Oh man this is cool :) Truthfully I was a little disappointed when you said you might not watch this. The showrunners (including Mr. Sanada) took what was basically a glorified romance novel and told the story from what seems like a more Japanese perspective. I love what they did with it. Very excited to hear your insights on the show!

it's important to note that they did that while still providing the main takeaways from the book.

By the way this Japanese setting was built in Vancouver Canada which why the budget ($250M) rate and pay were Western standards, some wide overview shots maybe CGI 15:00, of course despite being FX,technically a Western production, Hiroyuki Sanada-san was the producer, pretty much a consultation each episode to ensure it is authentic as possible, quite the opposite of that UBI game.

Also why it the outdoor shoots are so overcast and gloomy. I really wish they shoot season 2 in Japan but I doubt they will. Most actors are Japanese too so why not?

As a Japanese American who watched the original 1980 TV series as a child, this adaption had me just as excited. In many ways, this latest version surpassed even the rose-tinted glassed memory of that early viewing. Can't wait to see your reaction to the rest of the series!

Bro this guy literally knows so much about his culture… like damn… this is DEFINITELY the best breakdown I wanna see from a historical series such as this one. This video definitely gave me what I came here for.
The fact that he shows the source of what he's talking about… made this much much better.

Takeda Shingen used the Goemonburo for certain crimes in Kai Province for example (today its Yamanashi Prefecture (山梨県, Yamanashi-ken)).
In addition to his successful military endeavors, Shingen is well remembered for his sound civil administration and public works. His governance methods were so successful that they were later adopted by the Togugawa Shogunate. Some of the highlights of his rule included:
-Gaining popular support and respect by applying criminal and civil law firmly and fairly; a novelty during an era when a provincial lord’s authority was absolute and potentially arbitrary.
-Taxing his constituents based on innovative rate assessment and collection methods.

-Completing one of the greatest civil engineering efforts of the 16th century by damming the Fuji River.

Recently uploaded the Hammer and Forge mission (watch?v=Hn-PdNLA9aI). I really like the freedom that the game gives to play like the player wants. I try to make my gameplay as "cinematic" as possible. I am really proud of the moment in five and a half minute mark on my Hammer and Forge mission.

loved Toshiro mifune(legend) in the original but i think hiroyuki sanada is just as good, who ive been a huge fan of since i saw him when twilight samurai was released.

I also felt weird seing this man consider seppuku just because he might drown in the sea.... is if possible drowning was considered such not honorable death the soul would be "lost" ? and suppuku is better ? because from bushido point of view it seems giving up so fast is weakness...

There is a saying that "Bushido is the way of dying."
(In Bushido, "finding the way of dying" means being prepared to face the risks and death of one's life, and being prepared to fight and fulfill one's duties. In other words, this saying emphasizes the importance of self-sacrifice and loyalty in Bushido.)
Because samurai are popular, I think Bushido is well known overseas as well. However, I feel that there is a slight difference in how Japanese people understand it.
That is, Bushido is "the way to live as a samurai," but it also means "how to die as a samurai."
Rather than continuing to struggle under the waves and expose a shameful appearance, "dying inu jini," he chooses to commit seppuku with honor. I think this is the scene that tells us that. (Dying inu jini is a way of dying that is ultimately of no use and is not honorable, even if you intend it to be meaningful.)
