    Moltres is such a good card imo it's basically Misty but since it's a pokemon you can still use supporter cards

    • @lucianofrancesco4742
      @lucianofrancesco4742 Місяць тому +6

      The energy generation is way better than Misty and you can still use supporters, the tradeoff is that you use your attack and you can't ramp up your active Pokémon.

    These newer decks are taking advantage of always the opening hand starting with a Basic Pokemon.
    I predict the consistency from that will have very trainer and fossil heavy decks popular in many metas.

  • @OMGclueless
    @OMGclueless Місяць тому +2

    I think something that people don't talk about enough is how valuable running 14 trainer cards is. Effortlessly running 2x Giovanni 2x Sabrina 2x Red Card is huge, those are things other decks have to make hard cuts to fit.

    Not having a moltres ex makes fire decks very slow for me. I prefer my aggro Blaine deck. Even though I'm still trying to pull 1 magmar. I've been using heatmor instead.

      I don’t even like magmar. His 2 retreat cost makes him suck imo. I’ve been very happy without him and just playing far fetch or khan

      I play farfetched instead of magmar and have found it to be better in my experience. Better retreat cost + consistent 40 damage as soon as turn 2 of the game especially good in hands where you don’t draw rapidash as a way to set up for mid/late game. Downside is that farfetched is worse in the late game but in Blaine that’s less of an issue.

    • @MrTouchstone86
      @MrTouchstone86 Місяць тому +3

      Stick with heatmoor or farfetched. I can tell you 100% Magmar made my deck clunky as shit. I ALWAYS seem to draw it first, and the cost attack/retreat hoses your ability to get Nine Tails online. I've lost so mnay games to losing thay energy.

      Magmar actually slows down the deck imo, Farfetch'd is much better in blaine deck.

    Onyx/Kabutops never really bricks. Its not too strong but you always guarantee Onyx in the opening hand and its the only deck tgat doesnt need pokeballs. There is, like most decks, only 2 lines of play depending on the rest of the hand. Neither line is rng dependant. In a game that is mostly about flipping coins and topdecks... the same reason why people love Blaine aggro, Mewtwo and Venusaur EX. No coin flipping just conistent 2 lines of play.I just wish this game had more to it. You know the outcome of most games @ turn 3. Its fun but quite shallow. I'm sorry but gotta say it how it is.

    • @carstan62
      @carstan62 Місяць тому

      To be clear, the Onix/Kabutops deck he was looking at also had 1 Farfetch'd. So that specific one isn't quite guaranteed for Onix, but Farfetch'd is an extremely underrated aggressive threat, so I can see it working just fine.

    Kabutops is a nutty card in the primape deck. That healing can really get out of hand

  • @KaiserTheDarkWolf
    @KaiserTheDarkWolf Місяць тому +3

    pikachu is weak to Kabutox so thats the big win of the Brock deck. You have Onix that is sometimes a turn 2 70 attacker with 110 HP for 1 point. Which is very good and the top end againt pikachu decks is a pokemon that cant be kill by a thunder deck at all.

    The fact that ppl think they are applying strategies to a luck based event is mindblowing. If you are a person who got 5 wins, then that was all based off luck.
    If I randomly get 2nd and misty properly my turn 1, then how is that a strategy? Even if the opponent had a mew2 deck it couldn't do a single thing to stop them from losing.
    That said, with everyone running around with the top 3 t1 decks and misty decks, there is no way you win 5 in a row based off skill or strategy.

    I'm not a fan of the Red Card. I would absolutely swap that out for a 2nd Sabrina. Red Card just isn't that useful, in my opinion. The biggest reason being due to deck sizes. The longer you take to play it, the less value it has, in addition to the lack of value you get out of using it at 3 or less in the opponent's hand.
    You can run in to the same problems with Sabrina, with both sometimes ending up buried when they're needed. With a second Sabrina, you have a higher chance of having her when needed and, unlike Red Card, can have more direct and impactful results in her use in games.
    It's a shame Arcanine isn't affected by Blaine, because I would drop the potions for 2 of him to go full aggro. It's weird too, because Arcanine was Blaine's first Ace in Red/Blue/Green. I don't like the Pokemon specific Gym Leader cards at all. Charizard doesn't benefit from Blaine, since nothing survives it's 200 damage anyways, though it does push Arcanine over the top.
    It already hits the 130 benchmark it takes to shutdown a Slowbro stall, so letting it bust through Mewtwo as well might be a bit much.

    • @Kuntrolla
      @Kuntrolla Місяць тому

      They probably didn’t add arcanine for “balance” but kept pikachu as a basic 120hp with auto 90 dmg 🙄

    • @OMGclueless
      @OMGclueless Місяць тому

      I disagree about Red Card. It's been getting better and better especially in tournaments, as people make leaner decks with exactly 2 types of Pokemon which means only 4 basic pokemon cards in the whole deck. This is a good way to abuse the shuffler which makes sure you always have a basic in your starting hand. But it also means you often _only_ have a single basic in your starting hand and that means you will have 4 or 5 cards on turn 2 a large percentage of the time and Red Card tears those hands up (and in turn if your deck is getting torn up this way, having more non-supporter trainer cards to dump for some kind of value early in the game is important).

    • @MartyrPandaGaming
      @MartyrPandaGaming Місяць тому

      @OMGclueless Personally, I think they're jumping to that far too early. Even in the physical game, you didn't see more optimized decks until Jungle released, giving us Haymaker. Raindance didn't come online until Jungle. The only lean deck that had viability, before Jungle released, was Solo Mewtwo and even that didn't hit its stride until the Gym Leader sets dropped. Which was still short-lived due to the rule change from "your oppoenent draws two cards" to "your opponent _may_ draw two" when your opening hand didn't have a Basic.
      Red Card has never, not even once, screwed me over and my opponent playing it has caused me to draw in to what I wasn't drawing myself, leading to a win.
      I tried running Ramp Mewtwo for a whole day, with just the Gardevoir and Mewtwo. It didn't perform nearly as well compared to my Jynx/Slowbro augmented one. Mewtwo is the only wincon to the deck, as Gardevoir's 60 damage might as well be throwing confetti. Meanwhile, Slowbro is able to work as a secondary wincon, if he isn't needed as a damage sponge. That 130 HP makes him nearly insurmountable for all but a couple of cards. Charizard, Blastoise, Arcanine and other Mewtwo are the only ones that can 1 shot it, without relying on a gimmick. There is no way you can cut it that doesn't show how strong Slowbro is for a Stage 1, non-Ex.
      Personally, I think people have over-optimized some of the decks and it exposes weakness, such as Red Card. With Jynx and Slowbro, there isn't as much pressure on this deck to have Mewtwo win it every time. I don't need it every time, because it has more backup than the battery that is Gardevoir.
      Edit: I had forgotten Raichu as well. That card can be a theat, especially if there is a Magneton to help ramp it. Raichu is the only non-Ex better than Slowbro, since it can also OHKO Mewtwo with a Giovanni.

    • @germanelkapo1
      @germanelkapo1 Місяць тому +1

      You can trick your opponent into losing advantage with Red Card if you make a play that makes your opponent think you have a specific card, but it's extremely situational, i only pulled it off once, made my opponent go -3 with it (didn't get the card i needed, but my chances to get it had more than tripled from that).

  • @BrianSavoie-qw6iq

    I only see the arcanine option worth doing if misty decks werent a thing
    Thats just denying reality. Hell, even without misty theres some decent water pokemon out there all on their own.
    Kabutops is good but thats a loooot of time moving from a fossil to all that. Theres no evolution searches right now so i dont feel like top decking my win condition. Thats just the marrowak coin flip without the coin
    This is probs why Pikachu Ex is the most prominent. It's just the most consistent and least time investment. Misty and Marrowak luck based, Machamp, Kabutops, and everything else requiring your opponent doing nothing
    All the options are just kinda bad lol.

    • @randyjr.arsenio5624
      @randyjr.arsenio5624 Місяць тому

      Misty decks are trash. They can potentially lose you a tournament as Misty is potentially a dead card whereas all the rest have full consistent value. Heck I'd take Brock over Misty any day.
      Water decks without misty are not bad because Starmie is indeed a beast but the biggest problem is Pikachu and his buddies running everywhere and stopping starmie from doing their job.

    • @germanelkapo1
      @germanelkapo1 Місяць тому

      @@randyjr.arsenio5624 Not to mention that, with people finding out you can land heads based on execution rather than luck, if they don't patch that, Frosmoth is kind of a problem... Nvm, goes both ways, you could also always wake up by this logic.
