As a former United States Army Military Police Officer! Thank you for letting us know that you are Therapy for me by bringing attention to Non-Vets in what actually happened! God Bless you and yours. Michael ❤
14 million civilians murdered by the Japanese? I just don't understand the lack of revulsion shown to them by society. We condemn the Nazis (and rightly so), poke at Stalin and avoid the Japan issue. They were barbaric.
You're right to point out that everyone talks about nazis and russians during the war, but omit japanese how they treated POW...they were truly horrific and barbaric.
I'm not sure why the Japanese get off the hook so much during the war. But they did some things not even the Germans or Russians did. There are accounts of Japanese soldiers practicing cannibalism, but this might have been because their food sources ran out.
When anyone talks about Japanese being "innocent" and getting nukes you need to mention Nanking, the Bataan death march, Unit 731 and dozens of other massacres , the nukes were necessary otherwise all of our POWs and millions more of civilians would've perished that way!
The conventional aerial bombing and fires had already destroyed most of the big Japanese cities. More died in several of the conventional bombing raids than in either Atomic Bombs. There wasn't much left of big targets to bomb. That did not guide them to give up. It was the Russians entering Manchuria and making quick work of their forces there. If they did not surrender, soon to the Western Allies, the Communist were going to hang the Emperor upside down in a gas station in Downtown Tokyo. It's called the "Full Mussolini." Otherwise, the Emperor could take the Hitler inspired "Bunker Bullet."
Probabilly, hadn't the US trown the A bombs against the Japan, this would've been the destiny of every POW in their hands, they tought (wrongly) that could've went scot free from their atrocities, also if some avoided the gallows.
It's a terrible shame that so few Japanese military were executed for war crimes, when you see how many there were, and the many who were completely free at the end of the war. It is also terrible that many of these war criminals are resting in places of honour in Japan. Their bodies should have just been cremated and cast into rubbish dumps etc. I very much doubt that the civilian Japanese people would have wanted their military to behave in such a barbaric inhumane way towards innocent civilians, women, children, men and POWs, had they known what was going on by their own troops.

Yes sir.
Because the U.S. has continually needed the Japanese as an ally since 1945
We have let the Japanese 🏯 get away with war crimes, because we love our Toyota cars !..

Dude does your computer not have spellcheck?
Acctually A bomb was used more to warn Stalin
Interesting!!!
When the general didn't care about his own soldiers he would care every little for his prisoners. Hanging was too good for him!

There were more executions in the European theater. Also, the Japanese Emperor was complicit with his generals.
