- Now that all the pine trees have come down our property is looking rather bare... it's time to get planting!
Join us in this week's video as we plant the grass bank in our bottom paddock in New Zealand native trees and shrubs. We also look at some of the other trees on the property that are becoming a problem and need replanting.

Thanks for watching 👍 The first installement of our South Island adventure will be out this Monday, stay tuned!
The good life eh. You're certainly putting your stamp on the place.
Yeh we sure are haha! Lots of work but it’s pretty enjoyable 😊
yea hiring stuff on a Saturday is awesome.
It’s not bad aye!
Love the enthusiasm and how much enjoyment you are getting from working on your beautiful property, it is going to be awesome watch😃
Thanks TJ! We are really enjoying seeing all our grand plans unfold 😊 lots of work but will be well worth it!
Wow fantastic work guys 👍 It's going to look awesome with all those natives in due course 😀
Yeh hopefully! They are loving all this rain haha
@@AdventuresWithRosy Good timing weather wise 👍 Will be interesting to see if all the bark is still there though upon your return 🤔
It's good to see that you're already enjoying the fruits of your labour. My shrub planting hack was to invite friends to bring a spade to a housewarming bbq and, instead a gift, to plant the shrubs I had bought. We had a lot of fun, 'slightly' alcohol fuelled of course, and it saved me the backbreaking task of hole digging in clay. Once your flax bushes have got themselves established for a few years they'll have 'pups' that grow off the side. You can remove the pups and plant them, giving you an endless supply of flax. Bottlebrush may not be endemic to NZ but the tui love their nectar and they aren't expensive to buy, around $10 I think for the common variety. The land is looking good and 🤞 that the rain we've had will be enough to get everything settled. You've 'chosen' a good year for summer planting! Happy travels.
Yeh this rain has been awesome! What a great idea getting friends to help haha, we have had family helping out with the planting and it’s been great 😊 good idea with the flax pups, there will be loads of spots around the place we could use them so that will be great!
Looks great - so where's the pop going...? Tee hee.
Haha good question! Maybe up the top of the property once all the pine trees come down 😁
You're doing such a good job that you are very welcome here ;) :)
Haha maybe once we have got through our pile 😉😁
Should look beautiful in the future, The argument, acting 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣, Can't wait to tour NZ, in a few years, If I live that long, Cheers Bevan 🤠❤️🦘🦘🇦🇺
Haha yeh you saw right through out argument? 😉
i planted 30 redwoods on our property in napier 20 years ago they are now 30 metres tall i also have dawn redwoods almost as big. dawn redwoods are deciduous
Oh nice! I really like the redwoods, wouldn’t mind planting a few at our place too 😀
Fantastico! Tanto lavoro, il risultato sarà bellissimo. Saluti da Italia.❤️
Grazie mille 😊
@@AdventuresWithRosy 🥰❤️
Gee you've been working hard! You will soon be able to sit back and enjoy the fruits of your labour. Enjoy getting away!
Yeh fruit will be the next think we plant I reckon! Then we really can start enjoying it haha! I want a feijoa as big as yours!
The bay tree could have been topiarised and kept as a smaller specimen and would have been useful closer to the house for cooking purposes. I was literally yelling no as you were yanking it out and replanting it. Aside from the mistreatment of the beautiful bay tree - amazing work 🌿
I didn’t even think of keeping it small! That would have been a great idea 👍 it’s actually been doing really well in its new spot, looks nice and healthy 😊
Are you going to turn it into a Park Over Property and invite everyone to stay? 😃
It’s not a bad idea! Maybe once we have tidied up all the wood haha
@@AdventuresWithRosy I prefer Park Over Properties (POPs) over NZMCA parks. I recently stayed at the Scottland POP in Bannockburn, Central Otago, for around 2 weeks. They provide water and a dump station, as well as a view of Central Otago. It would be great if NZ had POPs everywhere 😃
Good progress so far ,also echo the pop ??
Might have to aye! We have the space for one 😀
