      Gel assay is a general name....it doesn't include the immunodiffusion phenomenon

      The gelling ability of agarose is somewhat affected by the presence of anions. NaCl has a weak stabilizing effect, whereas NaBr, NaNO 3 , NaSCN and Na 2 SO 4 destabilize the agarose gel and facilitate syneresis
