- Part of our MGS5 mission walkthrough guide at www.gosunoob.co... . This video shows how to avoid the Skulls unit in the Phantom Limbs mission in Metal Gear Solid 5. This is one of the secret tasks for this mission and it might not be apparent, because this is one of the first missions in the game and players still haven't fully mastered the game's systems. I show a way to avoid them on horseback (since this is the way I did it the first time I managed to avoid them) and an easier method using an empty mag tool.

The hell? People are discussing tactics on how to avoid these things while I thought the only way was to actually get their attention for story advancement. I put the dude on the horse and just Leroy Jenkined the shit out of them. Fuckers started leaping and teleporting and shit. But I got out.
One of the bonus objectives is to remain undetected by the Skulls...

put miller onto your horse

get the horse to bring miller to you

Fallsyion This is just for the optional objective. S Rank is all about time so you can just run past them if you want that.
After rescue Kaz, use Idroid change the LZ location, you can ride helicopter away without facing with skull unit.
After you pick him up, open idroid map menu , push direction button to helicopter, then choose a new landing zone.
Replaying this after years and years and this is the way to do it.
Funny thing is, in all the times I've done this mission, Iv'e never even encountered them. I always just called the chopper to a closer spot.

Yeah but you need to get the diamonds for a perfect mission
When detected, all you need to do is to get close enough to the new LZ and they disappear as per script.
I found that waiting until the ones on the bridge are halfway over, works. You can throw magazines to distract the ones on the bridge, and under the bridge, then sneak past them, even with Miller on your shoulders. The ones on the left side / under the bridge have a funky detection pattern, they sometimes see the magazine thrown from 60m away and make a combat alert.

You can just get the heli to pick you up from another spot, super easy!
+TheShopka Wow that was easy! Didn't even pay a fee for the helicopter.
And what spot is that exactly? Lol heli wont land in the storm....and other spots is past the skulls
+Gediminas Peleckis You call the chopper in before you enter the mist area. So while the chopper is comming, before you meet the skulls call it again to change it's landing area.
ocelot does it for you, the game forces you into this cutscene
OGP you need to destroy the air radar and dismiss the support helicoptor or just select another landing zone for the helicoptor.It is easy and i S rank the mission.Well you can just kill the skulls,they are very weak.

So Umm you dont even need to interact with them I just replayed the mistion and called the helcoper in to LZ at the bace (you do need to have taken out the radar thing) if you want a super easy way just chage the pick up point
No idea why this comes up in on my suggested after all these years.
I never even knew there were skulls in this mission... I always just called a closer LZ 😂
QUICKER EASIER WAY (if you have sleep grenades)
1 stay hidden
2 land a sleep grenade in front of them so they stay in it ( they don't run unless alerted)
3 let the nade do its thing
4 repeat until they drop
5 walk right past them lol
accidentally managed to do this same way. this is ridiculous though
LOL i just pop in sleep gas to the other side they would look the other side of the bridge and i noped away like a normal person takes me less than a 30 second
Anyway thats why i love this game because we have different creative way to do the mission

seems overly complicated, i just went under the bridge and blasted past them by going up the side rout.

Just Put Miller on Your Horse And Charge Right Through Them and as long as You Keep Juking Their Line of Firing You'll be Fine.
Think there's a task where u must avoid these guys to get it done
just get on the horse and ride past them they hit you like 3 times then give up
you could just run past them with d horse

Or....... Remain undetected entire mission and the sculls never show up at all!! ;)
They're main part of this mission so I guess the only way to not trigger them is to not play the mission.
