+Robert Halliday You are obviously ignorant of the race at Saratoga you are referencing...The track was a greasy mess, and Niatross had been racing in Aluminum swedge plates in his two starts going into Saratoga. They delayed the race over an hour before it went to post, and Niatross was still having trouble getting over the track..Clint tried to get some space on Trenton Time coming out of the turn but Niatross was leaning in coming for home. Clint reached up and hit Niatross on the belly to try and straighten him up, but Niatross went even more sideways, veering over the hub rail and landing in the infield...Trenton Time and Billy Haughton wrere already going by Clint when the mishap occurred...Item Two....watch the Little Brown Jug Heats and the American Pacing Classic races and you will see that Clint used the stick on Niatross in those races...Do Your Homework...
If you were there in person you would have not posted this gibberish...I was there with J.D.Cobb who trained Majestic Lobell for Kelly Katona of Michigan..Tim Buter was his regular driver that year, and he was a very good horse, but he was no match for Niatross, Tyler B and Storm Damage..once again..he was going over the rail no matter what Clint tried to do...but it WAS NOT due to being hit with the whip...It didn't help matters, but Niatross was very lucky to have fallen over the rail in the manner that he did...Thus endeth the lesson..
I watched this Great Colt race live at least 8 times, now am 63, not many like him to watch, Thanks to All who made that possible!
To see him 2-3 wide stalking Storm Damage then poweing by is pure Niatross! Classic Niatross!
Legend.
He went over the rail because his driver used the wip. 1st and last time the wip ever touched Niatross. Best horse ever

Time of the race was 1:53.3
I was at this race Niatross was the Best Ever. He went over the Hub Rail at Saratoga the only bad race in his career
What was the mile rate?
@OppPaul Yeah, was almost a given 1, 2 finish.
That was usually a good bet !
