Jon well stated, just came across this video and tried this technique and putted much better with the elbows anchored, the forearms facing up help maintain better control although it does seem weird at first ! Appreciate you taking the time to share instruction and advice ! I hope all is well for you !! Thank-you.
I used to be a great putter. Then I lost it, sometimes missing what should have been a gimme. Watched video after video and bought several new putters blades malets etc to no avail until I saw this video. Thank you So much, Jon! You saved my sanity
jonathan, good putting tip with the stick under the arms. what style of putter works best with the natural arc such as a face balance, toe down or something in between?
Thanks Steve. The more tow down the more it should arc. What’s right, depends on the golfers miss tendencies. If face path moving too far in, face to open and the golfer is struggling with a push, you may try something closer to face balanced. The reality is I’ve seen great putters with styles that you wouldn’t think would suit. I guess more to do with look, weighting, feel etc
I like the concept.. But, since the putter path is going to be more of an arc, how do you aim? Where will the putter face be square to target? When I do this technique I find my knees flexing back and forth a tiny bit on longer puts. Is that OK?
Nobody out there really gets the putter moving straight back and through as we stand to the side of the ball. Just varying amount of arc’s. Many of the great putters have had the strongest arcs. I would get the ball under lead chest (keep consistent) then use a string line or gate to make sure you’re squaring the face at impact.
HI your like all the rest PUTTING ON FLAT GREENS what I mean is NO ONE shows us HOW OR WHERE THE BALL IS GOING TO GO UP ON TWO LEVELS OF MCKENZIE DESIGN GREEN . THE GREENS AT WOOLLEY HAVE 4 OF THEM but all anyone shows us are flat greens with slopes . not ridges , WHAT ARE YOU ALL SCARED TO FAIL .? PAUL
You seem to have lost the point of this video Paul, it’s about the shoulders and arms in putting technique not titled putting on slopes. However this was not a straight putt. I’m confused what you want to see, a video on green reading, when dealing with extreme breaks?
Very interesting thoughts - I'll give'm a try!
How did you get on?

You’re very welcome! Glad to hear it’s helped 👍🏻

Glad it helped! Amazing to hear and glad you have your sanity back!!
New way! Its more consistent! Thank you!
I will try it tomorrow my putting has been so bad I really must improve it.
I watched this and it was monumental as to raising the bar for making more puts and mental outlook
Thank you John
fantastic putting tip easy to understand
Looks good, can’t wait to try it on the course. Thanks
Great video. I had excellent results with this putting technique.
Great to hear! 👂
May I ask, trail palm should be facing out toward sky more than lead side or not
I will let you know when I try it tomorrow hopefully
Makes a lot of sense , probably best to improve consistency from 10 feet or so. Will give it agood try
How did you get on? Apologies for the delayed response

@@TruGolfAcademy jonathan, one more question, what ball position do you recommend?
This technique combined with my Garsen putter grip saved me from my putting yips! I feel so confident on the greens now.
Great job! So glad to hear you’ve got over the yips 👍🏻
First did a few days try-out(practice) Tried it last weekend and it works so well 👍🙏🙏
Great to hear 👏🏼
Great putting video. You are a very talented teacher. Will highly recommend this to players at all levels of skill.
Many thanks 🙏

You’re a darn good putter!!!
Too kind
Super drill! Love it and will definitely try to solve my putting woes. Thanks.
Thanks, hope it helps! A drill I really like to help rotation.
Very Good Video.
I like this putting drill. In term of mind focus upon putting, do you focus on the direction or distance after hitting the ball?
Great tip!
Thank you!
Excellent again!!
Very informative, helped me tremendously
3 out of 3'just how I showed you.great putting drill.can't wait to get on the practice green and try it
😂😂 Hope you’re keeping well and playing some good stuff mate
How do you incorporate this technique using the Saw grip?
Your trail elbow will definitely be further from chest. So the cane would have to be higher under armpit to use the drill I would guess
is it legal in 2024 to lock your elbows to your side? in my case just the left elbow with a split grip basically using just my right hand.
Absolutely, it’s only the club that can’t be anchored to your body
@@TruGolfAcademybig thanks!
I like it.
as soon as I signed up the video disappeared and I can't get it back what a deal!!

The only thing of importance here is the shoulder movement. You showed only once from down the line, the 2nd putt. Rotate the shoulders.
Pressure over lead foot is key also and keeping the elbows close allows the shoulders to rotate
