    I have owned this bag in the blue stitching for two months now and I love it! I haven't carried it on the course yet (cart it) but I previously owned a V2 that I carried all the time. I am glad you mentioned the contour that the back of this bag allows, as it makes the bag fit so well that it almost seems attached to your body. Even though the bag weighed more than a standard bag, it almost felt like it weighed less due to the better fitment to my back. Until I owned the V2, I never realized how much more energy you gain having a mobile chair to sit on during those long rounds. On a side note this bags with a chair like this one are also perfect for COVID friendly rounds as it gives you a chair to sit on away from the benches or everyone else.

    Awesome review(s) Doth Savek. I just finished customizing a seat bag and your info has been invaluable in my process. So thank you for that!
    I ran into a similar problem with finger pinch in the main disc compartment due to the rigid box frame. I solved it by using velcro to secure small thin blocks of memory foam on both sides of the interior. The foam blocks act like your towel buffer except you can do it to both sides for symmetry and the velcro enables you to revert back to stock configuration. Just wanted to relay that to you in hopes that it might be helpful to you or your viewers who might want a quick cheap mod. Honestly Joe should just glue and wrap nylon wrapped foam to the bottom part of the interior aluminum legs at his production facility thus creating needed soft and yielding interior walls . Awesome Bag!
    Thanks again dude for the thoughtful reviews, your a credit to the DG community.

    Hey Doth, Ive watched a lot of your reviews and they are really well done! I bought my octothorpe after having it in and out of the cart many times on the Pound website, once I watched your review on it I finally pulled the trigger on the purchase and I love the bag. One thing that you brought up in this video is the hockey puck and I gotta one up you man, A 30 foot fatmax tape measure or any wide blade tape measure also fits really well in the bottom of a drink holder pocket to make the can protrude a bit. beauty of the tape measure is that you can poke discs out of trees with it instead of wearing your arm out throwing stuff at the stranded disc. during tournaments you can accurately determine if you've beat a ctp or if for some reason theres an argument about inside or outside the circle you can settle that quickly as well.

    • @curtisbrumwell84
      @curtisbrumwell84 3 роки тому +1

      One point I didn’t emphasize about the tape measure is that standout is important for disc retrieval, the better the standout the easier it is to thread the blade of the tape up through the limbs of the tree and get to the maximum reach of the tape. Also a stiff blade tape will have more “poking power” than a flimsy one 😉

      @@DothSavek once you actually have to use it to get a disc out of a tree you’ll be like dang that actually works really well! On a side note I’m recently unemployed and thinking about making disc golf review videos on the gear I have. One of those pieces is a pretty accessory loaded up zuca all terrain cart. It would be awesome to do a side by side with the ridge roller R3 loaded up with the accessories that they offer. Unfortunately I don’t think there’s any chance of me recovering the cost of that by posting a couple videos. However, if Joe is willing to ship one to me in Canada to test out up here on the wooded courses I’m thinking that maybe I could become a distributor for them here and expand his market...

      @@curtisbrumwell84 yea that's a tough one. About the best you could expect would be to get ~ $7usd per 1000 views. So then to recoup $700usd on a cart review you need 70,000 views on that video. Trying to make money as a small time youtuber can be pretty tough.

    Doth! Great review buddy! I’m stoked to see you finally got a Ridge! I’ve been loving mine and it’s awesome to see a glowing review. I knew once you carried the bag/worked with Joe you’d be a fan of the company. I think the free bag is well deserved considering the exposure they’ll get. Anyway, you really hit all the points here. I too ripped the thing apart to see all the internals and whatnot. It’s pretty crazy what they’ve achieved with this bag. It’s so well thought out. I really like how you highlighted the fact that it’s heavy but also very comfortable. I think that’s kinda the main take away with this bag. I was skeptical at first but man this thing carries like a dream, and it’s really only very heavy at the beginning of rounds when my nalgenes are topped off. I’d like to mention that with the sternum straps, I don’t use them at all and didn’t wanted to cut them off, so I just turned the 180 degrees so that they project outwards, and now they’re completely out of the way but still there in case I play a gnarly course. Also, you didn’t touch on the drink holders. I wish they would have been integrated more into the bag because they do slouch and hit the ground, but it’s not really an issue other than getting a little dirt under there. That’s really all there is to say, you crushed it man, and again I’m glad you and Joe connected, because he’s awesome and the best costumer service dude around. Sorry for the long winded comment. Have a good one man and I look forward to your future vids!

    Always great info Doth!
    I recently had to move on from my BP-2 V1 (Awesome little bag for the money) because I needed a ton more storage for towels and extra shirts (I'm a sweaty son of a gun). I tried the Ranger but was disappointed that it held less than the BP2 (i.e. I couldn't transfer my BP2 contents to the Ranger) and had to return it. Based on your info I went with the BP1-V2 and love it.
    Based on my experience I might suggest part of your analysis be to have a Control Bag that always has the exact same contents, and then transfer everything into the bag being tested to demonstrate storage comparisons.
    Thanks for the great work Doth! Even though I just got a new bag I still watch all you reviews.

    I'd love to see a follow-up to this after you've used it for a while. I saw that the Prodigy bag didn't hold up well over time, would love to see this one hold up well. This looks like a great fit between Grip & Pound. Having an option for use with a cart is interesting as it gives a built-in option to move in that direction and it's already made for it. Really enjoy these detailed reviews because you go into why you do/don't like certain things. That's really helpful as it puts me into a frame of mind to consider if that is or is not important to me as well. Will keep my fingers crossed for you that other manufacturers send you stuff to review since you do such a great job.

      @@DothSavek one if you have the frame out, you can stretch the legs a bit wider to give you just a bit more room. Maybe enough to free up that finger pinching when stacked full. Also upper right pocket where the mini pocket is. Just to the outside of the sewn pinch points, you can perfectly fit a pencil there. Compared to V1 the front pocket on V3 is slightly lower to more easily remove and pit in discs. Also different fron V1, the added stiffener in the middle pocket of the V3 was added.. last difference is he flip floped the direction of how the middle pocket opens. I have other suggestions if you get the cart. Best cart out on the market, my opinion. If I think of more I can update

  • @dpierce206
    @dpierce206 4 роки тому +1

    Yeah Bro. I totally agree with your statement that they need to be better known, awesome job. I’ve only had mine for about 4 rounds or so, 1st tournament test coming this weekend but I love it and know I made the right call. I’m carting mine so the weight isn’t an issue. When I first got it and put it on, I was amazed at how comfortable it was and it’s because of the frame layout as you mentioned, nice work pointing that out. I got it just so I didn’t have to deal with a stool...mostly. My Fossa Tana Pro has been a ripped bag, that has been sooo good, even good on a cart but doesn’t have a built in stool. The pencil etc slots need to be addressed for all bags...why? Why even bother having a pencil slot? Around here it seems most tournaments are going to “live” scoring or using UDisc or something else on a phone. I feel like the slots could be eliminated. Your can always put a small pencil in some pocket if you had to. I’d like to see a zippered (or Velcro but I hate Velcro) inside pocket thats kinda stealthy for things you might want hidden, or hard to find unless you know it’s there, nahm-sang? Also, I put my rain fly without the pouch, kinda flat and spread out in the underside zippered access area, like my Fossa Tana Pro does; it works out pretty good. Just wanted to put my 2 cents in. Love your vids Doth, if thats your real name haha.

    • @DothSavek
      @DothSavek  4 роки тому +1

      My real name is Kevin Todd. Doth Savek is an anagram. That's an interesting idea with the rain fly in the bottom. Why not have a pencil pocket? It's such an easy thing to have a spot for a pencil and for a sharpie. Sure scores may be going more and more online, but its still a rule to have your discs marked and some one is always asking for a marker. I like perfect little homes for items to help in organization and having a perfect home for a pencil and sharpie is the standard for disc golf bags and I don't see that ever changing.

    • @dpierce206
      @dpierce206 4 роки тому +1

      @@DothSavek Kevin, I have two sharpies in one of the slots and you’re right that a slot for them is nice. Full length pencils could be used as well instead of putting in a cardboard spacer and using the short ones? And yes, all dg bags have pencil slots, but my guess is soon they may not. I keep a knife in one of the lower outside pockets but I might widen one of the narrower “pencil” slots so it can put it in there. Another reason I really like this bag is those large full length side pockets. So much room for clothes and snacks etc. looking forward to more of your awesome reviews!

      @@DothSavek It's interesting they aren't more known considering Joe Robinson created the original Zuca carts that are now sold by zuca and DD. He literally modded zuca luggage and it got so popular that (not sure what kind of deal it was) Zuca began manufacturing it themselves. I was the first in the state (NY) to get one and Joe was a pleasure to deal with. I can tell you this guy is very into innovating solutions for different situations and it shows with his continuing improvements from generation to generation of each product. He even designed and shipped me a sled attachment for using that first cart in the snow. It worked pretty well. Wish I could find the picture of that but he put a lot of thought into it. Might have even came up with a version 2 of that which was much more refined if I'm not mistaken. Great reviews Kevin.

      Well I don't have one of those carts to check fit so I cant answer all that well. The ones you mention sound good. If the bag is gonna live in a cart then durability concerns sort of go away. • @DothSavek
      @DothSavek  3 роки тому +1

      Rovic is a little different because bags hang from it and sag. Regardless when I use the Rovic I want a bag with maximum capacity for both discs and other gear. @@DothSavek the EZ cart is open design but raised up a bit. It's also large enough to accomodate any of the bags. Because it is raised it would lose ability to sit on with the Ridge (to my knowledge) as it would be too tall. I noticed you didn't include the commander. Is it because of lack of extra storage? Of the bags listed, which are easiest to take the discs in and out of from the main compartment? To me that's probably one of the most important aspects as it is the primary function of the bag. On my DD Trooper I find the zippers on the putter pouch and opening size on main compartment hinder this action.

    Hey thank you for the super great review of this, and other bags. I was lucky enough to have somebody ask me for my Christmas wish list I'm thinking about this for it. A quick question or two for you though. First I was a long time tournament player and was using a REvolution Carolina with quad straps along with a folding U shaped camp stool to set it on. This was really just to give me quicker access into the top of the bag. But of course if I was into some slow play I would sit down as well. I'm now getting back into the sport after a long time out. I'm probably going to be running somewhere around 16 to 18 discs. I love all the versatility of this bag but is it overkill for me? And will I have about the same ease of access that I did with the previous system do you think? I certainly like the sitting option and losing the stool. My biggest question is that I'm not planning on getting a cart. Does this thing work comfortably on your back or ultimately do you really want to put it on a cart? Thanks!!!!

    • @DothSavek
      @DothSavek  3 роки тому +1

      Its very comfortable. As far as overkill it sort of depends. It carries just fine when lightly loaded, but the overall weight of the bag is greater than what you coyld be getting away with. If the weight is not much of a concern then I think this is the best bag regarding your other criteria.

      @@DothSavek Very good. I just got on the scale with my Carolina plus the stool and it's essentially coming in around a little over 6 lb unloaded, so I'm not really taking on more weight when the RR. Yes, there might be something that's more appropriate for somebody handling 18 discs, but I really like the organizational aspect of this....say, keeping your primary drivers for example in the middle section. Plus I won't have to screw around with handling that stool anymore.

    I know this is an older video, so hopefully you'll see this, but I'm having a majorly difficult time finding a good breakdown of the differences between the V5's 1000D Polyester Vs. 1000D Cordura. That's going to be my decision maker between this, the squatch, and the Pound. I'd love some insight.

    Hey Doth I know this video is old but I'm in the market to buy the new version of this bag. I currently have the upper park rebel and its not as comfy after 4 years of abuse. Do you think this would be a bad bag to rock as a single option for someone? The weight I don't think I'll mind since I'm a fit guy. But I like the idea of having a seat. I was originally sold on the Gorilla boy bag until I saw this review and saw this bag is essentially the well thought out and made version of the Simian. Thanks for your insight and have a good one!

      Go for it, only reason I don't carry this bag more is because of its weight, I really love it other than that.

    I can't find one of these online anywhere!!!! I am playing the AM tournament at Maple hill in April and really REALLY want one of these!! Any tips on where else to look other than direct for Ridge Roller?

      Last I heard Brad Zuraski had a couple in his shop. Brad is the reason there is a Wings logo on the bag. He is closely associated with Ridge Roller. I recommend you check out the Ridge Roller Cartel Facebook group and ask there. You can probably msg Brad directly on FB and ask if he has one in his shop that he would ship out for you.

    Trying to find this bag but appears to be maybe sold out? Only 1 I can find is the Ricky Wysocki rapture one. I love Ricky but the bags just too showy for me. I want all the luxury without the bling. Where can I buy a black with red stitching?

    • @DothSavek
      @DothSavek  3 роки тому

      Looks like they have taken them off the ridge roller website. They may have sold out of that batch of bags. I know some bags are sold by Wingz disc golf(not online). I would check out the ridge roller cartel Facebook page and msg Joe. He may have some around that he can still sell or hook you up with the guy from Wingz to get on from him. If they really are all out then Joe can also give you some sorr of eta on the next batch.

    11:17 brilliant design. Can you fit a Zephyr in the upper pocket? If one can fit up there, even if only by itself, that'd be great.

    Great Review, been looking forward to this one =D
    A ) Which one was more comfortable to carry ? Ridge v3 or Grip ax 4?
    B ) Ridge v3; could you store a bike shoe or a (no ancle hike shoe) in each of the side pockets?

    Does anyone know if you can ez cart this bag? Would love to sit on this with the ez cart

    • @DothSavek
      @DothSavek  3 роки тому

      Its not a great fit on the EZ cart. Main issue is 4 feet on the Ridge don't align with the cart support pole.
      In order to sit on the bag you want all 4 feet firmly sitting on a panel.
      The EZ cart has too much airspace and the feet end up hanging in free space and then if you try and sit on the bag it wants to tip a lot and it puts stress on the bag that its not designed for.
      The Ridge bag works best on a a cart with a solid plate that the bag can fit on. The Ridge Roller of course is good, the MVP Rover is another option.
      You could mod an EZ cart and mount a piece of wood or something that would be flat and then put the Ridge bag on. The bag already sits really high up and a board would make it even higher. I'm 6ft tall and sort of had to get on my tip toes to get my butt up onto the bag when its on an EZ cart.

      @@DothSavek what do you think is the best bag that you have reviewed for the ez cart.

    • @DothSavek
      @DothSavek  3 роки тому +1

      @@Rowboats_Adventure I've not used the EZ cart yet, just happen to have one here so I test fitted the Ridge when you asked about it.
      The Ridge is one of the best cart bags out there and I think it would be great on an EZ with fenders, I just wouldn't sit on it.
      If you like more discs stored up high then/ easy disc access then the Ridge, Rebel, and Skinny 2 are good. If you just want max size then Octohaul, BP1, and Legend are good options.
