- In this video I'll show you how to downsize jeans to fit you perfectly, by resizing the waist and legs like a professional.
In this tutorial I'm working with oversized XL men's jeans and turn it into a well fitted women's jeans, with frayed hem.
So this is my brother's old jeans ( thrifted) , he no longer want it, so I decided to make good use of it! ( It's a thrift flip I guess ) .
I will humbly say that I like the final results.
You can apply what you will learn here on any thrifted vintage pants or thrifted jeans.
I take in fabric from 3 places: the sides by that I mean both sides at once, the center back and by creating 2 darts that will be hidden in the back pockets.
You will also see how you can Diy frayed hem.

Great video. I wanted to see the results of the back pocket area and the dart - but your hands were in the pockets so we could not see. And on the sides, where you cut away fabric at the hips - I noticed the little rivet was still there - so I wonder how you could run the Serger along that line, since the rivet was going to be in the way - but in the final result, it seemed like it moved inward, closer to the midline. However, I really liked how you worked your magic. Your sewing skills are very, very good.

very nice video, good info. Only thing i would have done different is the waisteband i would have devided it under the middle belt latch and cut the same amount of excess on both sides :-)

That's maybe because the pockets stick out after :-( I followed the tutorial for this part, but I will try to resolve the pocket problem on my own.

You didn’t show the backside ): not being perverted, I wanted to see how the darting looked, if it blended in well or not on the rear pockets. You showed the back but your hands were blocking the dart stitch you made ;;

Can you show what the back of the jeans looks like with this method? I would like to see it before I attempt taking so much out.. I don’t want my pockets to sag or the middle seam to pucker. Thank you for sharing!! Jen
I wanted to see too but her hands are in the way at the end. It definitely looks as though the pockets were removed for the alterations and then replaced again at the end.
I think you can sew the darts without removing the pockets as the large part of the dart is well above the pocket, and you fold thé fabric avoiding thé pockets

Great video. I did notice that the footage of the back dart showed a 6 cm width, which had been corrected in later shots. Also, you must have removed the back pockets before sewing the dart?

I have a lot of jeans. I want to take up the waist and hem them but scared to start because I don't want to mess them up lol. You make it look so easy.
hhhh Honestly it's not that easy you really need to pay attention to the details! well may be you should start by your less favourite pair of jeans and once you are happy with the results then you can downsize the other ones!

Why not, after measuring the waste, cut the band in the center back under the loop and stitch the loop in place or do withou❤t the center back loop to keep the original button hole and button placement?🎉
Oooooo this is so good! Just one question though, I know you used 2 approaches, but is it fine is I only use the sides to adjust the pants? I only have one butt pocket and I don’t want the darts to be supper noticeable on my corduroy pants

I want to completely tear them down and re-sew, As I think I could do the best job doing it the long way,
These are so thick and soft I want to save them,

I would first wash them to see if they come back to their original size. If they don't then proceed.
