. Thanks man! I've hit maybe 2 proper speed flips the past couple months and just hit 10x more in the past few minutes after this video. Really good work dude. Thank you!
That's dope! Glad to hear it! I realize there wasn't a good explanation of that part of the mechanic so I tried really hard to make it as simple and illustrate it as well as I could. I'm stoked it helped!
For people trying to use this training pack and having issues with the ball floating in mid-air and falling to the ground OR the timer starting at 2 seconds and then jumping to 10 seconds, what fixed it for me was going to the "Custom Training" tab in the bakkesmod plugin overlay and unchecking the "Enable custom training variance" option.
This is the first tutorial that explains it well enough that I'm able to get it on Musty's training pack consistently. FFS - thank you. My biggest issues were: pressing engine in addition to boost and not canceling straight down. These two details made a world of difference
This is one of the best speed flip tutorials out there so thank you for making it! One thing I still find missing in all of these (including this one) is really how to apply the speed flip during kickoffs and not just the different angles to use at different starting positions and when to start it (around the first boost pad) but how to counter the opponents different kickoffs, depending on if they are speed flipping or not, what angles they are coming from, and how to place the ball where you want it. A lot of my speedflip kickoffs end up with me getting to the ball first, then hitting it into the opponent and then it bouncing back onto my side of the field. I know I need to just practice and experiment more, but I think content on how to apply the speed flip kickoff would further differentiate this type of tutorial! Thanks again!
I've been trying to learn how to speed flip for so long now, I've watched countless videos and even tried changing my settings lol. Nothing worked. But less than 30 minutes after watching this video, I actually hit the ball in the training pack. Thank you so much!
This is hands down the best speed flip tutorial I’ve ever watched I’m gc2 and I been learned how to speed flip but this right here has taught me how to do it properly. I could get some proper speed flips sometimes and I realize my fingers would do it on their own but this has actually showed me what my fingers were actually doing now I have it down consistently thank you
Your method is amazing, just started practicing 2 days ago, 1 day was awful lol, the second day i could hit the ball in the pack, and today i can already do in somewhat consistently with your method... In just 3 days of practice i learned my favourite mechanic. This guide made it possible, encourage everyone to at least watch it and try his method
I have watched many tutorials and after watching those almost get the speed flip. After watching this I got the final missing piece and managed to do musty speed flip test. Thanks for detailed information what is going on and all that! Really needed this.
Last night I fell into the speed-flip rabbit hole. decided to learn it and then found out about the Musty pack. Like you Griff I am also a masochist. I ended I trying last night over 1K times in a row and staying up waaay too late. I actually started sweating and feeling sick after quite a few hours of rinse and repeat attempts. I ended up going to bed defeated and then today I decided to take powerslide off of the same button as DaR. I thought "Ill just try this time hitting powerslide as I land instead of holding it through the whole movement." I change the keybind and the first attempt something odd happened...the ball went forward and bounced off of the wall as I flew in and it finally registered in my mind that I actually hit the ball that time. I did that. After literally bruising my fingertip from holding down DaR for so long yesterday I did it. It worked. Thank you.
Just want to say, I really appreciate this video. The directional air roll hack, holding it and doing the adjustment and keeping the stick in that direction was invaluable - I've also just recently been able to hit the ball in Musty's pack, and actually twice in the same session lol. Thanks a lot!
Dude, you are literally the best, youtube is filled with bull shit about speed flips, but you went straight to the point, and told about the timings, unlike others. Good job, keep it up!
I didn't think it was possible! But after watching this, after 3 days of seeing the ball vanish I've actually hit it twice! The driving around and pushing my analogue stick up really helped showed me where I want to be pushing it! Thanks dude, major love
Man, i've been drilling this for a month and you're the first person I've seen mention not using throttle. Was barely paying attention to your video, heard that and hit my first in like 2 minutes. Good stuff.
If u have reg controls like me [x-jump,,o-boost] how to do it correct? So, im starting boosting and than leave it so go jump and back to boost or press it together? Great vid, tnx
Oh my i just for the first time hit musty test on my ps5 without speedflip plugin i am So happy man. This video i a key to learn speedflip. Man you are a legend!❤🔥👑👑
I’ve been trying to figure this out on n off probably a year. Tonight I decided no matter how long it takes, I’m touching that ball. I practiced this so long tonight I’m getting a blister.. I watched several videos. I could recite to you the exact steps, still could not get there. No one else stressed just how insanely fast the cancel has to be. I finally touched the ball. I literally cannot thank you enough.
Also the bit about letting the car settle when it spawns in probably helped too. That might have actually been the missing piece now that I think about it. Either way, two great details your video had that no other one did.
I’m not even 5 mins into this video and it’s already by far the best speed flip video I’ve ever seen. It’s my first time watching one of your vids and I didn’t even make it a third of the way through before deciding to subscribe. Keep it up.
I’ve practiced speed flips for years and could never figure it out. Watched this video, went into the musty training pack and I finally hit the ball 😢 my problem was not canceling the flip early enough. Awesome video!
Thank you this was a great comprehensive tutorial! The thing that helped the most was the bakkes mod plugin, I never realized how precise you have to be with the analog stick to get a good flip.
I can do prefect speed flip for years but I always struggle to explain it to my friends in lower rank because I personally don't know the exact theory and other elements behind it and after watching this video, I finally understand it, thank you.
Hey Griff, I'm happy someone like you is making tutorial videos, I have the same mindset as you about perfection. The thing about this game that keeps me coming back is how bad I am at it. I've watched many tutorial videos and they're really mostly done for views but this is the first one that is informative. They tell you how to perform the mechanic and then say practice for 1000 hours, which isn't wrong but it is time wasted blindly piecing together a mechanic instead of having a consistent base and underlying understanding. I watch pros play and try to study their movements because to me, there is no secret to their method, just a set of inputs executed very well according to memory, which can be done by anyone if we knew exactly how to perform the same operations. The most fascinating part of watching pros is their level of car control and if you ever get a chance to make another tutorial video there is one level of control in particular that is stunning and possibly the hardest to learn which I am currently trying to figure out myself. The mechanic is recovery and control after and during a dodge, which sounds simple but pros have full control over where they dodge, how they recover from the dodge and align themselves towards the ball almost instantaneously. Now normally they flip cancel but there is a time when your flip cancel runs out and your car goes back to taking the normal input, but during a flip cancel you can also orient your car a certain way by canceling the flip cancel as well (lol). If you could break this down that would be great, but if not I understand now from your aerial video that all things are best learned by performing single (if possible) variable actions (such as stick positions) and building the comprehension of that path. Thanks for the videos, you are up there with Rocket Science.
Thank you so much for the kind words and the suggestion! It's all part of the plan, actually. Without giving too much away, this is all culminating towards a larger vision of car control mastery that I hope will build into what I have envisioned. Recoveries are coming! I promise, but we just have to build a few more layers before we get there. Otherwise, there's too much potential for food to be left on the table.
Console player here, been doing speed flips for about 6 months,, I’ve watched every video out there,, I have been canceling diagonally the entire time,, I will try the straight south cancel tonight!!!
This is the best speedflip tutorial ever i kept failing cuz i would use accelerate instead of boost this got me speedflipping by my third attempt thank you
Where have you been all my life! I hope to see more content like this from you. You have quite the gift for explaining things in an easy to understand manner. I, as I'm sure many others, thank you.
omg thank you so much, i watched so many videos, and tried for 4 weeks but always didnt got it. Finally thank you i hit 10x the ball within 10-20 minutes.
Seriously amazing breakdown. As a mouse and keyboard player I'm a little sad, but I love the incredible detail you've put in here. You've definitely earned my sub
Amazing job! The way you speed flip and the way you teach others is almost exactly how I taught others as well! For almost a year I've been assigned the "speed flip coach" on another you tubers discord and since then I've helpen about 60 people get it down, using the bakkes mod plugin you used, plus slow motion, plus I use they way you speed flip as well, holding ARL and holding the stick slightly to the right. This tutorial will help a lot of people and I will point people who ask me to help them to this video!
That's dope to hear! Thank you so much for the kind words and I appreciate your support. I'm thrilled you can have a resource to give people now when they ask if you aren't available to help. Hopefully this helps as many folks as it can. Feel free to keep in touch! I'm always looking for others in the education circle to flesh out and bounce ideas off of.
Haven’t even went on rocket league to start to learn yet but this is amazing how u described it because I’ve never really known how they worked. Il remember u when I’m pro!
Thanks dude. I've been watching other videos on the speedflip, and how you have to have your stick diagonal to cancel it. I couldnt do it well at all. Aiming it down fixed the problem for me, can easily repeatedly do it now. I appreciate it man
I hit GC with a scuffed speed flip (couldn't hit the ball in the training pack). With all your instructions and the plugin for bakkes i started hittin the ball pretty easily, Thanks ALOT man! i've watched some videos before but never could get the timings right.
I’ve been subbed to you for a while since your mawkzy flick tutorial but never bothered to watch this video (man I wish I did sooner) I’ve seen countless videos on how to speedflip and I actually already used the last method you showed but I still could never touch the ball and today I decided to spend some time in Musty’s pack and realized I didn’t understand when I should be using my air roll left (previously I would do my adjustment to the right on the ground and tap air while I put my joystick straight up and down) and after watching your video I hopped back in the back and after no joke 10 mins I touched the ball you should’ve seen my face I couldn’t believe it thank you so much! Now that I understand I was positioning my joystick wrong and that I don’t need to do the adjustment to the right on the ground I think I can actually build some consistency (just breaking the old muscle memory is gonna be challenging) anyways I can’t thank you enough!
Dude your tutorials are always so in depth and leave out no details. I absolutely love it because you give us every bit of information we need to learn something. speedflips have been an arch nemesis of mine for mechanics. I like to think i have decent mechs for a c1 (nothing super insane though) but I've absolutely been super stuck any time i try to learn how to speedflip. There always seemed to be minor differences in different tutorials and i could never figure out what worked for me. In about 20 minutes after watching your tutorial, I've managed to pass the musty test 3 times running at half speed. Haven't gotten it full game sped yet, but it's progress, more than I've had before. Though I still get kinda confused that sometimes i fail even when everything is in the green, but ive also passed when everything is yellow (using the bakkesmod plugin)
Again with a straight banger. Keep up the good work I'll keep commenting. Watched your air roll left tutorial and now I can use it in game after only a few weeks. Watched your mawkzy flicks tutorial and I actually feel like I know how to flick (the part about where on the car you should flick the ball, and the distance from the CoG of the car to the ball for power just made so much sense). Now time to be a speed flipper (btw, started a year and a half ago and just reached c1 with almost no mechanics. Hopefully you'll get me looking a little flashier :))
I was trying to learn a speedflip, and I did hit is but very inconsistent. This is a great vid and I finally can practise on consistency with this third method since that works so much better for me. Thank you!!
Woooow, man. I've been working on the Musty speed kickoff for a month, and I've gotten a few of them, but very rarely. The problem was definitely the confusion between which direction to cancel. There's certainly some confusion about the direction to cancel among the other tutorial creators. But man, taking your advice about canceling straight down, i can immediately tell that you're correct about cancelling straight down. The amount of torque it generates is night and day. I just got a pro controller last night that has a really apparent position for absolute directions on the stick, and when I mash it down, I can def feel myself being torqued forward upon the cancel. Your channel is among the very best of tutorial channels on all of UA-cam, and I could watch your videos for months, as that all have so much golden knowledge, and it's all backed up with enough rock solid explanation to make it work and avoid horrible habits, like cancelling to the side 🤦🏻♂️ thanks so much.
This tutorial brought up a really key point. Your thumb's positioning will dictate how consistent the flip cancel direction is (ideally straight down as you said). What I noticed is that hand posture is a major factor in how consistent that cancel is. By putting my left hand a bit further down on the controller (shortening the grip a bit to straighten the thumb - this avoids having too much horizontal angle on the left joystick) you can have a more vertical cancel. The only problem is, I don't know how sustainable it is vs other hand placements - meaning how sore/tired your thumb will be after a long session vs other methods.
if you are struggling with canceling the flip fast enough try pressing your jump button with the middle of your thumb. and try not to let your thumb off the button while double tapping it.
Hell yes Griff, thanks a bunch for the video, even though I already know how to speedflip, your tutorial helped me go over the basics again, and now I can constantly do speedflip kickoffs🙌🏼✨
This tutorial was great. For the fisrt time ever i hit the ball on that challenge despite feeling that i kind of have the flip down. The big issue was using throttle instead of boost.
Very poggers, and thank you for including a section about us KBM players. It's really hard to find good KBM specific tips, and it's hard to know what things translate between controller and keyboard.
So, it is true that the directional Air roll method indeed works. It's just about joystick position. Also, thanks to you I realized that I'm not cancelling fast enough my flip. I'm cancelling right after I finish my second jump or when I release my jump button what this cause not timing it ideally. Now, I know that I have to cancel it at the same time I press second jump. This tutorial and the one for how to air roll are by far the best I have seen so far.
8:30 mate. two whole years ive been trying to work out why i could never reach the ball in the training pack. within 30 seconds of hearing this i hit it. jesus
Okay, so just like your air roll video, I've learned the speed flip too now from you. This channel has turned to a one-stop-shop for learning stuff fast! I've been trying through other tutorials but could never do it, not even 1 hit. After watching yours, it took a total of like 30mins and I was hitting them super consistently. Had to remap an air roll to rear paddles though. Can't hold square and jump (X) simultaneously lol
the fact that its not hard to train since he explained it so easily and especially since im plat makes it all easier❤ although directional air roll still catches me out since iv gotten so used to normal air roll😂
These tutorials are crazy indeed, i can only repeat others, but i still feel like i have to 😀 The amount of details you put in them while keeping it easy to follow... That's just fully understanding how to teach others. A rare ability. I learn music at university and i always recognize more and more similarities at learning things and practicing both on my trumpet and in RL. And after having so many different trumpet teachers, i always felt the huge ascension at the level they taught me on and how easy things became to understand just by explaining differently. And as i said, i definitely feel like you have that ability to teach well, and you putted in the time and effort as well, which brought these cool tutorials to life. (Sorry for grammar mistakes i may've made, and much respect for you!)
Accidentally taught myself method 3 a while back before I knew what a speedflip was. I remember hearing about speed flips and looking up a tutorial, just to realize I already used speed flips in my gameplay, just using air roll to do a diagonal flip, and then canceling and adjusting to land.
i love you, straight to the point, actually gives a step by step method on producing repeatable results, with the degenerate nity grity infos. You remind me of the good ole days of 3kliksphilip for csgo

You're most welcome and I'm stoked to hear this helped you!
If you can’t do the training pack isn’t it not a proper speed flip?
yo, your comment about hitting the cancel at the same time as the second jump would be bottoming out did the trick for me.
You're most welcome!
This is hands down the best speed flip tutorial I’ve ever watched I’m gc2 and I been learned how to speed flip but this right here has taught me how to do it properly. I could get some proper speed flips sometimes and I realize my fingers would do it on their own but this has actually showed me what my fingers were actually doing now I have it down consistently thank you
You're most welcome! Glad it could help.
You’re most welcome. Super excited to hear this helped you.
You’re most welcome! Glad it could help
I didnt even know this plug in existed till today. Finally I have something to tell me what I'm doing wrong. You a real one thx!
Glad it helped!
@@EpsilonUnitGaming that’s awesome to hear! You’re most welcome and I’m glad it helped
I’m not even 5 mins into this video and it’s already by far the best speed flip video I’ve ever seen. It’s my first time watching one of your vids and I didn’t even make it a third of the way through before deciding to subscribe. Keep it up.
Wow, thank you so much!
Glad it helped!
I can do prefect speed flip for years but I always struggle to explain it to my friends in lower rank because I personally don't know the exact theory and other elements behind it and after watching this video, I finally understand it, thank you.
lol. u could do it perfectly but struggle to explain... vice versa for me, haha
@@Grifflicious Awesome man, looking forward to your car control revolution!!
Your content is mad under rated. This tutorials are way good bro
I appreciate that! Thank you so much.
I've watched dozens of videos and I've never managed the speedflip, but with this one I manage it in just a few minutes
Console player here, been doing speed flips for about 6 months,, I’ve watched every video out there,, I have been canceling diagonally the entire time,, I will try the straight south cancel tonight!!!
Best tutorial ever fr! 🎉 helped me hit my first speed flip on the musty training pack. This bakkes mod pack is the secret all the pros use fs
You need more subscribers, this is (by a very large margin) the best I've ever seen a speed-flip, or how to execute one, explained.
This is the best speedflip tutorial ever i kept failing cuz i would use accelerate instead of boost this got me speedflipping by my third attempt thank you
You're most welcome! Glad I could help. Hope you'll check out the others I have. Always trying to pack as much good stuff in them as I can!
Thank you, bro. Other tutorials really don't sufficiently explain the speed flip
Glad it helped
Incredibly detailed video; better than the larger creators!
really enjoying the brainy approach you have to teaching various rocket league mechanics. good shit!
You’re most welcome! Glad it could help.
This is the exact, non bro-science info that I want. Thank you so much. 🔥🔥
I had given up on speed flips until I watched this. Thank you!
Glad I could help!
This is the best tutorial for speed flip i have ever seen
This is extremely useful, thank you for such an in depth tutorial especially with the "how it should feel" part when actually doing it, amazing vid
You're very welcome!
This is the kind of detail I appreciate, thanks so much
You're most welcome!
I love hearing these comments. This is so awesome and I'm glad you were able to learn it! Congrats, my dude!
HOLY YOU POOSTED IM SO GLAD
Great work man ive also been obsessing about the perfect speedflip for months now hahaha
Dude I just want to say you're freaking insane bro. I love it. I look forward to watching more of your content.🎉
Your tutorials and breakdowns are something else. Your tutorials are by far the most helpful ones I've come across!
Please keep up the great work
my guy needs more subs ! ive always heard to cancel in opposite direction and my speed flip was so slow, thanks for the re-programming lol !
FINALLY! A speed flip tutorial that acknowledged you can only cancel vertically. Thank you my fellow nerd!
I still can’t do it
me too
Y'all are dumb
if you are struggling with canceling the flip fast enough try pressing your jump button with the middle of your thumb. and try not to let your thumb off the button while double tapping it.
@ShimeeH I'm sorry for saying womp womp. I apologize for my rudeness, and I hope you accept my apologies
@@Editz_Of_Nature hi I’m streamlinelight
12 fucking videos later, this guys tutorial actually told me what i needed to know
Hell yes Griff, thanks a bunch for the video, even though I already know how to speedflip, your tutorial helped me go over the basics again, and now I can constantly do speedflip kickoffs🙌🏼✨
Awesome video, very in depth. I didn’t realize how fast you were supposed to cancel the flip.
Thank you! Yeah, it's gnarly and that's why I really wanted to emphasize it because I don't feel like anyone really does it justice.
wow so much detail amazing work.
Brooo, tysm it took me 3 hours with 42% game speed but I finally hit it twice!!
Just discovered your channel, you've got some of the best instructional vids on RL i've seen. Granted I'm a scrubby Plat with 800 hours
Rank is irrelevant. We're all trying to get better.
This tutorial was great. For the fisrt time ever i hit the ball on that challenge despite feeling that i kind of have the flip down. The big issue was using throttle instead of boost.
Best RL tutor out there
This dude is genius
the best tutorials on youtube!
@4:03 i swear these youtubers stress so much in pulling the analog right down opposite in the direction of the speed flip. Your a SAVIOUR MAN!
Just doing my best. I appreciate you!
Superb video! Note that XBox controllers allow for more precise vertical movement with the left stick due to ergonomics.
Very poggers, and thank you for including a section about us KBM players. It's really hard to find good KBM specific tips, and it's hard to know what things translate between controller and keyboard.
My tm8 hit it after u video, the video also make me more aware of how it works thanks a lot, may God bless you
So, it is true that the directional Air roll method indeed works.
Thank you so much! I'm glad it could help!
yeah like the best speedflip video ive seen great job
8:30 mate. two whole years ive been trying to work out why i could never reach the ball in the training pack. within 30 seconds of hearing this i hit it. jesus
Awesome guide! I’ll have to learn it. Most in depth guide I’ve seen
Very very good tutorial i already had a perfect speed flip, very op for just speed and kickoff its good too.
Thank you so much! My passion is education so being able to do this for a game I also love, is a privilege and one I enjoy doing.
Thank you for the kind words! I'm happy it was helpful.
If you have paddles, directional air roll is incredibly easy. I learned it in under 10 mins (obviously then refined it over many hours if gameplay)
