Verify: Is camping in Missouri state parks now illegal?

A new law in Missouri states "No person shall be permitted to use state-owned lands for unauthorized sleeping, camping, or the construction of long-term shelters."

I am sick of the public being kicked off public lands we are all citizens born onto this planet we should be able to have access to all we need to live athough those who are homeless and drug abusers sometimes abuse the land too which isnt good

It means that you can't backpack into a state park and camp in the boonies without permissions. You can't build you survival shelter on State land... You CAN still camp at ANY campground that is set up. This is what approved land is. This is to prevent homeless from building campsites or shelters on State owned land.. They do not use "leave no trace" type camping and generally leave a HUGE mess behind that ruins the park areas for others.

Key word there, unauthorized. By having campgrounds open, the state is authorizing you to sleep there so long you reserve your site and pay for it.

terrible coverage this law absolutely does outlaw camping and can be used against anybody who puts a tent up in public lands. 😮 you should be ashamed of yourself for this coverage.

Why do journalists have such difficulty with the English language? The key word is unauthorized. Authorized such as paid for camping is still allowed.

authorized means camping in an actual park that allows camping, it often is free
