my fav little mod for MN-D90 is using Fayee 6 spoke rims and tires, gains about 7/16" extra width over the stock tires+rims, helps prevent side tipping, and they don't look awkward or "monster truck" with a set. A285004 oil filled shocks are pretty nice on MN-D90 too.
Those wheels look odd on the Fayee though. Judging from side by side comparisons, the Fayee is too narrow and does not have the same scale fidelity as the MN90. I hate “monster truck” too...
Thanks Dude! Watched your video, paid attention, took your advice and ordered the MN99 (in dark silver). You’re right - they are toy grade, but bodies are nice, and you can always customize the body and mount it on a hobby quality chassis, when the time and funds permit. ✌️

Hi. I finally received my MN99S. It is very cool. I totally agree with you that what comes out of stock is already quite good. The suspension is a little fragile and even after adjusting the direction on the transmitter the car tends to deviate a little from the path when going in reverse. Did you check that too? It is normal? If I want a 2 speed gearbox upgrade and I have doubts in which one should I choose? There are now about 4 models... Anyway, it always requires to change the transmitter. Guess I'm going to a pistol style. Would you prefer Hobby Porter to FlySky GT3C? In your videos the sound of the WPL V3 sound kit does not seem suitable for this car in the case of diesel and in the case of petrol it seems a little strange, do you agree or is it some distortion in the video? This V3 model is not yet available, is it? In the sellers I saw the reference to a second generation... There is also a DumboRC with 4 or more channels and good price, any opinion on that? Could you explain better the matter of connecting the wires so that the front lights do not light up just when accelerating? Thank you. Keep up the good work.
i have noticed that but on the trails it hasn't bothered me much. and when you modify the steering link and steering horn angle like on my wpls and older mn d90 it eliminates a lot of it as well.
Good work. I really enjoy your videos and all the info. I'm expecting a deliver of a MN99S anytime soon. What is the importance of having a nice transmitter and receiver vs 2 speed gearbox? For me the important thing is the high torque and low speed for good crawling behaviour. Any two stick transmitter that you would recommend? Thanks. Keep up the good work.
For me the way it is stock isn't bad at all. If you want better low speed control. The WPL V3 esc receiver sound kit with Tx(pistol style though). It's a great system specially if you want lights, engine sounds and winch functions in the future. I don't like how small the transmitter is but they perform really well and pack easy. That alone will be a noticable performance boost. The 2 speed will deliver even more low end control (and be more reliable of a gearbox) with the ability to switch to high gear so you can run the truck to the next obstacle without having to carrying the slow thing hahaha(recommend metal cvd driveshafts as well). As for a 2 gimbal style controller I have only been running spektrum so that's what I know and would recommend. Specially for my air stuff, I haven't had one plane or heli loose signal on me. I had a quadcopter brown out on me but the receiver had broken antennas from a couple crashes already. I heard flysky makes a decent tx. I have 2 ground or pistol style tx that flysky makes gt3c/b and the range and reliability have been great for me so the 2 gimbal stuff should be just as good.
The Flysky FS-i6s is my favorite inexpensive two stick right now. The range and reliability is awesome. I use mine for sailboats on the water, so not an easy environment. Not had a single brown out. If you want flexibility to use with surface and air, a good choice. FlySky does have a couple radios that are even supported in OpenTX. At minimum the FlySky 9x is supported, but I think the FS-i6 is supported too.
Great video lots of great information in this about the mn trucks . I agree I was a lil disappointed in the mn45 as well there was supposed to be an SUV version it shows it on my box but I guess they never made it . Keep up the awesome work .

After about 10 hard runs I finally sheered off a driveshaft on the MN99s. I did have a crap ton of wheel weights and heavy metal links so really no surprises there. Trying to decide if I should order the shafts or just order a wpl kit and swap my stuff into that chassis.
I was able to abuse mine for some runs. But I have a friend we call the destroyer of things and he was able to snap that driveshafts within minutes lol.
i just didn't feel the need for it with these small rigs. I may try some in a future build but the stock shocks work for me. It's like having worn out shocks. it"s scale! hahaha

What upgrade(s) would you say is an absolute must considering budget limitations?
I would have to say for the mn99 to gain performance you would want metal cvd driveshafts, and wheel weights to start. If you want smoother crawl performance then I recommend the 2 speed gearbox but that would require new electronics like esc receiver or the wpl v3 esc receiver combo. those will dramatically change this trucks performance.

pretty close in wheelbase but the axles on the wpl are a little shorter so it will give you a stock look without the wheels popped out the wheel wells.
Great video. I have an MN99s and would love to upgrade to a two speed transmission but by changing the electronics I would lose the nice lights or at least the indicator/rear light functionality. Did you manage to keep them fully working in your modifications?

to upgrade, they're stiff but the plastics are on splines, you can put pliers next to them and start tapping the pliers with a hammer to drive them off. with the brass ring gear reverse the process, the spline is harder and the brass wont budge once driven into place, but use the grub screw anyway.

Do you glue the tiers?
Yes he does. Just cheap dollar store super glue around the rim, either a continuous bead or a few small drops

i have a b36km.
ye whats up please give that MN model to me in giveaway as like that model so much and I don't have money to buy it.
What shocks are best for these?
im just running stock shocks on mine.
@@RunThatRC Ok thanks
Pick up version if the d90 is nicer.
damn it the gray one is hella sold out
sometimes its not easy to get the version you want. I say just get another color and just custom paint it.
@@RunThatRC I found one!
i have one... mn99s 😅👏
👍😉
How did you attached the 540 motor to 2speed gearbox :)
If your referring to the brushless motor it's the same size and mounting holes as factory brushed motor the wpl 2 speed comes with.
Salamat kabayan! btw am i right 540 brushless?
@@benitisoy its 370 size brushless. 540 will not fit in location.
@@RunThatRC is it ok to have plstic gears on a brushless? kinda a large torque it may break plastic gears?
@@benitisoy Lots of brushless motors run with plastic gears and there’s never an issue.
mn99s is the best rtr of all these ?
you do get more lights with the 99s for sure. i say mn96 and up are all about the same.
Maybe ducktape is much better to cover the motor instead of that you are using😁
You could use tape if you add a heat sink. covering the holes completely will not help the motor dissipate heat. plus the holes on the end bell as well will be covered easily with a cloth.
I locked out 1st gear on my two speed.
Motor 370 vs 390
ive been using the 370 motors from the wpl 2 speed. I haven't tried a 380.
Hey man, seems your doing great on YT. Even got you affiliated with YT . Anyway youd sell one to a dad of 3 boys??? For cheap . Thanks
I have sold some rc but Haven't sold any of these yet. I may have them for sale in the future.
Hey bro, Where do you live??? US Reason contact me if your interested in building me for pay of course, a defender as shown.???
hi there. I am in the U.S. and have been asked the same request a couple times. Unfortunately I don't do builds due to time and liability. I can't warranty my work or guarantee its reliability because of unknown factors. sorry brotha! They are pretty easy to put together to be honest. These mn models are simple to work on. You will be better off learning the ropes so you can maintain and modify your truck way easier when it comes time. thanks for stopping by!
Watching your channel from philippines , hope im win with your giveways Rc mn d90 sir 😟😢😢😢
