I was the kid that bought a black Ibanez Gio when I was fifteen or whatever for playing le metal.
Now 12 years later, I absolutely love the look of this pink sparkle beauty! :D
But I get what you're saying.
Same! haha, Ibanez Gio grx70.
Yep, from satanic beast ultra black metal guitar to beauty violet guitar. See the Ibanez LB1 Lari Basilio's Signature. Una belleza!
I love how you always say what you think without filter. Great video.
Glad you mentioned the distance between bridge and bridge pickup. It's one of the first things I noticed and I can't unsee it. Great review!
Manh mad respect for your reviews
Never saw such a genuine guitar reviewer
I swear this dude is the one true master of the guitar. Sure there are greats that are better at a style. But this dude cranks out awesomeness in any style he feels like off the top of his head with success.
I truly love HP's jams, but listen to Jonathan Koh. Not saying he's better, just another awesome listen.
@@avjake I do. Very awesome guitarist as well.
Hella producer as well
I just bought it in frickin' pink sparkle! I already orderd a blue one with an HSS setup but after i saw your video i quickly called Thomann to change the order. There is nothing more metal than a sparkle pink guitar + i cant stand tremolos. Cant wait to hold it in my hands! Thanks for showing me this!
When I was a kid back in the 80’s we would have loved to have access to a guitar like this...you should have seen the crap that was in the stores...I had to borrow my Mom’s credit card to buy a decent guitar...my how things have changed!!!!
I like the Fusions, not being a teenager and loving to see the wood, so I have the older Bengal burst F-II.
Kris Barocsi's Silver Sparkle mod, with removal of the poly impressed me. For HT, I have the pre-Fusion "signature guitar" that Henning might be familiar with. P90 in the neck is a solid choice.
Standing out with funky colours... this season almost all guitars suddenly showed up with pink and baby blue. I almost felt like Miami Vice took over the mental space.
I would love a Fusion HT with minimal poly or bare-back. Show the grain.
I wonder if a there should be an easy kit to "wrap" / "wallpaper" the top of these guitars. Maybe pre-cut for the right version. HB, get on that....
Great review, Henning! I have to agree, the colours are absolute helltrash on the Fusion III range aside from the Bengal Burst and I there's a trans-charry finish as well.
I love the colors ! But, I'm 50 + years away from being a teenager. Still, a great buy. Nice demo. Love my Spark for practice..
Dolphin friendly tuner cam..
Friggin love hennings humour.
Great video, I like the pink colour
Me 54yo is liking this color! Never thought it would happen, but over the last year pink, purple, pastel colors and sparkle finish grew on me.
And I like the idea of the bridge pup further from the bridge for a rounder sound.
Problem with this though, anyone using it will look like a Hammett copycat. That's the thing with Metallica guitars, they're cool but too closely associated with the band. Unless it's a plain flying v or a non-iron cross les paul.
I am roughly about your age, and it's exactly the same with me. With many things I really prefer colors that have a bit more character. It started with a theme on my computer that was white on black with pink icons and buttons.
@Fredrik Svärd Who seriously gives a f*ck about Kirk Hammet playing a similar guitar? If you really give a damn little thing about that you should better buy a banjo or a ukulele or maybe nothing at all because virtually every guitar might look like a guitar that was played by guitar players that people hate for one reason or another. And I am fairly sure Kirk wasn't the first to play a guitar of such a color.
Well, maybe if you are a 14 years old kid it might be a problem but 14 years old kids are more likely to go: "Kirk who?" But at the age of 50 something you should really not worry about that.
"What Do You Care What Other People Think?" Arline Feynman (first wife of Richard Feynman)
the pink purple and blue, mostly in pastel shades, have been heavily pushed by the media over recent years.
@@dr.s. It's how the market works. It's also probably how you work regardless of if you're aware of it or if you admit it or not.
What people want is mostly dictated by what artists play, hence the death of the LP in the 80s and resurrection thanks to Slash. Metallica is a huge force in all of this, they're the sole reason ESP, Mesa and EMG are where they are. New generations flock to them, and that's why you have HB 84 explorer copies, all the vintage black eclipses (im guilty of that one myself, i've had two esp:s and now a HB knockoff) and now this which is pretty identical to Kirks purple sparkle.
Some guitars are more of a blank slate, but even a plain strat has ties to hendrix, clapton and so on. This though, is made specifically to appeal to people who want a Hammett sparkle. So yes, people do give a f*ck that he plays a similar guitar.
That's not really the point. For Axy or me or whoever as a consumer it doesn't matter the slightest little bit. Harley Benton might have designed this guitar as a reference to Kirk Hammett or not. I don't know (and really don't care). And if so, what is the problem? People might or might not buy it because of Kirk. There are fans and haters. It's not the best reason for either of which, but who am I to blame them?
There are also people who simply like purple sparkle. Or just a guitar that doesn't look like the average Strat copy. Why shouldn't they buy it? Cause of Metallica? Dude, that would be entirely stupid. Or at least something that isn't really mature.
Oh boy! I just purchased two HB Fusions. These are absolutely great base for upgrades. If i would have found this video before i purchased mine, i would definately have bought one of these. I had the impression that they do look mat but according to your video this isnt the case.
Of course you are right. It is a shame that they dont sell more Hardtails. I would love to get my hands on one. Hardtail is kind of an own lable and in my opinion there could be more out on the market. Simply because its easy to use and drop tune, has own character.
BTW: I am kind of in shock love with this guitar after i saw this video. 😅
Thanks for your contents mate! Keep it up
Both my Fusion T's came excellently set up. I didn't have to do a thing to either of them. The tuning stability is fantastic, again without doing anything. I admit I don't ever really overdo the tremolo but I have not had any problems with mine what-so-ever. Maybe I got lucky ? All I can say is, through my own, personal, experience, I would highly recommend either the Fusion T HH Roasted FNT or the Fusion T HH EB OCT to anyone, regardless of their playing level. They are superb guitars irrespective of price !
Thats so true, my second Guitar as a Beginner was a HSS HT Strat with locking Tuners, because the Trem and the three Single Coils without a Humbucker in my first Strat was killing me. Now, 13 Years later i also play the SSS Trem Strat.
I’m with you on that one, seems like a great guitar but I certainly would never buy it in that color.
And I would definitely say it’s not just a beginner guitar, it has enough features to interest more advanced players that just don’t want to spend a ton of money, or maybe try something a bit out of their norm and therefore don’t want to spend a ton.
Damn, the quality of your reviews are insane, man!
thank you very much
I'd buy this in Purple Sparkle with gold hardware (and be willing to add 100/150 more for a scalloped fretboard, I don't know why it's not at least as common as fanfret)
But this pink is truly a hard no.
The color is amazing. It's not the early-2000s anymore. Look at what the modern metal guys are actually playing. Baby blue, fluorescent orange, slime green and so on. This particular guitar isn't targeted towards beginner players anyway. The fusion series is basically for the people that want to play something like the Charvel Pro-Mod, Ibanez AZ or a Suhr Modern, but on a budget. Personally, I'm really tired of conservative colors, like black, white, sunburst, "natural", dark blue, dark red and stuff like that. I want my guitars to look outrageous. Just like the Fusion III in your video. ;)
It's for people who want a Hammett ESP purple sparkle
Thanks for the free guitar lesson Shredder-Gott Henning ! Awesome video with a beautiful instrument ! I love the idea that great music can be made with cheap gear, and we have to be aware there is no gear that produces the song. We still have to invent songs our selves !
I have to search the internet for hardtail, have no idea what that is on guitars.
Hard tail means a fixed bridge ie no floating tremolo system
Great opening jam and review.
Your playing has really improved. Nice noodle track
Do you prefer the split coil (tone knob) on this model or the old one, that came with split coil switch. ??
I love the collor!! Your playing was also lovely! Were is the color in your sweater do? At first i thought it was not you ;). Cool video. Greetz from the Netherlands
one of your best solos to date my guy
I have the green sparkle (OCT) with a trem system but without the arm attached. It NEVER goes out of tune. It was also setup well.
Intro beautifully played !!!
Glorious vid. Loved every minute of it. Especially the color part at the end. LMAO.
It's a copy of Pink-chan ESP Snapper-7 Takayoshi Ohmura signature guitar.
He plays guitar in BABYMETAL, so the color is Baby-pink sparkle.
Great you're using different amps for the guitar's tone, and as always, a clear and honest review, with a smile.
Thank you :)
12:45 - loved the "Beatles" song and associated diversion/lesson. Yes, they are on of my favorites too.
I think about getting one of these and put two seymour duncan Humbuckers in it. Do you think it would be worth it?
Does guitar have any neck dive? Specially when you use it on strap?
beautiful playing. Rispect!!!!
38 years ago the crap that was available for $189. This guitar for about 535USD is so worth it for a beginner. PS I love the color.
I'd buy a 22 fret version with EMGs. In black.Yes, black. And I'm not even a beginner.
complete agreement about the colour,. I was looking forward to a hardtail fusion, no sale here.
I bought one almost exclusively because it's sparkle pink. It's metal as fuck plus stainless steel frets, roasted maple neck and locking tuners. UNREAL. Had the pickups changed at Thomann for a JB and 59 set.
How did you get Thomann to change the pickups?
@@andrewoneill7626 that's what I'm saying
Love this colour! But I have been confused as to why so many shades of pink on these, and I love pink!
Me. I bought one. That pink sparkle is hot! I have plenty of black, white and red guitars. I would have got the purple sparkle Tele but I really wanted that roasted maple neck. Either way - thank you for the best video so far on the internet featuring this guitar!
Personally, I think a guitar design contest with "the best design gets built" could be a tool for Market research. Just let them freely design or with an animated builder on a website and done. The winners are found by number of likes and an internal. 1st and 2nd price is the Manufacturers choice and the player's choice... I mean I love sparkly guitars but not sparkle on the front, the rest is standard. I want sparkle everything to the top, eyes exploding sparkle to the max! Like the italia modena guitars (maybe even more). That is style imo i also do not like "make the body black and the rest is standard" i like ultra black, everything is a black hole black, like the cort curbow (but with black hardware) and not all choices are expensive as cort proves... but that is just me ^^ anyway as always, great review!
Just make sure there isn’t a Chapman type figurehead and you are golden!!
Chapman did that and we got a reverse tele headstock......
Usually I never order guitars in the internet- you have to play them in real life before buying. But I neglected my claim with the 3 Harley Benton guitars, I ordered from Thoman. If you don’t need the instrument asap you can add to your order in the comment field: I want my guitar to be setup by Thoman. That’s what I did and I always got a perfectly set-up instrument. Everybody can do that. It’s free and it doesn’t cost you anything… whether they can set up a tremolo instrument perfectly- I can’t say. Never ordered this kind of guitar…
You need to give them some days for doing this that’s all - just to let all you guys know. I don’t get a penny from Thoman for this information- I am not linked to them or anything.
Yes. But also: i've returned all but one HB:s for various reasons, flaws or just dead feeling instruments. One of the return packages got lost and i'm out of luck. Lesson learned.
That’s a pity. If you order from the big T. and you do not live in Germany problems occur, that I am not aware of. There seem to be a lot of mixed experiences from foreign countries according to the ratings on their own website. I order from T since the beginning of the 2000 not only because of the price but also how some employees in the music stores treated their customers … at least here in Germany. I never had any problems with T.
Personally I'm loving the colours!
Great guitar. I love the pink sparkle! I'd rock that a metal gig too but what do I know? :). I think you're right.
Henning I am with you over the colour they need that in a different non bonkers paint job for me to be interested. The bengal burst is about the only finish I'd consider. 🤷🏼♂️
I love the color!
You vert cool played! 🔥🔥🔥
Hi master Henning! Thank you for your videos, always great pleasure to see and hear you :)
Please help me with your opinion and advice: im about to buy my first guitar ever and start a music beginner path. I m choosing between hb fusion III roasted ssp (with trem, but i wont use it) and the hb aeolus roasted.
If you was a beginner with zero expirience in music what would you pick? Your opinion in this question will help me a lot!
Thank you for your work and wish you a good mood :)
Go for the Fusion III... solid guitar for the price!
I bought a JA a while back. Other than needing some vigorous fret work, it's a great guitar.
got a silver sparklecaster (and tele) both with a 'wavy bottom' WIsh the P90 CST you reviewed had a hard tail... (ordering a blue one Friday and going to block it and crank down the springs)
Awesome playing
Ever since Henning mentioned it, I cannot stop looking at the position of the bridge pickup relative to the bridge. Really does seem a bit too far forward?
The Ice-blue version does also come with a hardtail bridge.
I think this guitar color rocks
I think Agufish has think about the ESP/LTP kirk Hammett model in sparkle pink that look a lot like this HB model... but yeah agree with you.
Thanks for the review. I definitly looove this pink sparkle lol It's so different than we use to see on the market. Black, black, black, red, red, white, white, smoked, smoked, oh somked again... For which public ? I don't know, maybe not the tipical teenager fan of heavy metal I agree. Maybe girls, or older people who just want a second or third guitar with good value for a low price and want something different with original design ;)
Cool finish!
Hey again! you are becoming my top favorite youtube guitar player reviewer! I have a question, I'm looking at buying a Harley Benton for a friend of mine and maybe one myself. I'm looking at the Harley Benton Fusion III HSH EB FBB pro series. Would you say these are good quality instruments that stay in tune well? Any problems with the Wilkinson bridge they come with? It's a $400 Harley Benton. Are they quality enough or would I be better off getting a low end ESP/LTD for around the same price or would you say they are comparable? Thanks in advance!!!
I think at 400, Harley Benton is still your best bet... other also do nice stuff i that range, but not with that level of hardware! Go for it!
I love this color. And it blends very nice w the beautiful neck/fretboard.
Hey, beginner guitar range or not - can it just be called an affordable guitar?
Apart from the colour discussion (which I absolutely agree, please offer more colour options!), I don't understand why the bridge pickup is positioned the way it is (slightly towards the neck).
Love the color, just wish I could get it with only one humbucker (in the bridge) and a reverse headstock.
I dig the color!
Does this guitar have neck dive?
Jazzy sparkle finishes are awesome, I prefer them to any of these pastel tones or flamed tops. Actually I wish the pink on this one was more neon.
That white cow at the end means *business* !
Henning, can you put a pair of Seymour Duncan P-Rails on this guitar an see how it sounds? Yep, they are pricey, I know
I JUST wish they found a way to offer a "pro" version with FULL quality pickup options for an extra $100. Imagine that guitar for only $500 but with actual Gibson/Seymour Duncan-quality pickups with all that nice low end thump and glorious overtones. That guitar with a Gibson P90 in the bridge would rule.
Just imagine the potential, if they made these guitars in Japan or South Korea Korea with good quality control and high end pickups ,then it would be a near perfect instrument for maybe 750 to 800 dollars
You can add every Pickup you want yourself effortlessly for small money if you want. Pickups are the Part of a guitar that are swapped out the most, so why bother too much about them as the manufacturer?
@@Worlds_Worst_Guitarist when you make a guitar that has high end features, it tends to be more respected in the factories and have better making overall in general. Quality control is the important part tho
@@cbt1281 Not necessarily. My under 100 EUR JB20 Bass by Harley Benton is absolutely flawless and even came perfectly setup. The Guitars i had here to test all have been flawless, like i said: Pickups (and maybe even Tuning Machines) can be swapped out very easily and it is done even with the most expensive Custom Shop Guitars.
Sparkles! Sounds a little thin on the bottom. Am I wrong?
There's an Ice Blue finish option which probably looks the best but black pickups kinda clash with everything else. I mean it might be a minor thing but if I didn't like my guitar color it would just be a constant eyesore.
Sold my HP42 and paid for the pink one for my wife. Not everyone is a male or only listens to metal. My son loves it also.
I would buy one if they had better colors. You are right about the colors.
I agree with the criticism of colors. I would like to see a silver sparkle with a hardtail. It is still unclear why the HSS is with open milling for pickups, and here the frames pickups ... it seems to me it looks bad
Im thinking about buying one of the hss versions, the thing is that it would cost me like 550 euros becauseof the shipping and taxes on south america
Hard tail, Yes!! Hoping for a 22 fretter too ;-) These should sell a ton to students and schools. Black, Royal blue, Olympic white, candy apple red metallic and Gold could be cool colors.
There is a blue with a hard tail. I agree, why sparkle pink? My color option would have been Black, White, and Red.
Everything, even the color, seems great, except for the pick ups. But even if you toss in some boutique pick ups, it still sounds like a steal and a half.
Is SkyKing your favourite clean amp? You usually start reviews with this one.
yes it is
This guitar perfect for glam rock 🔥✨🎸
I am a complete beginner. I can't play Smoke on the water in speed, rhythm and clean tone (you know, not strong grab on strings yet) on one string, not speaking of two stings on the same time. It is my first ever guitar. I love metal, rock, heavy metal music. I have gothic/punky dark purple, black style of clothes, home. AND I LOVE DARKY PINKY SPARKY STYLE OF THIS GUITAR. For me? This guitar sounds live heaven, whatever my fiance (who actually can play guitars) play sth on it.
thanks for the Nut Sauce hint! That sparkle colour rules by the way.
Agree with the color opinion, it's hip and all but not what the majority of potential buyers would want, I love it though.
The guitar I want the most is an SSS 22 fret hard tail...
I agree it’s the only reason I haven’t bought more Harley Benton guitars if they were the right colors. Black, red ,orange, natural, flame top, not many people want any of the colors they have. Not just me all my friends say the same thing.
I actually love the pink sparkle, but I completely understand what you mean :)
Well said, I would be in the market for guitars like this, but these colors are a hard pass for me. Gotta shop something else.
I have the HB FNT fusion T tele HH...I absolutely love it. It is the first run with the switch going in the regular tele parallel to neck. They made it like this one on newer ones. I actually find this way to be less accidental strum switching. Idk. Anyway they are amazing ...I'm sure all the fusions HB are great. Mine is trem Wilkinson and stays in tune for me. I hope you try one man they are nice. I can say 2 years almost ...maybe 1.5 I've had mine I've had NO issue. The electronics are the budget pots and wiring but make no difference to me as is but some like to rewire which I understand. The pick ups work great for me Same Roswell's splitable. The neck split is amazing but bridge split is loss in volume a bit more than many would like. Anyway I agree. The big companies are selling these colors because of the market is all about lbgtq right now. That's my theory. Lots of pandering but that is marketing. To each their own. Hahah. Peace man.
Well, hate me or not but my preferred colour would be a lighter pink sparkle! My only gripe with this colour is that it's too dark (bordering purple) for my taste.
Love this purple pink sparkle. Was between this and the silver but going to buy the pink one. I have 2 black guitars and I'm sorry I bought them. The colour is boring and doesn't inspire me to play them. The pink sparkle? A touch of genius! :)
I actually love the pink sparkle looks amazing. I just love it. I am not one of the “agufish people”, but yeah, a matte black finish would be cool too.
Looks amazing on kirk and kirk only, the second he or james starts using something it becomes associated with them. If you get it it's like, ah you got s kirk guitar and think you're kirk.
@@fredriksvard2603 I don’t really agree with that. I’m sure some people think that way, but I don’t think most people will think that you’re a KH fanboy with a purple sparkle finish. Kirk plays the greenie les paul too, and no one associates 59 LP’s with Kirk.
I absolutely love that pink (purple?) sparkle. Gonna buy it for a metal band cuz idc about black guitars lol.
Love intro vocals to this video!❤️🔥 Let me know if that is not your voice, thanks.
I don't sing!
Can a Vega temolo be installed in this fusion guitar ???
there is no routing
I absolutely agree with you ... PINK!?! I actually looked at these and the color choice was the factor that made me go another route. In general, I find that they don't stick with good colors overall throughout the full range of their guitars -- I can usually find one in a color that I can live with, but I am always settling with their color pallet.
It's for people who want to be kirk hammett without forking out for the ESP purple sparkle.
I wasn't super high on the color w/sparkles, but I bought it anyway. It's still HOT.
You might say the colour is not metal, but man, don't forget the 80s!
I got the shell pink one myself, but I'd instantly grab this if it came with a trem and HSS.
I just got my silver sparkle. Love everything about it but the pick ups. Compared to your review mine are very hollow sounding. Bridge is not bad. Neck is very bassy jazz guitar sounding. Splits are not sparky but more like out of phase sounding. None are bad just not loving.
Same pick-ups, though. Such an effect occurs when rolling off the volume. They sound best at full volume with the gain on the amp adjusted accordingly.
If that is not the cause, the neck might be too close to the strings. Keep the pole pieces 3mm away from fretted strings.
@@Leo_ofRedKeep been set up and adjusted every way possible. They just sound hollow and bassy. Swapped pickups and it’s perfect. the other fusion III tele I got after with same pickups was way better. .
Might have different pickups. They put LAF in some and HAF in others.
The colour is great for 80s Hair Metal.....and the 80s are coming back..look at Steel panther for example :D :D
I bought a Fusion III in blue (for under 399 ;) ).....i hope i have a lot of fun with it because i play Ibanez for a long time.
I hope i can adjust a low String Action under 2 mm.
Next Week the Fusion comes to me...
You are DEAD ON about the color. I jumped over to Thomann while watching your video to see if there were variations. Very disappointed that this and baby blue seem to be the only options.
I love pink..just change the both pots and the toggle switch
I´m waiting for the floyd rose, 24 jumbo fret, fast neck Harley Benton!!!!
Came for the Fusion III, stayed for the quick lesson at 12:55. Mind blown.
Will a review of the Spark be coming HP?
not a full review, just a christmas shopping recommendation
@@EytschPi42 cool.
