Those stocker trout can be tough. You may already know the area, but Gatlinburg stocks every Thursday… no fishing on those days, but if you go any other day of the week and park near Old Smoky Moonshine or The Peddler… there are some good trout spots along the walkway there. My brother and I caught a few there this morning. We used a trout magnet under a trout magnet float. Put the float about 2’ above the trout magnet, cast it up stream from a slow moving or deep pool, then let the current carry it over. The trout will grab it as it goes by. Pink Trout Magnets and White Trout Magnets work well usually. Again… you may already know all this… but no scented baits or treble hooks allowed there. Also have to buy a 1-day Gatlinburg trout permit, which is easy using the TWRA app. The spots there require a bit of careful footwork to get down to the water, just please take care if it’s a cold day and there is ice on the rocks.
