$1800 for transportation; $6 per foot (6 x 60 = $360) to drop; $7 per foot to step (raise: $420). As a single-hand sailor, I needed to spend the night in the marina for sails and rigging, at each end - so, add that. I think we can estimate the mast/transit cost at about $3K. Not cheap - however, multiple people who paid all the same expenses as me - with multiple hands on deck - needed to construct braces or pay to have it done to carry their masts, and they also said the lock experience was so nerve wracking they wished they paid for transport and had a clean deck. I had no choice - solo in locks with 10 feet of overhang at each end from the mast on deck, I'd still be stuck sideways in lock 13, like a toothpick holding up your eyelid. Yup. Thanks for watchig and the question.
Hey Denis Derek here on s C400 We have a lack of propane storage(1 10lb tank) on our boat and was wondering if the 42 has the same issue? Just brought her up to toronto from Long Island. Enjoy your trip to New York if your not already there and gone
Hey, Derek - My 2001 has a propane well on each side of my cockpit; right where the cut out is in the cockpit benches for the wheel. Thanks for subscribing- let me know if I can be helpful in any way.
Thanks for the reply Dennis. Not far enough into your videos to know where your going but we've done the east coast to Bahamas and ended in Guatemala. Looking forward to watching your adventures. Derek SV Sandii
Wow! I've just single handed from Lake Micigan through most of the Erie Canal - I should be the the Atlantic by mid July. I'll get to the Chesapeake and take a leisurely and fun schedule toward the post hurricane season Bahamas. Is your Guatemala trip posted anywhere,?
Please forgive the typos - I'll blame a need for sleep at the moment on the hook in the Erie Canal. Good day today - survived some windy locks and big drops.
I am exhausted just watching :) It’s a ton of work and fun by the looks of things…
30 locks - most were fun. By the end of that stretch, I was happy to get on the Hudson - for sure.
Wow! I can only imagine the strength it takes to navigate those channels!
Well, if I can do it . . . ( ; )
@@dennismckee7934 you’re too funny! Thanks for the mug!
Thanks for watching and being so supportive, Danette!!
I didn’t know that the mast was dropped to navigate the canal. What is the total cost?
