All of this assumes your dealing with a normal, psychologically healthy person, - Narcastist and sociopaths' will just naturally expect entitled and its everyone's job to give them things and feel no sense of reciprocity, as an example.
You should do a vid featuring dealing with abnormal psych. Actually, it might be best to just avoid them.

People are jerks. As a realtor it was almost impossible to list my friend’s homes or find homes for them. I even had one “close” friend use another unknown realtor to find her a rental. Why, I asked. “because you’d make money”. Was her answer. Of course Id make money, and NOT OFF HER! The landlord paid the fee. I would have had to work hard to find her an appropriate rental. But that selfish human decided id make money off our hard work for her. And THAT was her selfish, bitchiness coming out. Nothing was a repugnant to her as me being successful. She definitely showed her true awful nature as what she did.
Same thing with my family. The idea of me getting paid for my hard work while they benefited was inconceivable to them. They only see me making money. Not that they’d benefit greatly. They’d cut their own throats before they would see me happy.
So….never go to family or friends. Remember. Most people are true assholes.

      💯 relatable.
But what I found is, there's the "how" part to doing these things, and if it won't effectively apply to the individual(s), the outcome won't be as expected.
If you just "genuinely" do favors and don't include some of the other psychological factors, most likely, you'd be taken advantage of, and so, I believe you must carefully consider and apply these tips.

Ugh, tipping is such a problem. It shouldn't be expected, let alone counted on. It's become inverted: you were supposed to tip if the service was better than expected. Nowadays, people expect to be tipped always, no matter how bad they do their job

@@doribonesbonner8848 that's shameful. Too bad people put up with that kinda BS. A livable wage shouldn't depend on tips. As a customer, you have nothing to do with the way an employer treats their employees, so the financial burden being taken up by customers makes no sense.

Reciprocity worked for me when I was in sales. Every time I asked my prospect if they wanted a drink (and it was literally water that I got from the sink in a styrofoam cup,) got me the sale even though I was selling memberships to my club. It was weird. I don’t know if it is because they felt extra taken care of or what but it NEVER failed me. I get cash upfront too when I tell them I will take off the sales taxes for cash 🤣

Damn, you mean there's not a way to be a selfish prick with the whole world at my command? No. Live by the sword, die by the sword. With the measure you measure out, it shall be measured back to you, and more besides.

If you knowingly apply the reciprocity rule, then you are helping while expecting something in return. The only person you are genuinely trying to help is yourself.
Is only genuine help when you do not expect something in return. Otherwise, is just a confidence game. Irrelevant of delusions.
A gift that is given while expecting something in return is not a gift. Is a business transaction.
Society as a whole is based on deception. So, I do understand why people do horrible things in order to survive I wish at least they try to admit to themselves why they do X and not pretend otherwise. If is to help, then is irrelevant if the person can help you back or not.
At the end of day, never lie to yourself. As otherwise you will never be again sure of your own sincerity.

Lol the gift thing can go sour if you do it wrong. Whenever i hear 'gift' now, it reminds me of the time i was doing business with Chinese vendors and one in particular was notoriously sending 'gift' with the pallets. I would not think anything of it but the problem was this vendor was sending garbage product with the 'gift', we did not want the 'gift'. We just demanded that we got the items we ordered in good working condition. But this guy would throw in obviously broken and qc rejects in the pallet hoping no one would notice i guess. We complained and demanded refunds or credit for the bad items which they would argue with us on point saying to just forget about them that they are ok or give excuses. When we really had them by the balls, he would say "But we sent you gift". The _gift_ was usually some cheap item like a plastic little coincell led keychain or a tablet stylus which was just a piece of cheap stainless steel tube with a crappy rubber tip that would just rip off on a screen if you tried using it. 😂 i still remember that pathetic "but we sent you gift" line as a response for screwing us on items that were orders of magnitude more valuable than the 'gift'. 😂😂

As a Mormon missionary I was taught ‘the commitment pattern’. Basically a way of emotionally manipulating people into doing what we wanted. We were taught to always ask questions with “WILL YOU….” because people felt obligated to follow through (even if they didn’t really want to). Then of course you follow up within 24 hours to try to solidify their answer. “So (insert their name) we’re still on for your next lesson we talked about yesterday, right?”

Reciprocity. I know someone who frequently say's "if you do something for someone else you get back ten-fold." Problem is I've only ever heard her say it to someone when she does some little thing for them.

The universe was designed for reciprocity on every level. Human beings are gregarious, and there's a reason for it.

This is just the human experience and it's not a bad thing. There's people who still wants to give nothing to anyone but wait until you have acquired your possessions he lay wait and murder you to get your stuff . How do you explain the resoprosity in that case.???? What do you do???

If a restaurant has mints, then one mint per person is the minimum. I can't imagine waiting staff leaving one mint, or even two, for a table of four.
Us "lovely people" deserve one mint per person.

There are only a few absolutes when it comes to human nature. So, using terms like never, everyone, always is incorrect.
