My husband works nights and he’s having trouble sleeping in the day time. I’m going to try and do this while he’s at work tonight. Thanks ☺️
As someone who has worked nights before, your husband is tough. Night jobs absolutely suck
i work nights also but i realised blacking out the room isn't practical when living with someone. so i switched to a sleep mask it took a few nights to get used to but its worth it now i can sleep and my girlfriend can use the room when she needs to
Thanks bro I work night shift and this absolutely worked 😂👍
I work nights and I start sleeping in my closet because of the sunlight. Now I’m definitely going to try this. Thanks.
As a light sensitive individual with autism spectrum disorder, I hearby nominate this video for the Nobel Peace Prize 🏆
So, I did this and it works fine. Except when it comes time to removing it after being on a month, it leaves behind a stain on the windows, that is VERY hard to get off. The aluminium reacts with the sunlight so I just found out today, and leaves a stained pattern. Googling how to get rid of it came up with very little you can do about it. In fact, I can even see the stain on his windows, which he did not mention for some bizarre reason, and I WISH I had known this beforehand. This may be fine if this is your window in your home, but if you are renting, beware.
@@jesperlind1577 Yes, I used a kitchen sponge with an abrasive side, and rubbed very hard against the marks until I saw them smudge. Then I got a paper towel and windex to remove the smudge. It takes time, but it came off. Depending on the size of the window (mine was huge) you may have sore arms the next day. My marks had been on a month. Not sure about others who've had theirs on for longer though.
Such a life saving comment, I literally was gonna try this tomorrow. I think it's because the presence of water, so the solution is to use some velcro stripes.
Woooow. 😮Thanks for the warning. While it's "free" it's also extremely ugly.😢 I've got lots of expensive blackout curtains I'm deciding between already.
I worked nights for years and this is exactly what I did...don't think I would have lasted long without it.
Straight to the point, smart and so much helpful! Thanks a ton, dude.
Thank you so much. I'm about to start night shifts at a hospital and this is exactly what I needed. You've earned yourself a sub.
Nice, simple, straight to the point and no mucking about.
Umbloodybelievable,,!! Ive been sticky tapeing black liner bags to the windows in my bedroom for years and its unsightly but its dark, this is a pro job, looks great , easy, thanks mate, your a ledgend😉
simple, straight forward and helpful. perfect video mate. cheers
We’re traveling with a baby in December, and I’ve been looking at making my own blackout shade, because the kind you can buy are so dang expensive. I think I’ll give this a try instead! Thanks for sharing!
Dude! I cannot thank you enough, I just finished doing this to my bedroom windows and it is now pitch black without the curtains closed. Thank you so much, also I decided to use windex instead of water because I thought it would reduce the chance of mould growing.
@@alanwilson4208 wonderful! thanks for the tipp then, I'll be doing this too!
@@traviscogdill2661 As far as I can tell, indefinitely. Although it lossens if you blow enough wind at it (via letting it be outside through opening the window it sticks on) or leave some parts of it not sticking to the glass/foil.
I had the most tedious set up for blocking my blinds, thanks mate!
That's brilliant!! Thank you for sharing!
Wow!! Thank you for this!! What an awesome idea
Mate, you made my day, night sun is killing me in Norway, will try this tomorrow, thank you so much
Thats so great ill just do this every night before i go to sleep :)
Bro, this is genius. I need my workshop dark for short periods to use a projector. Thanks so much.
You are now a legend in my house! When I grow up I wanna be like you ❤
Oh my god man you're a life saver why didn't I think of this. My hero
Lord Willing, I’m going to Dollar Tree and buying all the Aluminum Foil. Plus, duct tape. I plan on leaving mine up for a while! 😉
Wow! Surprising and excellent solution! Thank you!
I lived a full year with light in my room after my blinds broke you are a life saver no more waiting till dark for my room to be nice and dark 😭😭😭
I must admit, this is brilliant mate!
Thank you. We are only getting a few hours without sunlight at the minute and I can't sleep well. I will definitely try this!
i thank you for the great easy method, since autism makes my senses super hyped, an indoor cat who was struggling to stay cool during our 2nd heatwave also thanks you, sadly the ignorant neighbours who called the police and reported me to the housing department doesn't lol. Had to buy a 50 dollar fan instead but sadly not as good. 10 days of a pitch dark living room, great fun, cool temp, theatre vibes when watching movies, and cats got to run around again during day time! Always do whats best for self and family, leaving other peoples opinions at the bottom of the list.
Dude this is brilliant, this works so well
That surprisingly worked mate !!! Thanksss. Cheers 🍻
This is a great idea, thanks for sharing it. So easy and simple to get the room darker.
@@vanessacontreras5575Some people sleep during the daytime genius.
OMG, i tried doing this technique and it really worked! Now I can now have my life back. ❤️❤️❤️ It is indeed a life saver. Thanks a lot!
Hi there!! I have a question: how long the aluminum stays stick to the window, if water dries out?? .... Cheers from Canada 😊
THE MOST INFORMATIVE VID LIKE I JUST WROTE KEYWORDS AND HAVE MANY CONDITIONS IN MIND AND IT WILL TAKE MUCH SEARCHING BUUUUUT THIS 1st SHOWED VID WAS ON POINT IT JUST SHOWED WHAT I EXACTLY NEEDED AND COULDN'T PUT INTO WORDS
THAAANK YOU SO MUCH!
I worked nights for 12 yrs straight. This does work. It’s especially good if you rent, or do not want to invest in expensive blockout shades and curtains.
Oh my god, I can’t thank u enough for this video 🙏🙏🙏
Loving it!!!!
This is frikin genius - thank you!!!
Mannnnnn!!! You’re a genius!!!
Excellent tip there mate . Thanks for that.
Bro this is genius! I’m doing it immediately 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Brilliant Idea
All the night shifters are loving you right now mate!
great job thanks for sharing!!
Excellent, great kaizen
Whoa! It's that simple!!!??? This is in fact something I can even do if I'm over at another person's place and cannot sleep well. I need total darkness and silence and this is definitely a life changer
Scare off the neighbours noisey kids AND keep the light out! It's a win win. Seriously though this is the most affordable, non damaging and effective method I've ever seen. If the missus would go for this I'd do it in a flash.
Superb video. Gonna try this. Fed up with the light waking me early 👍👍
Brilliant idea 💡
OMG. This is brilliant
Omg this guy is a legend haha thank you 😉
The heat is too much right now.
Go Aussie
brilliant, thanks for making this video
i’m going to try this tomorrow as this seems to be a very good solution, i’ll update you guys. UPDATE: it worked really well! i have blinds not curtains but it still ended up working really well!
Inwas thinking can't inuse foil to reflect and bam there you go!!! Amazing!!
My cannabis and I would like to thank you for your expertise 👏
I did this year's ago when I first moved into a new apartment and my furniture was not shipped yet, and I was sleeping in the living room with a large glass balcony slider doors. A few days later had the super demand to bring it down becaus it looked very hideous lol but it was very dark
👀Ah Mah Gah! Gonna do this Right NOW! Thank You Thank You Thank You for this Uber Simple but Brilliant idea..can't believe i never thought of it..must be cos it's too easy. BLESS YOU, man
Thanks for your intelligent idea❤
You absolute hero!!!!!
This is genius!
Yo thanks mate, I’m getting one of those realistic lookin lightsabers for Christmas, and me room ain’t that dark in the day even with the blinds down, so this should help a lot!
Right on bud, cheers!
I just love you this simple and inexpensive ideal 🥰. I have plenty foil and Windex. I'm gonna do this tonight😂. Stay blessed and safe 💞.
Nice little hack, cheers mate!
Lmao. So I live in an HOA community and my room is on the second floor of my house with 3 windows and it always gets molested by the sun for 8-9 hours of the day until the sun starts to set and I tried doing this only to receive a letter from my HOA community stating that “it’s probably just an oversight , but it has come to our attention that one or more cosmetic finishes to your home are in violation of our policy. Please correct the violation to avoid having to pay any future fees.” I live in an otherwise good looking neighborhood and it’s HOA so as you know they’re really strict about the way their community looks. They basically told me my aluminum foil made the neighborhood looked ghetto and to take that shit down before I get some fuckin fees to pay for it. Meanwhile all of my neighbors kids get to leave their scooters, bikes and skateboards littered across the street overnight with no one telling them Jack
See this why I left HOA areas bc of THIS. Tell me why my sister got fined bc of the fucking trashcan being out in the garage??? SMH.
Costs more. Harder to get the tinted covering to go on nicely without someone helping.
This is amazing thank you 👊🏻👊🏻👊🏻
Amazing. You just did it
Thank you so much man!
Pro tip! I am trying this!
Love it
ThNk you!!!! my three year old daughter has been waking up way too early because of the sun. Just wanted to let you know that work out perfectly!
thx, for someone who despises the sun, this really saves the day.
I got an extreme light sensitivity issue and I'm AUDHD! I also happen to have foil around, this is great. Tyy!!
I'm an animator and I've been having trouble meeting deadlines because I only animate at night, to reduce natural light. Now I can not waste my day dreaming about what I could be doing and actually get on with it!
Brilliant! Thank you
I must try. I just bought curtains and didn't realize they're not the ones I needed until AFTER I put them up 🤦🏼♀️
Good video thanks, I did that method years ago but didn't apply water, so thanks for the tip
I used this with my first apartment, it kept it cooler too
I can’t wait to try this
Absolute legend
Great! It worked bro!
Great video, as a night shifter I’ll definitely be trying this!
Yes it worked but I did also put duct tape around the border of it to keep it from moving. It hasn’t messed up yet, I love it
Can this work around the glass on a bumpy wall texture to illuminate the light coming in from the top and the sides ?
Easy and nice
Brilliant
This is insane how easy, simple, and cheap (basically free)... Also there isn't any sticky or difficult adhesive
Legend, thanks!!
Hey, update to my last comment saying thanks. Just an FYI for people, especially in cold areas. Yesterday I did the foil trick, an hour later I heard a smash. It seems the sun hitting the foil cause a heat reaction and cracked the window. I’m in Alberta Canada in -20c so most won’t have this issue.
Ok not to stereotype but only a Canadian would be nice enough to be somewhat okay with a cracked window and still give thanks... Dang I wish I was Canadian
This may be a dumb question but can this grow mold?
awesome
I always wanted to tin foil every single window in my entire house. Wonder what the neighbors would think
Man come on this man deserves a trophy he didn’t waste my time he got right into it
HAHAHAHAHHAAH ikr lmao
facts
That's what am saying
Yes, it was to the point! Thumbs up for sure 👍
