Asante refers to a group of people consisting of different tribes like oyoko, bretuo, asona, bono (some), akyem (some), etc. That makes Asantehene's status very unique and therefore qualifies as a king. He is referred to as Asantehene in the constitution of Ghana just to avoid such debate.
