Saw this 9 yrs ago and here I am today witnessing what he said
shout out to Haffie
@leejae Is that a logical reason to down-thumb the introduction of life changing breakthroughs?
Here we are in 2021
Wasn't as extremely informational as i hoped
I want to be studied, I've never had a flu shot and I've never had the flu (as far as I know neither have any of my genetic siblings). I'm not arguing with this knowledge in anyway shape or form, I just think we need to start studying the people who don't get sick and figure out why. I think it could possibly be a quicker solution. I am probably wrong though it's an idea.
And there'll be even more people i.e. increasing that disease
@welshblondie
In the case of weakened or dead HIV injection does not work as it mutates to rapidly. The speaker claimed the best method would be antibodies which are special proteins. Proteins are nonliving material that you eat every day.
@ScientiaVeritasEtLux Funny I was reading this page 2 hours ago but noticed it still lacked a preference to HIV causing AIDS. I'll be sure to read the rest of the site and get back to you. Thanks.
@mottdog2002 Those molecular techniques would often fail to detect HIV because the virus mutates so quickly..... that's the point of the TED talk.
professor haffie y u do dis 2 us ?
POV: Watching this in the middle of a international pandemic
THE Haiti? man this cut my appetite 50%!
Thumbs up if you're watching this because Professor Haffie told you to...Go Mustangs!
okay, what is the "other" bacterium they are slicing that piece of flu virus on, and why is he comparing it to yogurt and calling it growing like bacteria does when it is a virus and I always thought that viruses were very different from bacteria??
In this TED Talk, Seth Berkley explains the importance of developing a vaccine strategy for HIV and the flu. He highlights that both diseases are major global health threats that require innovative approaches to prevent them. Berkley explains that vaccines have played a critical role in reducing the spread of many diseases, but HIV and the flu present unique challenges in terms of vaccine development. He argues that a combination of approaches, including basic research, clinical trials, and new technologies, is necessary to overcome these challenges and develop effective vaccines.
An ethical principle that is discussed in this talk is the principle of beneficence. Beneficence is the obligation to act in the best interests of others and to promote their well-being. Berkley argues that developing effective vaccines for HIV and the flu is crucial to promote global health and prevent unnecessary suffering. He highlights that vaccines have been one of the most successful public health interventions in history, preventing millions of deaths and improving the quality of life for many people. By pursuing vaccine development for HIV and the flu, we can fulfill our ethical obligation to promote the well-being of others and prevent needless suffering.
Small matter, but when did we stop pronouncing the letter h?
@nublex hehe... You put a smile on my face this morning Igor... Wishing you a fantastic day ;-)
@47f0 its sad how people take new technology for granted, or even distrust them once it gets so widespread that the positive effects of having it (or the downsides of not having it) isn't so obvious anymore.
I thought the cure for HIV was concentrated cash? About $180000 in liquid doses.
@part2themovie
umm but what's the problem with having a name for a virus and a name for a disease? the common cold virus has its own name (rhinovirus, coronavirus)too. Would you argue that the common cold has no causative connection to the viruses?
And what do you mean by no clear connection? a couple of minutes of searching on the web will give you some clear connections.
And what is that prediction of cancer experiment? I want some elaborations
@mottdog2002
- Failure of every vaccine trial
- Failure of every microbicide, even those containing antiretroviral drugs
- Constant number of “HIV-positive” Americans for three decades
- Constant demographics of “HIV” by age. race, and sex
- No actually observed sexual transmission
- Condom use has no effect on incidence of “HIV-positive”
- Pregnant women more likely to become “HIV-positive”
- Health-care workers at no risk of infection
@PattyGilMo ...Also, AIDS patients don't have a strong immune system, so they're more likely to pick up new infections or not be able to fight cancers properly. Common killers were identified over time and found to be linked with AIDS.I don't understant your problem with that part.People have large variation in response time to any disease, but all HIV will progress to AIDS given time without treatment.PUBMED is a good source for peer-reviewed science in current HIV research if you want to look.
@florencelovme
", I can only go and think that it is a result of my MMR shot when I was 11"
This is you trying to build a false correlation I had nothing to do with it.
If you are not assuming things from lack of research then how did you make that correlation?
I love TED!
@vinny111 I have studied immunology. I also have direct experience working with blood material harvested after vaccination and have observed how the repertoire of antibodies produced changes in response to the vaccine (in short, the mechanisms of acquired immunity). What you are telling me is like telling your auto mechanic that your car engine is driven by mice. I would not waste my time writing this if it were not so important.
@Chumkil No , I rest my case.
You cannot see past establishment BS and when they will do anything to try to shut someone up
@kingofcodmw2 It's quite cynical to think he has motives of trying to strike fear or something. I found the talk informative about a handful of diseases, vaccines, and innovations in that field.
@WyldOrbit im sorry i cannot follow a logal discussion with you sir..
So what happens when these diseases overcome these new vaccines and mutate into something worse?
@florencelovme
I never said it was not a possibility you were making a incorrect correlation as I pointed out previously.
"And since this link has already occurred then there Must be something factual about it."
What evidence do you have for this link?
Great subject, but the speaker is a bit boring.
@Gameboob Where's the pneumonia come from?
@niamhdowling That is a bit of twisted logic. People in third world countries have more children to offset the death rate, help with crops and care for them in old age. It was that way for many thousands of years. Death came from disease, starvation and war. It wasn't a nice balance but it was balance. Then came the missionaries and do-gooders. Each 'educated' them in what they believed was right. When famine or disease struck, their help= overpopulation, more disease, resource depletion
@kissmyfarmer
Disease isn't "good for population control", in countires where disease is rampant people need to have more children to ensure they'll have children who survive to adulthood to care for the parents when they are old. That's a major reason first world birth rates are lower than developing countries. Vaccination programmes will help curb high populations. As well as alleviating human suffering, which is important.
@Chumkil AIDS hasn't been around for a long time, good sir. The second I heard someone being called a truther with a negative connotation attached I knew I had to do some digging.
@taeyeonlover there is no over population. in fact without plagues, genocide we'd really be in shit, especially with our economic, political, and humanitarian paradigms that seem to require that the larger portion of the population remain in an exploitable state
HIV and vaccine denial in a TED video comment section?
@Kargoneth Yer , you have everything back to front mate. Theres a word for that
@florencelovme You do, but you're not understanding the point: There is no positive correlation between inner ear drainage and vaccines. Likewise, there is no positive correlation between autism and vaccination.
The difference between you and I isn't conditions. It's that we both have equal evidence for our cases and you actually think you're right.
You have your right. You're still wrong.
@jidar I couldn't agree more.
WTF is it with people blindly parroting some piece of BS they've read on the net somewhere and then calling people who read actual scientific research 'sheeple'?? Yeah, right - way to use your critical facilities! No-one puts anything untrue on the websites/forums you like, but the entire scientific community has managed to overcome the huge logistical organisational/co-operative hurdles, in secret, in order to conspire to pull the wool over the eyes of us poor schmucks...
Love the TED vids ^_^
@florencelovme That's it? That's the *only* reason you can think of? Inherented doesn't mean both of your parents display anything, but we're still trying to determine what causes these kinds of conditions.
What we *do* know is that vaccines don't cause autism and not using them is undoing one of the biggest life savers that human beings have ever come up with. Ever.
@Lily2U1515 He didn't explain that well. In this case a protein on the outer coat of the virus is what we want the immune system to see & attack. The gene for that virus outer coat protein can be inserted into the DNA of the bacteria,so that it makes a protein, with a virus protein part stuck on. The body attacks the bacteria strongly, so lots of immune cells make antibodies against it,some of which will be specific for the virus part.So when you get the real virus you recognise it and fight it
@Lily2U1515
Viruses and bacteria are very different. What he said was it was so small you can grow it IN e.coli bacteria (instead of growing it in an egg), so you could grow the bacteria (with the virus, with the flu bit spliced on, that will act as the vaccine) as easily as a yoghurt culture. Hope this clarifies it ^_^
@ScientiaVeritasEtLux Even at the bottom of the page they say there is no single paper proving HIV causes AIDS. If you go to rethinkingaids(dot)com there are some very good papers there that negate if not demolish many of the points on that site.
@47f0
SOooooooo true! I'd go even further and say that economies as a whole are structured to DISCOURAGE a reduced population since the strength of one is measured by the GDP - the more people are out there spending, the 'stronger' the economy! It's in the best interests to the people at the top (the only ones in a position to execute such a conspiracy) to have a very large, poor, population base to make money from.
I also agree about 'lazy scepticism'. So much faith involved in it...
@smkymcnugget420 - fine. Take that same petri dish, add chlorine to it and watch everything die. But chlorine is in every bit of salt you ever ate, and is essential to your electrolyte balance. Elemental Hg is not the same as Hg bound in other compounds, and if you hadn't flunked your remedial chem class, you'd have a clue about that. As it is, I can only recommend that you swallow a large lump of sodium (the other ingredient in common table salt).
GO MUSTANGS!!!
@pinochska What are you talking about?
@ZerqTM - chill man. You just came out of a long winter, and you need to go get some sunshine. Happens to a lot of Scandinavians. The fastest way to control the population of the planet is by increasing our standard of living. Paradoxically, countries with more progress in medicine tend to have lower birth rates. People with better access to birth control, and less likelihood that half their kids will die tend to make smaller families. Malthus hasn't won yet, and probably won't.
I thought TED Talks were supposed to be the person talking to the audience, I like the videos but it I think they just distract you from the Ted Talks.
@welshblondie - really? So dying of HIV is better? How about polio, as your nervous system is destroyed, and you find yourself unable to move, eat, or even breathe on your own? Yet chances are, you had a polio vaccine. I think you might want to rethink things a little.
@47f0
I don't care about spelling , I care about people, especially poor defenseless babies
Oh, a sentence really shouldn't begin with "But" , it's folk, not folks, and it really should be a comma after surprised and therefore "Illiteracy" should not have a capital "I".
@DoomsdayR3sistance But I suspect there will be other sources that dramatically vary from that, because this sounds like a list made up by people just trying to string up reasons it can't be, not reasons that it isn't... in such cases you tend to find it is and certainly AIDS which is a syndrone does appear to have a strong link to being caused by HIV, however this doesn't mean that HIV would be the only (potential) cause.
@Chumkil
What evidence. One paper is al I want, you can't even do that. But don't feel bad no one else can either.
That there are many reasons to test positive on ELISA or Western Blot test. My friend read some sites and all of this wouldn't be so foreign to you.
@proatheism uh read that again boss he said he "thinks" that is what caused it not thta that is for sure what did it ... where does he say he knows it for a fact?
Respond to this video...Try reading anything by Duesberg. What misconducts????? Like saying the truth that HIV is harmless.
@djindox3
Google scholar has a couple articles. I looked at the abstract of the first link it I think it might have what you are looking for.
8:34 Is HIV really endogenous?
i love it when he says he asked what terrifies humanity.... well if u ask me and my fellow intelligent humans we know what makes us feel uneasy ... and its not the countless hours of people on that empty box in your living rooms telling you to be scared of terrorists or any of that bull.... its the major corperations and banks having a hold of the governments around the world:) audit the fed :):)
@MannyBombardier Do you have any memory of limping polio victims? Perhaps you are too young. The US once had a polio survivor President. Now it would be hard to find a person who had suffered the disease under 70 years old. I am 52. I remember. Vaccines save LOTS of lives.
@mcwhite001 Which is a white wash to say the test aren't accurate for a harmless passenger virus.
@ZerqTM
I think overpopulation is a huge problem as well, but I think birth control will be the best method because it has so much less suffering than having people killed. And if it ever does come to a point that the planet cannot sustain the increasing population any longer, the population will drop anyway, so you got your natural pop control there.
@GeofsFilms
You are mistaking fear mongering for education and explanation of what could happen.
@WyldOrbit yes i can imagine such a world.. but just because things are not as good as one might wish.. doesnt mean you have to trash the efforts a few of those good people are making to help mankind.. i dont get it are you for or against vaccines? for or against a few humans doing what they can to help?
@mottdog2002 I would argue nearly all those points are meaningless because they apply to both (IE failures of vaccines hit's both, laws of probability would lead to a bias of people getting most infections as they get older). HIV and AIDs numbers won't have to correlate, most people get AIDs years after HIV, so there are plenty of ways for people to die before AIDs develops.
For you points on "Viral loads" and published data on deaths, I think you are gunna need citations.
@taeyeonlover elaborations? - a few minutes searching the web will give you some clear elaboratinos
@DeviantincTV
Here here!!
@1madaboutguitar
Hmm... so what is that REAL science? I'd like to learn more.
@killuminati1980
I am trying to inform people how how to find other examples of it along with they one I believe they are falling for to help them in the future.
@320iguy No he hasn't but you'd like to think so. What specifically did I get wrong?
Read anything by Peter Duesberg, PHD, A Nobel Prize nominee for his discovery of oncogenes and pioneer in the field of retroviruses, and the best known of the HIV/AIDS dissidents.
@320iguy Forget were I'm from, or that I'm a Doctor. What did I say that was incorrect? be specific.
@Chumkil and debunked. pure schill terminology. Always discrediting a source without considering that you may be the source.
@Chumkil
HIV Is Not the Cause of AIDS
By Peter H. Duesberg
Science, Vol. 241, pp. 514-517, July 29, 198
@opptynox The CDC puts the two in the same stat.
H1N1 and HIV Tests - "The false-positive result may appear in up to 112 days after the flu shot according to experts."
@part2themovie
No, I mean I want to know how *you* understand it. Sure I can find those conspiracy theories on the web, but they might have different points from you. Or you might be misunderstanding them
@florencelovme
No need to do ad hoc logical fallacies here. Instead of attacking others please provide evidence for your claim like you did in the rest of your comment.
Just because your behavior changed during the time you got a shot does not mean it was the shot please check the logical fallacy of post hoc ergo propter hoc.
@GeofsFilms agreed:)
this is a worthless discussion. the best defence for these diseases are a healthy diet clean water and moderate exercise... in developing countries it would make more sense to help provide clean water and healthy agriculture (instead of stealing land and using it to grow soil depleting crops like tobacco coffee etc). but then again that will create independence and currently we need nations to depend on us... they are our human test subjects and cheap labour...
@pinochska Why am I so ignorant. Would you care to elaborate?
Or did you just make an ignorant comment accusing someone of being ignorant?
Apart from natural disasters, greed and the economic system as well as violence and sexual predatingcertainly will ... and women, as usual, are and will be the primary victims
@ChalleFoV3 Asians are already immortal and rich, they choose to die out of boredom
@florencelovme So what's your point? You're saying vaccines are bad, but they saved your life, and.. yeah, I'm confused.
I'll throw it out at you this way: You're admitting you're different, medically, what with the mirror neurons bit, but then blame the change in how you behaved at eleven.
Soooo... Anything else happen at 11 that could change how you behaved?
@1madaboutguitar ...... i really do wonder if us caring about these lost souls are actually doing any good they choose to have such strong oppinions on things they have never researched themselves all there info is givin to them by the same media ...... sleeper your alarm clock is ringing are you going to wake up or just hit that snooze button and go back to your bubble?
@killuminati1980
Please look up the logical fallacy of appeal to motive.
@part2themovie making small Asians immortal is making money
@drealm my tin foil firewall halts all - your world must be vanilla sky in the morning and sepia toned by noon
@WyldOrbit and there is absolutely no need for me to learn how to make vaccines.. i have other talents and passions that serve other needs maybe of a person that makes vaccines.. its called economy that is why you are alive right now and you didnt make any vaccine of that im sure
@kingofcodmw2
Even trying to make that correlation is a logical fallacy.
@mottdog2002 you are right i got the user names mixed up, it is actually C0nC0rdance....
@leejae Actually it may be because of conspiracy nuts like themindminder.
@dar482 boring he is a salesman and one that starts of his sales pitch with terrifieing you all by says EVER WONDERED WHAT IS GOING TO KILL YOU.... unreal WAKE UP SHEEPLE
@florencelovme But what medical studies that aren't slaughtered in the peer review process for bias or improper conduct are showing the correlation?
Personally, I don't care what people say. I want to see the large scale population effects.
The reason I don't care a lack of expertise combined with people's infamously poor ability for self diagnosis.
You haven't even clued in that at 11 you were starting puberty. Durr.
demigod mode: online
@tryanjohnson making money is a small price to pay for making humans immortal?
@47f0 oh, you went for the easy joke. that's why no liked your comment.
This presentation sounded like 1 part sales pitch, 1 part propaganda, and 1 part truth. 16:15 "A company I'm engaged with..." (where's my stock ticker?!) "...has yadda yadda solved the world's problems" (is the SEC listening?!)
@drealm OMG... OMFG!!!!! If that's the case, I'll have to stop watching youtube, destroy my computer, set my room on fire, and fly to another country!!!
