The explanation on water control and values is so helpful!
"Your values need to speak to each other in a way that makes sense" - this is excellent advice for painting but also just for life
Gotta love when a painting tip turns into a life tip, right? Thanks for creating along with us!!❤️
I’m in my sixties, have never painted anything and I love your videos! I’m learning so much! You help me take
the nervousness out of trying something new! Thank you.
This makes us so, so happy to har. We love that we have the opportunity to create along with you Charlie!!
This helped me tremendously! I was told opposite and struggled forever.... well I mean, until now!

I have been to the beach in Milwaukee and collected glass. Lots of beautiful pieces.
Thank you so much for explaining the water to paint ratio and how much water you should have on your brush! I’ve painted a couple of your tutorials already, but since I’m totally new to this, the other projects I had so much trouble with that. I appreciate the way you explained it, so easy to understand!
We are so happy to hear that you found the tips and instruction in our Sea Glass tutorial to be so helpful. We love that you paint along with us and we look forward to many more painting sessions together.❤️
My husband is from Milwaukee, and I've been to Grant Park Beach several times. We've marveled at the rocks on the beach and I was just now like "Wait? That's sea glass?" He said when they were young hooligans partying on the beach they'd break bottles and throw them in Lake Michigan all the time. "What's the big deal? It's trash." 😂
Thanks Sarah. This is a tutorial I will do over and over again!
This makes us so, so happy to hear. We are thrilled that you enjoyed it so much. Is there a different shape you're going to try or color palette the next time around?
Perfect explanations...I am a newbie and it is wonderful to hear your expertise! You're very clear! Thanks so much. Wanda (Canada 🇨🇦)
Wanda, we're so glad you enjoyed this tutorial. We love that we have the chance to paint with you in Canada!

This is the video that turned on the light for me! I think I finally understand the water to paint ratio. Your explanation was spot on. And I love how my piece turned out because of it. Thank you so much!!!
Yayy!! This makes us so, so happy to hear. Thank you so much for taking the time to reach out with your incredibly kind comment. We so appreciate it and feel lucky we get to paint along with you.
Excellent information about water control and its effect on color value. It makes so much sense. Can't wait to do some experimenting and practicing! You have a real talent for describing and demonstrating what you mean.
Sea glass is an excellent representation of balance the way you were describing when thinking in terms of the elements of nature because the glass itself is created by fire/volcanism and then its texture and shapes are created by water/the sea...
Love this!!
This was such an informative lesson!
We hope you enjoyed following along with us!
I stumbled on to this tutorial and just about lost my mind! I’m an avid sea glass hunter and immediately sat down and follows along. Thanks so much for taking the time to explain everything!
Yayy!! This makes us so, so happy to hear that one of our projects was just the perfect one for you. We hope you enjoyed our Sea Glass tutorial. Thank you for creating with us.💚💙

Thank you so much, Sarah! Your watercolor projects heel my heart!
29:00 that balance is known as equanimity…😎 Sarah, thanks for explaining the water ratio idea in a way that made 100% sense. And kudos to Michael for obeying signs and respecting this balance. 🤗
I just painted this - and your instructions were spot on. You are amazing instructor. I loved the way it turned out. Again - thank you for sharing your knowledge.
We passed your message along to Sarah and we know it is absolutely going to make her day. Thank you for painting along with us.❤️
Well done, The flat round stones were stacked on the beach in Aruba. Our tour guide encouraged us to stack, prayerfully. Aruban wives stacked for their fishermen husbands to return safely.
Such a cool thing you got to see and participate in. Thanks for sharing this with us and creating alongside us.
Fun one! My daughter was born in Connecticut so I painted a map of the state in sea glass. I am working on one for my home state, Kansas, but sadly, there is no beach glass there. I'm thinking wheat and sunflowers somehow...
Nope! Not able to do the sunflowers and wheat yet! But there is a brick factory near where I grew up so I did that instead. And it plays on the Yellow Brick road for Kansas so that's fun.
Both of these paintings sound so, so cool. We LOVE how you made this project your own and personalized each painting. Thank you for creating along with us.
Thank you so much!! I especially enjoyed the section where you demonstrated the paint-to-water ratio! Love the sea glass. What about doing a beach scene with stones for a project??!
Hearing that you enjoyed this lesson makes us so, so happy. We will definitely pass your project idea along to our team. Thank you for creating with us.
Hello 👋 Ready to watch 🙋♀️💕
great information as always Sarah. Love this sea glass painting.
This looks so good. Really awesome work here.
Thank you!!
I totally squint my eyes. Actually now that I need to have readers I don’t even need to squint anymore. Lol
I think most artists know the squint trick..was told that years ago
I think those balance stones are called cairn stones.
Lots of seaglass where I live, east coast of Canada
We bet there is, that's amazing. Talk about the perfect reference for this project!
The best sea glass beaches are in Maine. I live on one. Sorry but it's private access. I find deep blue, red, amber, turquoise, pink, lavender, purple, lime to deep green, old coke bottle blue/green, milk glass white, brown, jade glass. Lavender comes from UV rays reacting with clear glass.
That is so, so cool. We just visualizing how gorgeous that must truly be!!
Where can you buy more paint if needed?

Is this the same technique as the waterdrops without the highlight?
The water drop technique is focused on a gradient, while the sea glass project focus is more on an even wash with a shadow along one side.
No entendí nada pero igual gracias :D
Hmmm are you live now ? 3-8-2022
No, we are not. Occasionally we will have live paint-alongs, but our tutorial videos are pre-recorded. Our weekly watercolor tutorial videos release each Wednesday.
Hmmm are you live ?
No, prerecorded
Our new watercolor videos release on Wednesdays around midnight central.
Sea glass isn't actually "nature" though ;)
sea glass gets worn down to sand by the waves lapping against it. so don't blame others for the ocean. also that glass got there because people used that beach as a dump ? ? no worries be happy.
