Ok, I don't know if any of you will ever read this. But, now that were done with the first season I want to include or...expand on some information that was left out of the anime. All of this is info that you would have by this point if you read the webtoon. The author of the Webtoon absolutely loves his story building and lore. Which is why so many people are in love with it. Unfortunately the anime changed, left out, or mistranslated a lot of it. Which would be fine in most anime, but since ToG is so intricate these changes or omissions kind of have a big impact later on. It's been a while since I read the first season so if anyone has anything to add or corrections that are strictly specific to the first season, go ahead. I don't think any of this is a spoiler at all, but I'll still leave some space incase you want to keep the anime and the webtoons separate. 1. At the end of the first season Bam is absolutely broken. He isn't ready to clime the tower to find out why this happened or anything like that. He is done, depressed, betrayed, and lonely. 2. In the Webtoon, Endorsi and Bam spend a lot of time together training, I mean A LOT. Not counting Kun, he probably spends the most time with Endorsi. She sees Bam as the opposite of her and she absolutely adores him for that reason. 3. They do a horrible job at explaining regulars vs rankers vs irregulars in the anime, then they make it more confusing by constantly switching up the language they use to describe them and not clarifying anything. Irregulars come from outside the tower as a whole. They forced their way into the tower. Regulars are born inside of the tower and are chosen to have an opportunity to climb the tower. Rankers have already climbed the tower. They are free to go between floors as they please, with some exceptions. Also, the weakest of Rankers could kill the strongest of Regulars with ease it's not even almost a little bit close. Red haired guy was basically nerfing himself as much as he possibly could for the test and the rice ball guy is sadistic AF and wanted to give the princesses hope. 4. Lero Ro kind of explained the structure of the tower but I just want to reiterate. The tower is made up of multiple floors and each floor is made of 3 sections. An outer tower, middle tower, inner tower. The outer tower is where most of the people live and they are generally ignorant to the workings of the inner tower. The middle tower basically serves to connect the outer and inner towers. And the inner tower is where the tests take place and generally where the story takes place. This isn't exact but you can think of the inner tower sort of as a lifeline that connects the floors together. 5. Most of these characters are much much much much older than you think. 100's of years old in some cases. Time moves very differently in the tower. If you wanna have some fun you can go through the Wiki and check out their ages. 6. Bam (Baam in the webtoon) has 2 meanings in Korean, chestnut and night. In the anime everyone calls him adorable or good looking or something like that. But in the Webtoon this was in reference to his name meaning chestnut, he looked delicious, its kind of play on words. It also give a double meaning to Rachel when she says she's scared of the night. It could mean she's scared of the dark and therefore wants starlight to illuminate it, or, it could mean she's scared of Bam. 7. If anyone else has anything to add please do so, but please keep it specific to knowledge they would have at the end of the first season. I know I'm missing a lot, but I'm not trying to write a book over here.

So, funny story. When I first watched tower of god (and hadn’t read the webtoon then either) I for some reason thought the first season had only 12 episodes. Many animes do have 12 or 24 episodes. So I saw the previous episode and thought “wow, that’s quite a cliffhanger to end on”. Like months later I learned there was this episode 13 which…explains a bit more. 😂 Especially with Rachel. So yeah, the season did end with quite a cliffhanger, but not the one I thought at first 😅
There's a *floor* admin per floor (each w/ random looks). They set ground rules of tests (& give green/red light to *test* admin's schemes). Also, control all shinsu there. Irregulars are intruders, they ain't bound by an admin's "shackles". Admins r only active if smth big is going on their turf. Headon's prolly the most active, bc he's at the door.
So, little recap: Headon, Coffee Turtle and the Red Haired Navigator all seem to be in the same boat, or at the very least they all knew what was going on with Rachel and actively provided opportunities for her to end Bam. With that said, at the end the Navigator is spurring Bam on to train and climb, so what really was their goal? You'll need to keep watching and eventually you'll find out! What ended Ho was also not Khun's message but that of the red-haired Navigator (whose name is Hwaryun). As for your irregular question: Bam still is an irregular. He was the one who forced the door open, and Rachel kinda went through that door first. I believe we can think of both as irregulars, but Rachel didn't have the strength to open the door by herself. She shouldn't have ended up in the tower. They are also the two people who supposedly came from another world, which makes them irregular even for irregulars.
Rachel is fascinating. She gets the chance of a lifetime by being pulled into the tower accidentally with Bam but is so narcissistic she sees it as a slight it wasn’t her that was chosen. Then when given the opportunity to climb the tower by merely asking she refuses to do it because it’s ‘too hard’. And then when given ANOTHER opportunity she asks for a crutch. She wants to be innately special and popular without doing any work. She wants to be how she thinks Bam is.
@@barron30 First, it's an anime only dialogue scene. In the webtoon we don't hear the deal with Rachel. It's only implied that he wanted Rachel to betray Bam.
Ok, end of the season, two things missing: I mentioned earlier that there was a missing conversation earlier in the season, which was Bam promising Endorsi a date, so they're kind of an item in that they have a date pending; the second is from this section of the manhwa, Rachel says to Hwaryun that she's "scared of the night," alluding to Bam. Important takeaways... Other than maybe Headon, none of the key players appear in this season, with most of the story effectively being controlled from off-screen. Yu Hansung is clearly working for someone else and lied about serving Jahad, Hwaryun works for the same people (evident through their actions this season); Lo Po Bia Ren works for Jahad, the royal faction; Yuri gives Shibisu and friends the icon of a faction that she belongs to; and it's unknown if Headon is the head of a faction of just part of one, but the only time he has direct involvement is when he gives Bam the initial test. Pieces fall into place with so little. Headon and Yu Hansung could've used force to get Bam where they wanted, but all they had to do was speak; even the administrator was just a tool
Apparently in the Manwha Rachel struggled a lot less than she did in the anime, so I've heard (only started reading from where the anime ended, I'll need to also read the early part at some point)
God I love Rachel. Was a stroke of brilliance to make a background npc into an MC and pair her up with a typical chosen one MC. Rachel is a reflection of the greed of humans with their jealousy and envy of what others have. You see it all the time on social media with people hating on those more successful than them. But also you can sorta understand where she's coming from since bam really does seem to just have MC privileges with his hidden potential. Like people bitching about those who are born with rich parents.
So do I man! It annoys me so much seeing people trying to justify or to lighten the weight of her actions and kind of wait for a Rachel's redemption arc. If that ever happens it will be a big turn down for me. I mean, that character shouldn't be allowed to get a happy ending, she's way beyond that point.
There are 2 main things I was upset they changed or skipped in the anime adaption. These aren't SPOILERS technically as they would have happened at this point, but I'll put them further down just in case you dont want to know still. 1. In addition to Endorsi being jealous that Rachel is allowed to love, she actually begins to fall for Bam. Nothing more than the early stages of a crush, but they removed that entirely, which fails to fully display Endorsi's character as well as her growing relationship with Bam. 2. Bam is not determined to go on after Rachel pushes him. He is absolutely devistated, his will is completely broken, and he wants to give up. Hwaryun ends up convincing him to move on despite his feelings, and he reluctantly agrees as he doesn't know what else to do but climb the tower. I dont know why they decided to change his characterization in this scene. It was very weird.
It was pretty fun seeing you all react to this series! In my opinion, this adaptation didn't really hit the mark for me. There were a lot of details skipped, and some changes I didn't like. The biggest flaw for me was Bam's outlook at the end. In the source material he was so hurt and broken from the betrayal, he didn't want to climb the tower. In the adaptation, they made him hopeful and looking forward to climbing the tower. The change is bad because Bam never really cared about the tower at this point. His only reason for being there was to be with Rachel, so it makes more sense for him to not want to climb because he was betrayed by the person that was the reason for him to climb. Another thing that may have hurt the adaptation was that because a Japanese person was directing this adaptation of a Korean work, a lot of liberties have been taken to "Japanify" the series making it more digestible for the Japanese audience. I'll still watch second season, but idk if I will watch further seasons of the adaptation. It depends if they pull it off for me.
Regulars are choosen by Hadon (the weird rabbit dude) inside the tower, irregulars are choosen by the tower outside the tower, Bam is an irregular because the tower chose him. Rachel ended up in the tower by mistake because she was close phisically close to Bam in that moment, so techically, she's an irregular irregular Also Hadon (and so Rachel) clearly wanted to kill him, but the blonde dude and the girl with red hair just wanted to make everyone believe he was dead
I think if Headon truly wanted Bam dead, it would be done already. Even with Yuri's interference, Bam wouldn't even have made it out of the first floor. Idk if Headon wanted to push Bam, Rachel, or both of them onto a certain path though.
Rachel is a character that pretty much the entire fanbase hates. But much of the fansbase likes her as a character because she is written very well. To succussfully write a character that readers/viewers hate but is interesting is an achievement by the author.
I love this episode. Throughout this whole season we've been wondering what's up with Rachel? Why is she acting so cold towards Bam? Why does it seem like she's distancing herself but also somewhat cares? And then this episode put it all into place. Dislike Rachel for what she did. But I'm also interested in her story going forward. But more than that, I want to see Khun and Bam eventually reunite. Love their dynamic
Worst thing is that she didn't even hesitate because of empathy or any shit like that. It was because he was the only one that treated her as important as she wants to become. oh and what kuhn meant was that if she wasn't the first person he ever met and the only one he remembers ever thenshe wouldn't have meant half as much to Bam as she did now
This always reminds me of how much I loved my ex and how losing me literally meant nothing to her at all. I changed her contact info in my phone to "Rachel" as a constant reminder that she's a backstab waiting to happen all over again.
Theyre both irregulars, because they were both outside the tower. But in the first episode, the tower brought her in by mistake, because she was next to him? maybe. At least thats how I understood it.
spilers to early s2 ahead !! oh my god! season 1 to season 2 has time skip of Five years! did we all had to wait real 5 years for season 2? :((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((
"what they want with him?" you clearly missed how special irregular is... think of the greatest human being that lived in history and imagine we find he'll reincarnet to newborn baby... with the potential of the greatest minds, abuilities and fits... everyone will sell their left nut to have anything to do with the newborn messiah fate and success just imagine how in our world we would put all our problems and expectations in our new messiah to deal with them. thats why irregular so special
The time skip in the story between S1 and S2 is the literal time difference IRL till S2 is released. Just shows how they are trying to make this anime absolutely legit and true to the source, unlike all the other webtoon adaptations which just do 10 years time skip in story but s2 comes a year later IRL
That's just dumb lol, so for a 10 year time skip we'll have to wait 10 years in real life, for not even a peak tier animation lol, and let's be real the anime didn't do the manhwa justice on so many aspects, the music was fire tho.
Yeah I love Rachel as a character. Like obviously she's awful, but she's also so human. She's just a weak person both physically and mentally whose ambitions and ego don't reflect reality, like so many people in real life. And it's fun that like compared to a lot of anime villains she's one of the objectively least evil, but it feels so much worse because it's such a petty personal grudge.
Rachel did nothing wrong. It's sad, you can see the language Headon used to break her, then give her 1 door. She took the option, but never had any real intention to kill Bam she just wanted a chance to climb the tower. You can see how whenever she was ready to give up, Hwa Ryun or Hansung Yu helped reinforce the will over her. She was a pawn used for their purpose. And in the end, she is climbing the tower.
I understand your confusion on whether Bam is an irregular or not 😂 The anime made it a lot more confusing by using the word “chosen”, it makes way more sense in the Webtoon.
11:28 the OST and voice acting here! So chilling!
Rachel is really desperate to find those stars, whatever they now are (literal stars or something else)
But not desperate enough to face the White Steel Eel. Bam had more determination to reach his goal than her.
Longer hair on Bam...you just know he's now a badass. Love it.
Is long hair all it takes😅?

Some characters you love to hate. Other you understand but hate. Then there's Rachel...
Rachel isn't a Regular, because she wasn't selected and brought from the Outer Tower area to the Inner Tower.
But she also doesn't fit what little we know so far about Irregulars either. She's kind of an irregular among Irregulars ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Poor Rak, he's so upset he lost his Turtle 😢
Can't wait to see what S2 holds in store for us. It's going to be wild.
Bam is an irregular and he opened the door to the tower twice, the first time rachel was there so she went through it instead and then he opened it again
A month late since I'm not a member and someone already did a great explanation about the whole irregular thing, but a few things i wanna mention to make it easier to understand.
Regular : People who got chosen by Headon to enter the Tower
Irregular : Not chosen by Headon, but instead got chosen by the Tower itself
Rachel : Weird anomaly as she entered the tower purely by coincidence
So, little recap:
Headon, Coffee Turtle and the Red Haired Navigator all seem to be in the same boat, or at the very least they all knew what was going on with Rachel and actively provided opportunities for her to end Bam.
18:40 that page in sam notebook is hanging on with all its might 😂
Rachel is fascinating.
She’s also just self aware enough to know that she’s terrible. But not self aware enough to stop.
Sam saying “damn, read to filth” when Rachel was being verbally destroyed made me cackle. 😂
Love how Hadon never told Rachel to "Kill" Bam but to put an end to his story.
Literally said right before that line that “if you can bring his life to a close”. What’re you talking about
@@barron30 First, it's an anime only dialogue scene.
Bam and endorsi aren’t dating lol it’s definitely a one sided relationship but bam does care about her as any other of his friends.
Apparently in the Manwha Rachel struggled a lot less than she did in the anime, so I've heard (only started reading from where the anime ended, I'll need to also read the early part at some point)
You really should, my advice is watch the 1st episode again, then read the 1st 2 chapters just to see the difference.
What chapter to read after the anime?
@@zegion999 S1 of the anime is also S1 of the webtoon. So you can start at S2 episode 0 (issue #80 overall)
Congrats on finishing the prologue!
Loved your TOG reactions~!!
PAIN but (reader here) it’ll get so much better in season 2 ‼️
Well, I'm looking forward to S2 to see Rachel get what's coming to her
So do I man! It annoys me so much seeing people trying to justify or to lighten the weight of her actions and kind of wait for a Rachel's redemption arc. If that ever happens it will be a big turn down for me. I mean, that character shouldn't be allowed to get a happy ending, she's way beyond that point.
@@gabrielmenez It's all in the writing in terms of whether a villain is loved or not. Eren is a way worse monster and people still like him.
Rachel ended up in the tower by mistake because she was close phisically close to Bam in that moment, so techically, she's an irregular irregular
Also Hadon (and so Rachel) clearly wanted to kill him, but the blonde dude and the girl with red hair just wanted to make everyone believe he was dead
I think if Headon truly wanted Bam dead, it would be done already. Even with Yuri's interference, Bam wouldn't even have made it out of the first floor.
Idk if Headon wanted to push Bam, Rachel, or both of them onto a certain path though.
12:52 rak crying made me
Rachel is a character that pretty much the entire fanbase hates.
Yeeei, acaban de publicar un teaser
Worst thing is that she didn't even hesitate because of empathy or any shit like that. It was because he was the only one that treated her as important as she wants to become.
oh and what kuhn meant was that if she wasn't the first person he ever met and the only one he remembers ever thenshe wouldn't have meant half as much to Bam as she did now
“Next season” 🥲
In manhwa, Headon said to bring his "story" to a close, not life. To end his story.
Can’t wait for season 2!
Wish they showed how mad he was just like in the webtoon
This always reminds me of how much I loved my ex and how losing me literally meant nothing to her at all. I changed her contact info in my phone to "Rachel" as a constant reminder that she's a backstab waiting to happen all over again.
Theyre both irregulars, because they were both outside the tower. But in the first episode, the tower brought her in by mistake, because she was next to him? maybe. At least thats how I understood it.
I can't help but be reminded of that one special but toxic ex whenever I watch TOG and see Rachel.
Complex emotions.

Yes, Rachel is just my favourite character, I want to see so much more about her, but I'm confident we'll get it.
All the homies hate Rachel
Rachel did nothing wrong.
It's sad, you can see the language Headon used to break her, then give her 1 door.
She took the option, but never had any real intention to kill Bam she just wanted a chance to climb the tower.
You can see how whenever she was ready to give up, Hwa Ryun or Hansung Yu helped reinforce the will over her.
She was a pawn used for their purpose. And in the end, she is climbing the tower.
