The great Leon Bibb. So cool to find this clip --- I used to watch Hootenanny in the '60's but I don't recall ever seeing this one. After seeing him on a different show (he also appeared on The Ed Sullivan Show) I found a couple of his albums at my public library in Tacoma, and gained a deep appreciation for his talent. He ended up living in Vancouver, BC from the 1970's on, until his death in 2015. Sometimes confused with the Cleveland news anchor Leon Bibb.
Written by San Francisco Bay area songwriter Malvina Reynolds, a retired schoolteacher who wrote many wonderful songs, including "Turn Around," recorded by Harry Belafonte, the Kingston Trio, and many others; also "Morningtown Ride," recorded by The Seekers and many others.
Another great find!
Thank you sir and thank you for watching.

That guy was certainly talented. He had a great personality too.
And there we are 60 years later in more boxes than ever .... sometimes real but a lot of imaginary ones
This was a prophesy song for sure!
Beautiful song!
This was a popular folk song that I remember well, but not certain who sang it.
Pete Seeger also sung this.
