How to play Jon Schmidt's "All of Me"
Вставка
- Опубліковано 9 лют 2025
- By request, I created this tutorial video from an earlier MIDI recording I had made (the same one as used in my All of Me MIDI 3D video). Since this is my own performance, it's not identical to Jon's sheet music, but I tried to clean up the most glaring errors and quantized it to hopefully make it easier to follow. Also note that the sustain pedal is used ad-lib throughout, so don't go by the note lengths alone.
It will play through twice, first at half speed and then at full speed beginning at 6:05.
Original sheet music available at thepianoguys.c...
My MIDI file available at drive.google.c...
I've spent a whole year watching this video among a few others trying to learn how to play and I finally got most of it down. Now I just need practice, practice and practice. Knowing how to read notes would've help me a ton.
you DO NOT know how to read notes and you CAN play piano???@@ how the hell??? fully respect from me!!!
Anh Tuan It is quite easy actually, lots of guys I know, myself included, do this.
Yeah, but I'm sure knowing how to read the notes would help a ton, I only know how to play "Imagine" by John Lennon, "Für Elise" by Ludwig von Beethoven, and "In Dreams" by Howard Shore
Hi guys, I cannot read notes, yet I have a better sense of music than most of my friends... Never done a wrong note when I sing, EVER. Its a pain when trying to learn through notes when some very tricky voices, songs and lyrics have difficult tempo and beats...
but knowing how to read notes would make your lives ^ wayyy eassier! and it's not a difficult thing to learn! you all can play without knowing how to read notes, now that you know, imagine all the possibilities!!! Gluck to you all!
It took me 2 days to memorize up to 1:49, and now I can play it fairly decently after a week. It helps that I listen to this and the original close to 24/7 apart from sleeping/school(and then since I've memorized the entire melody, I hum it in my head 24/7 at school too) so I basically know exactly how it should sound like :D
Thank you for this.
ik I'm a bit late but can you tell me how long u have been learning piano?
@@vekashs7770 most professionals have been playing their whole lives. I've been playing for 8 years and I'm nowhere near this level. It'll take me a while to learn this song.
@@gartyqam it doesn't matter how long you've been learning piano. I've watched another cover by a person who learned the piano for only 1 year and still managed to play the whole piece. Piano is a fundamental instrument, so it's easier to learn how to play on it compared to other instruments. You just need a lot of patience and practice:)
@@Ariadne4 how about no
HUENINGKAI TXT JUST DO THIS PIANO THAT PEOPLE CAN'T DO IT WOW!!
Lol yeah he was playing it a lul faster than the original that’s why he messed up and just stopped . But he most likely can play the whole thing
absolutely brilliant.. I was skeptical when i came here but this video made me so happy :') you're really creative
I'm just staring at my screen for 9 minutes, so fascinated! It's so pretty.
This is E-XAC-TLY what i've been looking for! Thank you so much!!!
Omggggg... I CANNOT thank you enough!!!!! Thank you sooo much!!! You're gonna get like a million views, i bet, because everyone wants to learn. THANK YOU!!! YOU ARE AMAZING!!
12 years and not there yet... 😐
I absolutely love when the octaves come in!!! Thanks so much!
Because of this, I learned it a bit, printed the sheet music, and am now playing this for the talent show-!!!
Thx so much! This is my most favorite piano guys song ever! I've only learned up to 0:11, but I will learn more along the way because of you! I'm so happy that you made this
Learned over half of it so far. Thanks!
Thank you so much for the video and a midi file! I'm learning the composition by this video (as many of other people) 🙏🏼
I learned 1 minute and 20 seconds of this in the past two days! I say it's pretty easy to learn, but extremely hard to play. :/
remember this calen? 9 years ago you commented

I'm nearly at the end! I have to practice the middle part and i've done the song! Thank u very much!!
This inspired me to print the sheet music! I learned it in two months! I memorized it and now im gonna see if I can play it for the talent show at our school! Thx for the video! I wanted to learn it with just this, but then I found that the music was very easy to read!
Jon schmidt's all of me is my favorite music. LOVE your video
Agreed KwJake. What a fun song to play. Thanks for posting this slow version. I found this very helpful in concert with the sheet music purchased from the pianoguys website. Great song Jon !!!
Wow! Thanks, just what I was looking for! Greatly appreciated!
Many have said the slow version should be slower, but you're the first to say the fast version should be faster. So thanks. :)
Also, full speed is subjective. It should only be played as fast as it can be played cleanly and steadily. But for the sake of this video, full speed is the tempo marked on the sheet music.
: O Much more complex than I thought.
Sincere thanks for putting up this video. Just what I needed.
all i can do is envy the people who can play this (((((
SAME! I hope we can play it someday!I memorized up to :11, but I hope I can do more later:)
I learned all of it after two months! You should try! Its super easy because its all black notes except for 2 white ones (c and f) its actually pretty easy now that I practice it at home and in lessons:)
@@ashnikfield4224 me too :D
@JJRicks Studios did you memorize this too? If so did you put a cover? You can check out my newest cover on my channel if you want! I’m obsessed with this song!
Gotta practice
what a beautiful music it is.
not really familiar with western media and was asked to play this at a wedding. thanks for this, really helps to not have to go in blind sided. i know i'll have this on repeat for a while.
just finished this song. Feels so good.
I can play most of this! I got the sheet music but I started with your video! Tux for doing this!
*Thx
That and it is an amazing song from the piano guys, well done keep it up! :)
iv been learning this song via your video and thepanospecialist video and mixing my favorite parts :D your really good
This video is really helpful!
and probably some hours and patience to learn it ! Thx for this cool answer ;)
6:05 full speed
Thx for slow version
My music teacher said he would give me £200 if I learn and perform this by the end of s1.
Wish me luck.
Good luck
good luck, please tell us how it went 🤍
I learned this song a while back, and I have one piece of advice: if you can't read music, learn how to. This is infinitely easier by reading it. I cant even imagine how long it would take to learn by watching videos. Also, the song has some complex rhythms. Sheet music guides you right through them, but you can't get the full picture by watching this. Good luck! :)
True, but this can give you a better sense of where to put emphasis and stuff like that. I've gotten help for complicated rhythms by watching these things. But that's probably me just being weird.
+Zephyr Your advice isn't applicable to all and definitely not infinitely easier. Some of us can read notes and play widow, and watching this makes it faster to learn.
its better to learn how to sight read..this might be slightly confusing when learning trough this way.. just my opinion. =)
+sean ssyw I agree. But this does help some who would find note reading a complete road block, and I don't want to deny them the pleasure of playing some good Jon Schmidt. :)
True..haha
i play by ear
I'm a person who can both sight-read and learn by ear. In fact, I became so over-trained with learning sight reading for a number of years, I kind of forgot the way I played for the first 10 or so years of my life was by listening and picking out the things I heard.
After becoming an amateur sound engineer and learning how to use loops and sound-generating platforms, it was the perfect way to marry both of those skill sets.
Notes on a page can be gruellingly difficult to visualize whilst playing on a piano layout -- especially regarding songs with a tempo above 140 BPM. Therefore....I love things like this that bridge the gap.
you can just create your own music sheet from here
thx for sharing midi you are amazing ;) all the best
Feel free to play it at any speed you like. Just don't make mistakes. :)
I don't really play piano but seeing this.......maybe i'll give it a shot. haha. thanks for this great vid!
Have you watched his own version on ThePianoGuys channel? You'll see there that he uses his whole arm for that perticular part. That's one of the reasons why it's called "All of Me" according to himself
Haha I might someday try this! THANKS!!
great tutorial :x
Depends what part you're asking about :)
MIDI capture/playback: Anvil Studio
Audio capture: Audacity
MIDI clean-up: tempo-map.exe from Div's MIDI Utilities
MIDI clean-up: Sekaiju
Video generation: Synthesia

Video/Audio assembly & rendering: Sony Vegas Movie Studio HD 9.0
God bless for doing this video!;)
Lovely variation at 7:42 and 8:57
best part form 0:00 to 0:14
@wowmoviescores I agree, a slower version can definitely help us a lot. I'm truly amazed that this MIDI sounds as good as that of from the original artist's CD: it's flawless, natural, and enjoyable to listen to. Must have taken a lot of work to produce this.
At first "Meh. Easyyy!" Then 6:05 "...Ok I prefer playing Tap Tap"
It's actually a lot simpler than it seems, just MAKE SURE you follow the fingerings as written in the music. By that I mean this: It seemed to me like it was alternating LRLRLRL throughout the part when I watched the video, but it's actually mostly left hand. Use your thumb for the bottom notes of the chord, and practice slowly to learn the alternation. RRLRR RLRRLRR, RRRLRR etc. Left isn't used much at all.
if there was a piano hero game and this song was in it...no one would ever play it!
full speed…oh Shite! I was just getting this down. ahhhh
Thk you very much very nice job
I have everything up to 0:05 memorized
Don't stop there! 😉
Beautifull song. I realize that this song use black tooth more often than the white one.
Thank you, i was just wondering it my note is really the original one that's it : )
wow!
Because writing the whole link is too mainstream :D
Gj btw !
@xThexPianoxBoyx and Jon even has a note reading method that can help!
Request sent. :) Thanks!
I was wondering how one could buy a digital piano that isn't electric... then I realized ALL pianos are digital. Think about it. What part of your body do you use to play it? (Jon Schmidt, put your hand down.)
If I was more patient I could learn this song... I get frustrated when it doesn't sound right so it makes me want to quit... :/
4 years on, did you manage to learn it?
@@harryjones100 I actually did quit 😂 I may try again someday but I'm not as much a music performer as I am a music creator so I'm doing what I love to do and maybe someday I'll learn to tackle the harder piano pieces for fun :)
If you ever complete it one day, please share it here, we'll go like your video
Should go do it bro. I’m starting now and I don’t play piano ;) there’s a few good tutorials out there
@Pookkeey1995 I created this MIDI myself, but Jon Schmidt has his own available for download from his site now, too.
the same amount, but you also need your forearms and usage of your thumb on two notes at once
In fact there are some diffrent versions, the one that Jon has uploaded is not exactly the same as the original sheets, which are more like this version.
Challenge accepted.I'm going to do this but after i learn the Coldplay - Clocks Adrian Lee version :D
1:00 ×2
두배속해보시면 생각하시던 all of me 가 나옵니다
Indeed there are some different versions :) Jon did add a few notes here and there on his channel. But yeah, this is close to the sheets, but however not exact :P Not trying to offend you or anything, just saying
I'd suggest downloading Jon's official sheet music from his site. That's what I learned from. The only intentional difference in my "version" is in 2 measures near the ending, but you can easily see what I did there in this video (around 5:44).
Wow nice...
The 86 dislikes are people who can not play XD
nice
You should do can’t help falling in love in synthesia
could you upload the midi pls?
Thank you very much! But you have to touch the low Gb on the same time as the second chord in the first measure, not already at the beginning. And don't tap the high Gb again on the first measure.
This is the speed that it is meant to be played as. The same speed as the video of schmidt playing it himself. The other covers are too fast.
@WheresWaldo51 I don't see any B-flat octaves... Do you mean the C-flat at measure 5? I play that as written in Jon's PDF. But on the very first note I do play a lower G-flat than written because I think it sounds better and more like his MP3.
I can play this because I bought the sheet music, the sheet music is 10x more complicated. This version plays single notes instead of chords and less octaves but it is good for some parts which are difficult. Just my opinion
Half speed is created but full speed is just playing the video of half speed because Jon Schmidt is playing that's y there is a difference for the paddle
Please do a tutorial of waterfall by Jon Schmidt next! : )
how's 5:02 possible??? I don't even have that many fingers!!!
haha derp It's only 2 fingers and 1 forearm.
thwack318 OMG I thought u were joking but just watched a tutorial and u had to use a forearm hahah thank so much for reply
could you tell me what "forearm" is?, and where you found that tutorial? plzzzzzzz
@@miguelmurray6509 forearm is like the side of your arm, you can find tutorial by searching pretty much any tutorial of the song
do you have a link to the tutorial?
Is there any chance that you share the .midi you created with everyone ? It will be so nice from you so that we will be able to enjoy ourselve the song too. Thank you
@MindOverMattur Hmm, according to archive.org it was taken down within the past year.
I put a link in the description.
Your notes at the first part is not like the original one is it? From 0.10-0.16 at the end there are three notes missing?
It plays at half speed first, then at 6:05, it goes to full speed.
What did you use to record this?! The sound is soo clear
It is computer generated
Do you guys find this isn't identical to the original? I find certain parts in this version are more complicated than when Jon plays it.
Focus on the accents (which repeat later in the melody) and master it at a very slow tempo before trying to take it faster.
More because writing the whole link disables posting. :)
Thanks!
oh come on, i bet you wont get into any trouble if you released the midi file. you should do it.
What program are you using?
@thwack318 the download on his site has to be bought
Is it possible to have your MIDI file for personnal use ?
Can you make one with 25 percent instead of half speed? People will actually learn from a 25 percent speed one
Hello , I'm a human being with 2 hands and 10 fingers, I just would like to know how many other hand I needed to play this ?
A forearm (no, really)
yeah i can't master that part either, even when i play it really slow. Is there some kind of pattern in it?
well, its all about listening...u have to listen original song by autor many times...and put a melody to your heart..then it should be much easier to play
you should all make the subject for the emails "MIDI Release request"
The'll notice it more
I am having trouble learning the part from 6:37 to 6:56. Any advice for me?
I’ve got frustrated but the notes are incorrect. Original Schmidt is different in verse on left hand author!
I never liked those last three notes in Jon's sheet music. He doesn't play them in his August End album version.
can you do the piano guys version of phillips phillips home?
