Yesterday was a tough day but despite the chaos, I still wore sunscreen and made sure to wash my face before bed, even if I didn’t do my whole routine or use a skincare headband. Some days all you make yourself can do is the minimum.
Also: Ricky Martin seems lovely! I remember seeing him when he first blew up, he seems like such a down to earth person.

For me it has been very inspiring to see Ricky in this video:
    1. It is beautiful to see a man sharing his skin care routine because the myth that beauty is only for women is broken
    2. How beautiful it is to listen to him share his routine, really transmit a lot of love for himself (that we must all do)
    3. I loved that he opened his heart to share how he felt before and how he has begun to learn to love himself and look for the things that make him happy, no matter how successful you are, appearances can be deceiving.
Thanks for sharing this video with us , Greetings from Mexico City :)

THANK YOU for calling out "if you come from a restrictive eating background" because that's my background and so many people don't understand that intuitive eating is a form of self-care for me right now. I eventually want to be able to meal prep and eat diff proteins and whole foods, etc. but it's just not healthy for me atm. I need to get away from my mindset of not deserving food or food being bad before I try to introduce a diet.

Ph of 6 is slightly acidic not alkaline. And as a person who comes from a tradition of using rose water, its helps with a lot of skin issues from a personal experience, yes it doesn't have any studies supporting that but we use rose water to wash babies and for eczema or irritation. However, rose water needs to be steam distilled and the roses used should be damascus roses, native to India and the Middle East.

I love you! The last minute of this video, about mental health and the importance of it, is so true. I’ve dealt with complex ptsd, depression, anorexia and bulimia, addiction. It shouldn’t be shameful to have a disease. It’s those people who need extra care and love during their tough times!
Sometimes when I’ve had a bad day, I give myself a nice sheet mask or some of my other facial masks that’s “regular, sheet-less” masks. It’s one step closer to self-love!

You mentioned the connection between overall health and skin and that's so true! I have eczema (which has been really bad over the past year because of the pandemic) and I also suffer from IBS. As soon as I found my food sensitivities and made some dietary changes, I noticed my skin improve dramatically. I never used to have issues with eczema pre-pandemic. I actually tended to have pretty clear skin overall, so it's nice to see my skin recovering.

I was told by my doctor that I had high cholesterol and wanted me to take meds for it but I didn’t want to do that , so I wanted to see if the Cheerios claims were true about reducing cholesterol. I started eating this cereal like for breakfast and as a snack at night. Some days it would be all I wanted for dinner but not always. So this went on for 4 months until my next appointment. I was actually shocked at what my doctor told me, my good cholesterol was so much better than last time that he wasn’t even going to mention the bad cholesterol because it wasn’t that bad. It actually improved my cholesterol!! I couldn’t believe it. It’s true , it worked. Sorry for the long story, I just wanted to mention it.

Super important regarding meds: don’t stop medication without taking to your doctor. It worked for him and that’s good but you should always discuss your medication with your doctor before changing the dosage/stop it completely

    • @JasminMiettunen
      @JasminMiettunen 2 роки тому

Yes! Never stop a medication suddenly, you need to lower the dose slowly to avoid withdrawal symptoms, or if you notice you actually needed the medication! Going off any medication suddenly can be dangerous, and going off a medication you need even more so.
I recently started lowering the dosage of a medication with my doctor and had to go to the ER the next weekend where a different doctor put the dosage back up, I can’t imagine what would’ve happened if I just went off of it completely.

Thank you Cassandra to share skincare information and explain pros and cons. I have wondering whether bakuchiol oil and blue tansy oil is beneficial to reduce acne, acne scars, sebum, and skin texture from your point of view (if there is any possible). Btw, your contents really improve my skin!

Cassandra, there are types of cholesterol we don’t know what problem he had. Familial hypercholesterolaemia is hereditary, not everything can be managed by food and exercise. Also embolism, cholesterol embolism, and trombosis are not the same. Blood thinning medication (eg Varfarin) is not statins etc.

Yeah, I am on the fence on this one
*not a health care provider, this is not medical advice*
Often when you start a vegetarian diet, it pushes you to eat more plant based (until you discover all the vegetarian/vegan processed, full of saturated fat and sugar, delicious snacks ^^)
We don't know how he ate before that, maybe it wasn't balanced at all
It is possible that his Dr. prescribed the meds WITH a lifestyle change because his situation was so worrying that he couldn't wait for the lifestyle change to kick in, or that he, himself, pushed to have medication
      Or any other scenario
Cassandra, as you who work with physicians, I am a bit let down that you did not mention talking to your health care provider or pharmacist FIRST if you have side effects you are worried about and that you should never stop meds cold turkey on your own
      Otherwise, great video, thank you

Just throwing it out there again, I’m curious to know your thoughts on animal testing for medical aesthetic procedures. You’re (YAY!) extremely vocal about your opinion on animal testing/use of animal products…. I haven’t seen anything regarding your daily practice though. How is testing done for medical aesthetic procedures, is it done on animals? How can we find out what procedures were built on a foundation of animal cruelty? Is your daily practice influenced by this?

@@ineedabeachnow7205 I thought so, but I know how personal this issue is to Cassandra so I am wondering her opinion on this? Or if she only does procedures that haven’t been animal tested? Or maybe she got into the profession before her views on using cruelty free products evolved and maybe she continues to do the procedures because it’s her chosen profession and so moving forward she will do what she can?? I find this a really interesting subject and would love to hear back from her!

Honestly same here been really curious. I want to be an esthetician but I want to know how its like for medical esthetician’s ,I think she should do a video about this for sure like doing reviews on esthetician products if they are cruelty free, vegan etc. If they are actually good since she has a lot to say about brands, like how do we actually know if what my esthetician is using actually good and not a gimmick. Brands for example like: skinscript, bioelements, Eminence etc. Like what does she use in her job that is cruelty free etc.

Was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes and first suggestion was to put me on Metformin. No thank you. Exercise, low carb diet, Intermittent fasting and 10lbs weight loss later, blood sugar numbers are normal.
