..today I bought this lens 28-70 and tried it on my Leica SL 2 and Panasonic S5, the lens is dexterous, compact, comfortable with the desired focus and gives an excellent result ! Now it will be convenient to shoot reports, weddings and events with 2 cameras simultaneously. On Panasonic S5, this lens stands like a native one, it’s a pleasure to shoot a quick report with it with a rotating screen, and Leica SL 2 now works for its intended purpose on good manual lenses at full power at 47 megapixels, taking rare necessary pictures during the shooting process, which gives maximum potential for every shoot. I'm happy with my purchase, such a needed lens, thanks for the review! ..😀 👍
Nice video. The L-mount is much underrated. In the meanwhile we have a really good choice of lenses, at various price points and apertures. I’ve used the Lumix 24-105 for a while on an SL2-S. The OIS in the lens work together with the IBIS in the camera. At 105mm I had sharp images up to 0.5sec! Overall the Sigma DG DN lenses are 80-90% of the quality of the Leica lenses at 20% of the costs.
I think you are absolutely right. The L-Mount is growing and I like having a mount that is compatible with different manufacturers. This will be a big benefit in the long term.
The 90mm Summicron APO on an M mount is an unbelievable lens, but VERY challenging to focus. If you want to save your pennies for a Leica M lens, get the Summilux 50mm ASPH - it is utterly magical and the focus is doable. The 28mm 'cron is a wonderful walkabout lens. - Great video, thanks
Thanks for sharing. You take great photos and this lens does not seem to hold you back. I liked your video and now I will check out another one. Ciao. Jan.
Was denkst du darüber? Für eine Review des 105 f1,4... aber auf der SL2-S! Welche Filter benutzt du für Videos (28-70)? Danke!
Vielen Dank!
Hi, thanks for the review. I was thinking replacing my big and heavy Leica 24-70 by this one because I’ve the Lumix 12-35 f4 fog wide angle. However, I’m wondering if the 24-105 would be another good option! But it’s a big and heavy lens too. Another option would be to use my Leica M lenses. I’ve already tried and they’re very good. I like shooting in manual mode but for holidays with family, it can be tedious.
@@Christian_Kurz I really like it, autofocus is zippy and IQ is amazing. It’s also not heavy despite it being mostly metal construction. I got with the kit bundle with SL2S because Leica is doing the customer appreciation promo so it was heavily discounted.
Good video. Thanks. But I think Leica made a mistake (again*). Instead of using the Sigma 24-70mm lens as the basis, or the blueprint, for the Leica 24-70mm lens, they should have used the Sigma 28-70mm instead. The Leica 24-90mm is long and heavy and, in the end, unpleasant to carry round all day. The Leica 24-70mm lens improves on that problem, but a Leica 28-70mm lens (presumably at 500g or less) would have perfectly done the trick. Alternatively, the Leica 24-90mm lens could probably have been much more user-friendly if the max aperture had been limited to a straight f/4.0 and not grown to f/2.8 at the short end. (I wrote, "again," because Leica has repeated made mistakes with CL cameras, first by discontinuing the original film version of the 1970s, and second by recently discontinuing its superb modern digital CL, which is the best all-round camera Leica has ever made.)
Very strange topic or title . The only valid issue might be the AF performance on a Leica body. For the rest the question is more if the Leica body is good enough for the Sigma. Some topics like use of a zoom or limitation of 28mm as a wide angle , have nothing to do with Leica . It could be with a Panasonic or a Sony body, it would be the same.
sigm HAVE made sime LwixamZiess lenses. Lwica uses japanese shutters, aensors, electronic circuit components. ok with me, they9re ;rcedes use some japanese ball-bearings..=pay the premium for Leica care in assembly, design of ergonomics, camera functionality, and quality control - the best. the camera you get will be as perfect as humanly possible,.unlikely to fail, ever.
People who buy leica are pretty sure it is better than others .... You paid a stupid price for an s1r with a leica logo !!!! Sigma will be good enough because it's great on Panasonic and your leica is the same. Leica is great at making lens ! Not at making cam. So the answer is yes the sigma will be good enough and i have no choise because i have no money since i paid a cam leica for x4 the real value of it !

Great topic that no one seems to focus on. Looking forward to see more videos from this combo. Well done
Thanks

0.5 sec at 105mm that is actually insane!

Thank you for your advice. I like the 28mm, but I'm thinking about buying a q3 instead...

These are all great options, the only thing I won't recommend, is replacing your 24-70 with the 24-105.
@@Christian_Kurz Hi, thanks for your reply. I know but it’s big and heavy but very good and for travelling it’s not the best compromise.
Great video! I plan to pick this up for my Leica SL2-S as well. Will pair nicely with my SL 50mm f/2 Summicron ASPH
Thank you. How do you like the 50 summicron? I´m thinking about getting it, although I know it's very close to the much cheaper Panasonic Lens.

You told me what I wanted to hear.
Can you link me to a video showing vlogging with AF on the SL2-S? 😊
As a S5 owner the 28-70 is highly appealing to me, but so is the 24-70 Art. Both are great! Still can't decide... weight + price vs 4mm + AFL, hmmm.
Leica lens on Leica body! The only down side, I’m not rich to buy a German Leica lens so for some reason my Leica 24-70 f2.8 is looked down upon 😂

I rather have a Lumix body with a Leica lens than a Leica body and a lowly Sigma... 🤔🤔🤔
Hmm, which lens would you buy? Leica doesn‘t offer small Zooms.
