The big problem is Alexander is too honorable to tell Charolett he truly loves her once he finds out Charolett is going to marry Ralph Starling. The only way Charolett will brake off her wedding to Ralph Starling will be if he turns out to be a rasist bully. Or falls in love with someone else or sees both Charolett and Alexander together and realize that Charolett will never love him in the way she loves Alexander. Just remember this is not à Jane Austin story so Ralph Starling maybe Charolett Haywood true love ?
