    Hi. I was thinking of making one myself as I need a longer one than the one I bought for another project. And you just save me with your video. I won't have to spend a lot of money this time. Thank a lot.

    Excellent demonstration! Could not have explained a 'how to DYI ' any better than you did! Thank you for your time.

    OMG Thank you!! I have been looking for an easy way to make a huge scroll frame myself for a SSMC HAED. Very helpful. I can do this.

    Thank you so much! I'm going to attempt my first poster-sized piece and pre-made frames are just a bit much for me now. This really helps. BTW, I love how you stress eye safety.

    Fantastic demo... thank you!! These are the methods I settled on recently too, both adapting the Edmunds frame from Michaels with longer dowels, and making a complete frame from scratch. However, I really wasn't sure how to put in the hanger bolts - other videos I watched made it look much harder. I also really liked your tip for bracing the dowel against the wall. I might even brace it into a corner so it doesn't shift sideways. I purchased 1" dowels for this, so hopefully I won't have problems with splitting.

      Let me know how yours comes out :) The corner sounds like a good idea.

    I actually did the same thing I have that same Edmunds and when I started a big project I just bought the dowels to measurements and it cost me less than the frame.

    Perfect tutorial , thanks . My wife needs one , so I'll be making one . Do you need to use dowel rods , would squared wood be practical ?

      We haven't tried it with squared wood. It should work. If you use squared wood, please tell us how it went

    thx for the tutorial...how do you attach your material to it?

    • @KarefreeKrafting
      @KarefreeKrafting  3 роки тому +2

      My favorite is blue painter's tape. But you can also use the sticky velcro. I have also stapled a strip of scrap fabric to the rods and basted the project to it

      I’m super stoked that you shred this; I made my extra large scroll today; I already had the side pieces from my original scroll that is too small for the piece I’m working on; I bought the dowels and hardware at Lowe’s (they even cut the dowels for me; I came home and drilled the holes and used the blue painters tape like you suggested to attach my piece to the dowel and I’m all set! Thank you so much for sharing this!

      @@KarefreeKrafting I tried the blue painters tape but it seems to always come off of the material and the dowel at the bottom of my project as I’m getting close to finishing and not as much material left…so today I am trying something different…I bought a piece of Aida and cut it the length of both dowels around 4” wide. I used the blue painters tape AND wood glue and glued the Aida to the dowel using the painters tape to hold it in place. Once fully dry I’ll be able to baste stitch my linen to the Aida to hold it on the dowel and I think that will hold it in place. Fingers crossed this works!

    What length hanger bolts did you use? I know you said 1/4 for the size, but didn’t hear you say the length.

    What kind of stand can you use with the huge one?

    • @KarefreeKrafting

      Right now we just lay the frame across 2 saw horses. An additional board or a pair of socks under the top bar can give a bit of tilt if you don't like working flat. If you watch to the end of krafting with a cuppa #6, we show the set up in a couple different ways. We are also developing a couple frame ideas so watch this space!

      I have gotten them at Lowes, Ace True Value and at Home Depot. Most Hardware stores carry them. If you are outside the US, you could try Amazon. Hope this helps!
