People: I win a lottery!!
Their family member whom they never heard of: It's OUR lottery winning!
This is why you don't tell anyone. Literally your partner only.
"Three people can keep a secret if two of them are dead."
Haha communism
Yeah some states let you stay anonymous some dont.
I'd give a payout to my immediate family members and donate to the Humane Society of the United States. Then, I'd payoff my house and any other of our (me and hubby) our bills. Everything else is going in the bank. Some will go in stocks.

The real question is why does he have so much cash?
I agree
Annelise Lim he won the lottery
Aviatial I think he meant to say why so much money in a suitcase.
Noodle Rice oh lol sorry
The best thing to do if you won a lottery is to not tell anyone you won
wat ok boi
Exactly
Some Lotteries require winners to allow media release of their name and likeness.
ikr i agree
@@davidcohen7881 Here in Germany it's illegal for lottery companies to do that.
I never understood why lottery winners CANT remain anonymous. Revealing their identity puts such a huge target on their back
In that case you can hire a lawyer. And have and put it in a trust. And have the trust claim it. There are companies that do that for lotto winners.
Possibly fir marketing. Even now with real people winning, sone people feel like lotteries are rigged or fake, etc
In Europe you can remain anonymous if you want
In certain states you can’t be anonymous
In my country of South Africa, it’s required to give a name but it can be any name. I once saw that Prince Charles won
It’s only a nightmare if you’re dumb with the winnings.
👍
😕😁
Yup, if you're smart you should invest, or just live a bit more of a wealthier life.
If I won hundreds of millions after tax I'd buy a challanger, a $700,000 house in a gated community, and spend my days traveling. Luckily I'm stingy with myself with what I got now which is not much at all haha
It's easy to not be dumb when you cant afford to be dumb with your money. (No hate towards anyone i literly have $22 in the bank.) I wouldnt be dumb with $700 million dollars is what I think but that doesnt mean that's what I'd do.
Do everything you can to stay anonymous. Set up a trust, show up with a mask on, do whatever it takes. You can invest wisely and all that, but if your identity is revealed, you’ll have headaches for the rest of your life. The goal is to be a secret multi-millionaire and still be able to hang with friends and family, but never EVER let anyone know that you won.
Your home and car need to be nice but modest. If you can’t clean the house yourself, don’t buy it. You’ll regret having to blow money to hire a squad of people to take care of it, and property taxes never stop. If the car would turn heads, it is not for you. You know all those nasty thoughts you’ve had about wealthy people? Now you’re one of them. You want your friends, family, and strangers to resent you before you open your mouth? You want people constantly trying to take advantage of you? You want to live with that constant paranoia that your partner is in it for the bag and not you?
Act normal, just with a slight upgrade. You can afford that vacation now. You can afford to chase your dream career. You can afford those concert tickets. Live happily, but don’t live loudly. You have nothing to prove.
I like it
That’s how I would play it, for sure! Except that I would buy my children houses. A modest, regular house. No McMansions.
Even when you win you can't win........ain't that funny
i read this in the narrator’s voice
Yes, do show up in a bank with a mask on.
I have to correct you with your last lottery winner. The woman from South Carolina was already VERY wealthy and she sued the state of South Carolina to remain anonymous. Her attorney told the state lottery board she will just walk away from the winning if she lost the lawsuit... but she has enough funds to challenge the lottery rules all the way to the Supreme Court. As a result, South Carolina changed their lottery rules and she did not have to come forward.
Smart lady she is.
She basically threatened them into changing the rules 8D That's amaaazing!

Nigerian relatives: Hello there
Just don’t tell anyone once u get the lottery
MY NAME IS OH

So, the family members are corrupt to the core? They like money.
All Lottery winnings should be anonymous, it just seems dangerous to show the public who just won the union depository within the day
If all were anonymous you would start to wonder if anyone is really winning or if the lottery system/government getting rich off of dreamers? The woman who claimed anonymous 11 months later also had people doubting she was real. There's no way someone would hold a ticket for that long. She ran the risk of losing the ticket, someone robbing her home randomly and finding the ticket, she could have died before cashing in, etc etc etc. My guess is that the lottery system/government cashed in on that money so that it wouldn't get put back into the pooled system.

Here in Germany lottery winnings (or any winnings from gambling) are tax-free. So if you win 38 million (that's the highest the jackpot can go, as far as I know) you get 38 million. And you stay anonymous.

Just evade tax
They tax the prize before they give it out, so if the prize were like $750m, he would receive like half of it due to taxes
@@yungdon1934 No, you receive a little more than half because you didn't choose the annuity. The amount you receive is still taxed after that. If you won $100 million but took the lump sum you might get $60 million. Then you have to pay income tax on that $60 million, most of which is at the highest rate of 37% in the US. So the amount you actually receive on that $100 million winnings would be ~$37,800,000

1) Don't tell anyone apart from the lottery company, your bank, and financial adviser

I’m lucky to live in a state where winners can be anonymous. I would show up to work the next day. I would call my financial advisor, get a lawyer and claim the prize at the appropriate time. Clearly in recent years, lottery winners have gotten much smarter. It was always an age old saying that winning the lottery was the worst thing that could happen, but I am curious how that saying would look today? They also got annoyed because when they couldn’t pay rent anymore they applied for benefits, which was denied.
