    I highly recommend the keto diet, I have been following this diet for almost 8 months and I've lost 42 pounds with very little exercise. I had been struggling to lose weight for a long time until one of my co-workers told me about keto.

    Yoga was my saving grace for back pain. If you are regular about it, it is a great workout but also supports better mobility. I feel you on the sweets, it really does almost border on an addiction. It is my goal to cut back and eat more whole foods, get my sweets from fruit.

    Julia look into 80/20 rule. It’s not a diet it’s a way of life everything in moderation. You eat clean healthy food. Give yourself 20% the things you like as a treat.

    My goal this year is baby steps - I don’t want to get too ambitious and then fail. My goals are no desserts on weeknights (like you, I eat fairly healthy but we have desserts every night 😬) and a once a week yoga class. Once it gets warmer I look forward to taking my dog on longer daily walks again - he is too small for long walks in the cold, unlike Odin, and I miss that half hour of walking every morning. Good luck with your goals! Your veggie-centric meals inspire me to try new vegetables and preparations!

    I love when you post food videos, so I'm looking forward to that! You always have nice, simple recipes that taste amazing. A goal of mine this year is to be more consistent with my healthy eating and exercise because I tend to fall off for long periods too often.

    I have a bad back and I do physical therapy exercises 5 days a week which involves free weights. This has drastically improved my back. I run 3 days a week and I can run without knee braces or back pain now. I went to physical therapy for 6 weeks and they told me if I can continue with this basically for the rest of my life I will have less back pain and they are so right. I am also building muscle in my arms and abdomen. I also get deep tissue massages once a month and that helps when I throw my back out and helps to reduce the amount of times my back spasms.

    I did crossfit for 2 years and stopped for many reasons (feeling that my body is not ready for such hard training, got injured on my shoulder from overtraining- i go to gym now)
    Hope you find your way that works best for you (yoga is great too)

    I suffer from chronic back pain too. Because of it I had to quit exercising couple of times last year, but I never stopped trying. I know this is not going to vanish fully but exercise really helps and I know how it feels to be in constant pain all the time. It really affect my day to day life, but I try to look at the brighter side of life. ☺️

    Yeah, Fit Friday. I'm kind of taken aback by your gym experience. What kind of BS is that where they punish you for missing a class, a classic humiliation tactic. Listen to your body and do what's right for you, the last thing you want is an injury by an over-zealous trainer. My good friend has a rotator cuff injury because of a trainer pushing too hard, and it's a life-long affliction that effects range of motion. I go the the YMCA, you pay a monthly membership and all the classes are free. Not sure what you have in Switzerland. The two classes that I personally love are "yoga" and "belly dance". Yoga is so good for your body, mind and spirit -- the body just feels really amazing afterwards. "Belly dance" is such a blast, it's so fun and uplifting - good for toning your core muscles. I know these aren't as intense as weights, but I like to do something enjoyable too.

    • @juliagraf
      @juliagraf 5 років тому

      It’s to punish you for taking away a spot from people on the waiting list for the class. The classes book out and it’s not fair to be a no show if someone else wanted to go at that timeslot. You can cancel without repercussion up to 6 hrs before the class starts.

    Go, Julia, go! You can do it! And you are right, food is more important that exercise. Just try to skip alcohol and reduce the sweets (swap them for fruits or healthy snacks) and you'll see results. I also have back pain and can't run anymore. Now I get bad pain after walking 4km. The 10km runs are far gone :( But I'm doing fizyo, stretching for the back and yoga and that helps. I want to start swimming too.

    Hey Julia, ich hatte selbst lange kronische Rückenschmerzen. Eine Ärztin hat mir, nach langen probieren verschiedenster Dinge, damals zu Pilates und Akupunktur geraten. Ich hielt das damals für einen absoluten Witz, da ich ALLES versucht habe (bis zu den stärksten Schmerzmittel). Doch bei mir hat das echt geholfen!!! Ich bin mir sicher, du hast bereits einen langen Weg hinter dir und ich weiß, was kronische Schmerzen mit einem machen können. Dies ist bloß ein Tipp und das gute ist, die Krankenkasse kommt einen meistens entgegen, wenn man solche Dinge wie Akupunktur probieren will. Ich hoffe, es ist auch etwas für dich und das es dir helfen kann. Es ist kein Wundermittel und absolut Schmerzfrei ist man daduch auch nicht zwangsläufig, aber es hilft. Viel erfolg auf deinem weiteren Weg!!

    Did you try massages? Not the normal ones, whole body massages preferable thai massages. They look at the whole body not just one part and while the day after you feel so sore, it really helps on the long term.

    Happy New Year Julia!! One quick comment on your lower back pain. Try to see if you can find a chiropractor in your area to get your spine checked. I went through the same process and after yoga, losing weight and getting more fit I still had the back pain..so I went to a friend's office and he found I had something on my back. After 3 months of back stretching with him the pain was gone. And I have the routine to do at home. It's similar to yoga. I hope this helps you!! ☺
