Yes, Susan, please show us how you train a release. I LUV your podcasts - I learn so much about training dogs (and how to memorize poems - I wish someone had taught me that when I was in public school!).

I taught hold and drop on a table as a game whilst a pup. Then taught short retrieves on a leash. I teach everything like it's a game. I say "that it'll do" when ever I'm finished doing anything. Whether it's play, positions or commands. I don't teach tug. Love your channel Susan❤

Susan, yes please, show us how you do the release!! I've been working on it for a few months with other methods and so far he will still not willingly give back the toy. I love your attitude towards life! I'm a 67 y.o. who loves long difficult hikes, backpacking and (after my upcoming knee replacement) bike riding!

I would love to know how to teach my dog release. It's one of my problem when I play with her. She'll gave me the toy and will touch my hand with the toy still on her mouth, and when I try to hold on to the toy, she'll start to play tug again. She didn't want to give it to me anymore. 😅 Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge Susan 💙

So I need to 'bring in' a high value reward in sooner? While playing a game within H360 my dog Kicki has a tendency to not 'hold her sit cue'. It seems to help to indeed to 'bring in the release followed by something of value', sooner..So funny that whenever I encounter certain issues while doing the games, you seem to come up with the answer in the next coming video..I love these pod casts!

I’m in recallers but haven’t seen a video on how you teach the release. I now just let my hand go limp and say out and I let go of it and the dog does too most often but if I go to pick the tug up right away he will try and grab it again even though I have not told him to get it.
So my fix is I just don’t pick it up right away after he outs it. I have been just not initiating that game again and do something else. How do you do this out training? Thank you,Terri & Guns Guns is 120 pounds Cane Corso who loves tug. I’m a 66 year old military retired lady who is 112 pounds. I try to be very careful with tug and this 11 month old puppy. Thanks!

...I would also be interested in mentorship.
Particularly if I could be connected with other Recallers students who have trained their own service animals.
Service animal training is so much more than average training and sometimes I just cannot phantom how to do the back chaining training for a given task I am endeavoring to achieve. I eventually get there on tasks that are super important to me, however I would really love to expedite the process by having a mentor who has gone before. A mentor, or a dozen mentors 🤞🏼, even if they don't need the same task I do, they have plenty of History with Recallers approach to training virtually anything.
Sometimes my brain is really creative and my best friend.
Sometimes my brain is easily overwhelmed and I just really would like to know who to call on to return my brain to its fabulous creative potential.
