Day 5 post procedure. I spent the night in the hospital getting the bladder wash done. I was given pain meds in recovery. After that mostly Tylenol, and Robaxin. I had foley removed yesterday with minimal discomfort. It was in for 4 days. I have followed your advice in every respect. Definitely get the Depends. After foley removal you will leak and need a bed pad, or a diaper or both. The urinary relief pills are a definite plus as well. I've used those before for bladder issues. Oddly enough I had no pain on first urination, but it has become more painful in the last 12 hours. Thanks so much for posting this video, it's a great reference for those of us either contemplating the procedure or once it's done. For me so far so good, and am looking forward to watching your 6-month video this weekend. I have not had a flow like this in 20 years. Take care!
Hey glad it's going well and take it easy....Really easy to start feeling better than over due it! I did....
Today is day 8 post-TURP for me. The surgery took about an hour. General anesthesia. 22 French Foley after surgery and the surgeon sent me home after post-op recovery and awake. That was less than an hour after the procedure. I had the large Bard bag (with the clothes hanger), so I hand carried it with me in the wheel chair when the nurse pushed me to my (driver’s) car. I had a 5-day course of antibiotics and oxycodone (5-325) for pain. I only took the pain meds the first day at home post-op). Surgery was on Tuesday and on Friday (3 days later) the Foley was removed. At that appointment, they nurse did the “fill and drain” check with a sonogram. 500ml in -> remove Foley -> pee (which was quite messy, ie - a shower instead of a stream) -> sonogram. With 500ml in, only about 18ml remained after draining, and the nurse said that was a success. Went home without a catheter to huge relief because prior to the TURP I had a Foley for a month. I too had blood clots that drained when I had the Foley post-surgery, but by drinking a lot of water, almost all of the blood had been discharged by the time the Foley was removed.
Now, a week later it is so much better. I once again have the ability to fully drain the bladder. Of course there is still a little tenderness in my “head” when I pee, but that is somewhat relieved by the “power” in my stream. Relief is great. So, gentlemen, do not fear the surgery. It is inconvenient and painful in the shortterm, but oh so beneficial in the long run.
Thank for the comments Chris! Glad it went well for you and hope for a continued recovery Please be sure to subscribe! Besides helping the channel out I will be posting a 6 month update in about 2 weeks or so.....
1st thanks for the video I'm getting ready to have it done 1st of Nov. And kind of scared , just wondering how tour doing all these months later and if you had any problems , thanks
Thanks for the information. I am 3 days post-surgery. The relief is amazing. I would suggest to others to wait until your procedure before buying the shopping list. My foley was removed the next morning after surgery. From your list the only thing I needed was the absorbent underwear. The pain was very tolerable, no need to tape the foley line to my leg, etc. My Dr gave me a prescription antibiotic, so no need for the urinary tract meds. Not a big expenditure, but just no need to spend and not use. Good luck to all going into this procedure.
Congrats!
Had the TURP procedure last Wednesday. Spinal anesthetic and sedation prior to the surgery. My urologist said the operation itself lasted about half an hour (not including prep time). Stayed an extra day in the hospital as the nurses reduced the flow of the Continuous Bladder Irrigation system bit early, so the urologist suggested I stay an extra day since he could still see some clots in the tubes.. Discharged on Friday morning when able to pee. Went home without a catheter, zero pain and no pain medication required. Already been on my daily walks which is recommended; early days yet but promising and glad to be off the pills. Thanks for the video information.
Sounds pretty good so far!
Just had my TURP done on jan 2,24. Sir, I must thank you for this extremely helpful video. I understand it's meant to compliment doctor's advice and not replacement. I'm from Canada and the procedure was covered by national free plan. It's great btw, but the Healthcare system is overloaded. I had to wait 5 months for the appointment while wearing several catheters. I watched this before surgery and again today ( day 13). It's comforting to know that these occasional watch battery size pcs of blood/scabs is natural. The urologist office is not open on weekends. It is discouraging to me to see these pcs and once or twice larger *clumps* pass through. I'm trying to keep my water intake almost ridiculously high. As you said, it's so important. I do treat myself to some watered down coffee, lol. Anyways thanks for all your helpful advice. BTW I purchased a 20 dollar foam neck brace to use as a donut seat to take pressure off of the area down there when sitting. Really helped on my car journey home from hospital with catheter. Thanks again, man and take care!
Just found this video, thanks so much. I am having Turp done on 7th August. I feel a bit more prepared now and ready for it. Looking forward to that feeling of release when I pee, it’s been a while.
Oh you will love it! Good luck and get your stuff! Shopping list with links are in the description of this vid.
Hello, I don't know how to thank you for this advice from your post-surgery. I am 56 years old and in the last 3 years I have problems with my enlarged prostate and as a result of that I am having urinary tract infections very often. My Doctor (Urologist) told me from the beginning that I would need surgery sooner or later. The truth is that I was leaving it as the last option but I'm tired of so much antibiotic for UTIs, the next appointment I have with him I'm going to tell him that I'm ready for surgery, I put myself in God's hands, I have faith that everything will be fine. Thank you very much for sharing your experience, I wish you the best in your recovery.
You're welcome! I hesitated before doing this video because it is different than my other content but comments like yours validate my decision! You can thank me by using the links above (in the description) to purchase off Amazon. I get a small commission to support the work I do but it doesn't cost you anymore. Good luck and let us know how it goes! You'll be amazed....
@California Hike & Bike Of course I'm going to buy what you recommend on Amazon I already have the links. God bless you!!
@J.C T Awesome! Good luck sir!
Thank you. Having this surgery next month. I've had plenty of surgeries over the years including coronary artery bypass. I am more anxious about this than any of the others but your video has eased that a little. Hope your recovery is going well!
Still positive experience for me. Just remember to take it easy and follow docs instructions during recovery....even when you feel well enough to get more active.
Going in for surgery in two days. Thank you for all your help and information. I will definitely follow it. Thanks again 👍
Good luck and have a great recovery. If you didn't see the 6 month update check it out!
Just had TURP yesterday and watched this. Well done. I have fair pain threshold but no shame in taking them to stay ahead of pain. It’s stressful enough going through this without having to grit your teeth and tough out the discomfort/ pain. 10mg of oxy/tylonal was made available to me every 4 hrs just in case. I made due with every 5 or 6 hrs and will stretch it out longer most likely.
They were going to send me home the same day but the idea of schlepping back later if things got complicated was not appealing. Insist on at least one night in hospital IMHO.
IM 70yrs old but pretty active and still employed. Have prostate cancer + outside the prostate. Don’t freak out if you get this diagnosis…sounds like I may die from something else if the hormone and radiation treatment are successful. Any questions for me are welcome as well.
Thanks for taking the time do this video brother.🤙🏽
You're welcome my friend. Godspeed on your recovery....

Hey Eric, you're welcome! Good luck with your surgery.
How did it go?
@@torpol Recovery went as well as to be expected. The results have been incredible. Only wish I'd done it sooner!
My last post on this, the surgery was last Wednesday the catheter was removed this morning after they filled my bladder to make sure I could pee before I left, wasn't a problem. I have not had an issue all day, very little bleeding and no leaking. At this point the worst part of it was the worry leading up to the surgery, lol, what a relief to actually pee instead of standing there trying to get the water works to actually work, no problem emptying. I started feeling plugged up about three years ago and from time to time it would get really bad at times to where I could barely go, four or five trips at to the bathroom at night I wish I had done this sooner than I did, it would have alleviated a lot of worry. Thanks again for the video it helped me before the surgery, anyone else thinking they need this just do it.
Dex, glad it's going well my friend! Thanks for sharing....

Very welcome, my friend! Good luck and get your stuff! Links in the description...
First of all thank you for all the good information, I’m not as worried as I was before when I thought about having a TURP. I also really appreciate one of bits of info you provided that is helping me immediately. I had my second instance of urine retention in the last six months and of course had to have a catheter inserted, besides the pain with the catheter going in once I got home the worst part was the dried blood and hair that gets stuck around the tube and the head , I thought this I time I would get a ahead of the curve and wash it away several times a day and put Vaseline around the head and tube which didn’t seem to help much, but your suggestion to use something like K-Y jelly made all the difference in the world. Thank you for making my next 5 days a little bit easier to go through.
Yep, makes a HUGE difference! You're welcome for that tidbit and please like and subscribe if you haven't already! Really helps the channel out....
Thank you for this educational video about rehabilitation after surgery. A lot of help! Carry On Sir!
You're welcome!
Wow! Lookit all the comments! Well, I'm glad that you posted this and that I found it. 12/18/23 big day! Will definitely get pads and Depends. Not as nervous as I was. More excited, really. Thanks again!
Get all the stuff! The lube is very important and so is the urinary relief. List is in the description with links.
Very grateful for your video on this delicate subject. Looks like I have this in my near future and it caught me completely off guard last week after a test with my urologist. Your video is extremely helpful and answered so many questions. It's not quite the black hole it was before I watched both of your videos. Fingers crossed. Thanks!!!
Thanks! If you have never experienced symptoms and are not on medication get a second opinion! Meds worked for me for about 5 years before starting to be less effective. The 1st option should not be surgery if there is no history nor some special circumstance.
I'm with you and surgery will be my last move. I live in San Diego but thinking about going to The Cleveland Clinic's Glickman Urology Center for 2nd opinion. Prostate has grown into my bladder. Didn't know that was even possible until he did the scope. Blindsided me. Just started taking the Finasteride 2 weeks ago and crossing my fingers. In the meantime, I'll be getting a 2nd opinion for sure. Your video was priceless. That surgery is anything but minor. Thanks.
@vxsmith Ask about Alfusozin as well. I took that for a few years before adding the finisteride. Worked well until it didn't anymore and surgery was necessary.
This is a really good video about TURP recovery. I have had three of these, and always took my own cathether out the morning after the operation. Just couldn't tolerate it, but your tips make it sound manageable.
Thanks sir...such a relief when it comes out though!
The doctor said it needed to stay in for a few days to let the swelling go down. You had 3?! What! Are you 100?
@@DennisMSulliva No, I am in my mid 60s. I had an obstructed bladder neck that they kept trying to fix with TURPS and laser TURPS. Now I have a permanent suprapubic cathether which completely changed my life. I used to be an active person, now everything I do involves the tube coming out of my stomach. I really hope I don't come anywhere close to living to be 100.
Thank you! Very thorough and very helpful
Thanks for the video! I go in for TURP surgery on August 10, 2023.
Cool and good luck! Get your stuff listed on the video. Links in the description above. Also I did a 6 month update also listed.
Very good and informed. More info than l got from Doctor.Thank you

Thank you guys. I am 78 and had the UROLIFT two years ago. The quack today is scheduling me for a TURP soon. I have to see another quack first.
Helpful hint: Don't call them a quack till AFTER the surgery! LOL
Don’t get the TURP. OLD technology since 1910. I just got the PAE. Research on UA-cam. 2 women MD urologists with up to date technology info. I followed their advice. Only 15 years old with micro tech. Painless 1 hour , no blood, no pain, no catheter. 3 weeks after PAE I was back to normal.
Do your own research. Best of luck.

Thank you for the video. I just had my TURP the day before I watched this video. My catheter is coming out about 56 hours after the surgery. The catheter isn’t painful. But like you, I find it uncomfortable and don’t want to move much. I’ll be happy when it’s out. Also, I appreciate you telling us about your postoperative experiences. If gives me an idea on what’s ahead. So far, this is the best video I’ve watched on a TURP. Most of the ones I found were by doctors talking solely about the procedure. Thank you.

Merry Christmas good sir, i wished i saw this before my procedure. Had it done on the 18th, last Monday. I was kinda worried. Im 52 and was concerned with the pain urinating afterwards. My procedure was in/out same day. In recovery the catheder was getting clogged with the blood clots. So this is where the real pain started. Dr had to change catheders to the 3 headed one that you refered to. He did so while i was awake and no numbing. Lord it hurt. Stayed 2 nights in hospital to flush bladder. Came home on Wednesday evening without catheder. They gave me the Phenazopyridine Hydrochloride (orange dye) for the burning urination. Passed the blood clots or pieces thru Saturday morning. Very painful like pulling the catheder out. Had to push hard while urinating to get them out. Relief afterwards. Urine cleared and only feeling slight burning because of the uretha discomfort from the bag. Stream looks alot better so i am hopeful that the procedure and pain will have been worth it. I should have gotten the disposable underwear thiugh. Hopefully worse is behind me. Hope your doing well as well as all the others that are dealing with the same problem. Been dealing with it for the last 5 years and doctor just now recommended this procedure ....
Merry Christmas and good luck with the rest of your recovery! Water, water and more water. Keep flushing your system.... and take it easy. Easier said than done when you start feeling pretty good. How's that stream? 😂🤣😎

Liked your vid, I’m 73 and have my TURP scheduled early July. I’m retired and living in Medellin, Colombia with my Colombian wife who doesn’t let me do anything like cleaning etc. The Drs office emailed her a list of stuff to buy and it had everything on your list. Down here you can buy narcotic pain meds over the counter with no Rx at any drug store and the Dr said if it hurts just buy pain med.--By the way, my full coverage medical insurance cost me $35 USD a month with a $1 or $2 USD deductible. Insurance premium is based on your income and i dont work, pensions are exempt so my income is zero.
Nice! Good luck with your surgery and recovery!

Thanks for the video, I had the green light laser procedure about 4 years ago, could urinate better but not as great as I thought I would. Had much pain and urgency issues for about 8 weeks. This past spring I started to have some troubles, he put a camera in and said a lot of the prostate had grown back. To start with he told me it was about the size of a baseball and when I started this journey my psa was 14 and got as high as 26. I've had two biopsies and have all come back clear. He recommended the TURPS, needless to say I was very nervous about the procedure. They put me under and when I woke up I was in the hospital bed with a catheter and an IV. They ran 20 very large bags of fluid throughout the afternoon and evening through my IV. By mid morning they took the catheter out. Had lunch got up and walked around, went to the restroom, urinated so hard it about through me backwards. Went home and drank water constantly. Don't think I even had to take a pain pill, I did take the AZO for burning about a week. Had about a week of a little bit of urgency, but soon after was great. 8 months out and still doing terrific. He said he sent about a 3oz cup of tissue for testing and it came back negative for any cancer, also found out my last psa was at 6. So if you are reading this and hesitant about the procedure, I can tell you I would do it again in a heartbeat
Hey Ray that's superb! Glad you had a successful TURP procedure and thanks for sharing! Hey don't forget to like and subscribe! Get's the word out to more folks when you do that!
Glad you commented about the green light. My doc suggested TURP, but from what I can tell the recovery is easier with green light. What was your green light recovery like compared to TURP?
Thanks for the info. I had rezum procedure a few years ago but now looking for a long term procedure.

I'm back home after the surgery, they used a couple of bags of saline and said everything looked good, drinking lots of water to keep the bladder flowing, some bleeding but not horrible, they are supposed to remove the catheter Monday, so far not as bad as I expected, no pain just mild feeling of needing to pee in my bladder. They did say to drink lots of water to keep the flow going and that should stop any clotting, so far so good, looking forward to using the new plumbing!
@DEX That's great. I remember My doc saying I could go as outpatient but after he scoped me said more invasive and requiring a night's stay. Yours must have been a little less than me so maybe a quicker recovery? That feeling you spoke of gets worse in the shower. Don't try to pee like you normally would. It will cause blood to escape the catheter tube. You'll see what I mean. I couldn't help it!
I did not read all comments, but FYI the saline filled balloon at the end of your catheter is filled to block the urethra (prevent leakage) and keep it from being accidentally pulled out.
I am having this procedure 1/3/24. REALLY appreciate your input!
Thanks. Yes, some other folks mentioned as well.
Very good info. Thanks

@@ylprealtor how long did it take to stop again? I am 25 days in and did the same, had clear urine for two days and figured, I'm good to go, but then I moved some firewood, played golf, now I have bleeding again. Pissed at myself for not being more patient.
Well, my TURP procedure occurs in about ten hours, if my urologist shows up this time (He has postponed my procedure twice...). Thank you for all of the great information. Unfortunately, I just watched your videos, so my wife is going shopping for five items for me while the procedure is being done; Wal-Mart is a block from the hospital... Mar. 14, 2024 - headed in tomorrow for a TURP. This video helped me the most to be prepared and what to expect. Honestly, still scared to death.
It is scary but almost like a miracle. That first time you pee it will sting a bit but you will be amazed! LOL Good luck and take it easy during your recovery!
How did your procedure and recovery go ?? I'm starting to have symptoms, probably had them for a while but they've intensified as of late so I know something's coming. Haven't even been to a urologist yet, I'm hoping medication might help. So many things to think about, there's Aquablation and Rezum. There's even a doctor in Arizona that does a TURP in office and no catheter needed. Kinda crazy ... Hope you're procedure went well ... 👊🏻
@@roberts.1400 - it went well and the catheter went much better than I expected (had it in 5 days but it allowed the prostate to get a good start on healing). I pee like a 16 yo now which is nice. I still do have urgency to go (I have to pee NOW type thing - for me it is especially when pumping gas which seems odd but it’s happened again and again 🤷🏻♂️). I’m told it will get better; I’m currently post about 9 weeks. I was too the point of where I just couldn’t go at times and would require a catheter to get through it and then I’d be ok for a couple weeks and then BAM, in we go again. Don’t let yourself get to that point as it isn’t any fun; I did meds for a couple years but never really had a great response to it. I’d do a TURP again for the results I’ve seen thus far. I was a little freaked out from the size of the catheter when I came to enough to realize it was there but it wasn’t ever a problem during the course of having it. I do have retrograde ejaculation (semen goes back into the bladder for the most part but sensations I’d say during orgasm are even better than before) but of the age where having kids has long passed so not a big deal to me. Pre-cum for me is normal which helps with intercourse but things I worried about pre-surgery. Probably more than you wanted to know but things I really freaked out over and in hindsight I didn’t need to. Good luck!
@@robvinande2699 I really do appreciate your response and I hear ya with the ejaculation thing, more of a mental thing just thinking about it but in practical terms I'm not having kids at my age anyways... I've got to call the VA today and see how soon I can get into a urologist, if medications give me a year or two to wrap my head around this then that's a plus, but then again retirement is soon approaching so having it done on the employers medical plan rather than medicare might give me more choices. This is somewhat unexpected, not like I saw it coming, I was humming along just fine until recently. Not something I'm looking forward to but sitting on the toilet for 20 minutes ain't no fun 😳 Best of luck in your continued recovery ...
I am going Wednesday. Good luck.
Getting close to 24 hours after surgery, no pain, no leakage, I have been drinking lots of water to keep flushed out, no clots at all, and blood in urine is much lighter, the lube helped a lot, not taking pain meds as I have no pain, the cath comes out Monday. I am looking forward to trying out the new plumbing I hope it sounds like a cow pissing on a flat rock, lol! The worst part so far was the worrying about it beforehand!
That's great! There was more bleeding for me after about a week when the internal scab started to break apart and flush out. It was light though. Sounds like you are on a good road.
Very informative. Thanks very much
You're welcome. Check out the 6 month update as well!
Thanks for the info. 🙏
Certainly!
Day 6 Post TURP. Procedure was at 5 pm on a Friday and was discharged around 720pm that same day. Was instructed to drink 2 + liters a day of bottled water and follow up on Monday for removal of catheter. Hook it on shower door and tape it with a strip of medical tape to your leg after your showers as explained in this video. The catheter used on me only had 2 outlet towards the bag and not 3. I only saw a small blood clot on day 3, No pain at all for me, not even when I peed. I used the depends for 3 days only as I stopped staining them after I peed, then just gym shorts. Catheter was removed on Monday, was given 200 cc thru catheter and was told after removal I had to pee out at least half to be sent home without it and I did, peed out 150 cc. Was then told to keep drinking the water and not lift more than a gallon of milk until the end of the month and was given a follow up appointment in 3 months. Guess everyone is different because I have had zero pain or maybe they making small changes to this procedure that is better for the patient. I didn’t even need the pills for the pain when you pee, need to return them to Walmart. So far so good.
Thanks for this.
You're welcome!
Very helpful. Thanks
Jeffrey, You're welcome! Good luck if you get one!
Thank you for the info.
You're welcome!
Thanks for sharing. Good health
You're welcome! You as well!
Hi, great video, and thanks for sharing. and i have just had Holep for enlarged prostate, very similar experience, and fully agree with the advice. I wish i had bought some of the adhesive gauze as the catheter can be a bit uncomfortable. I had to wear mine for several days. The pants and pads, oh yes, just in case, but well worth it and wear the pants at night and the pads during the day. I read the comment about delaying surgery, i did the same but having experienced chronic urinary retention, using catheters and frequent UTIs, just get the op done, it isnt worth delaying the op, i can wee now, not much at the moment but it is flowing again. I am in the UK, so the process is very similar.
Thanks for the thoughtful comments James! Good luck with your recovery.
Thank you man !
You're welcome!
Prosthetic artery embolization!!!! Look it up worked for me no side effects
good adv.thankx
thanks
I have a surgery pre-op visit scheduled for December 11th. I also have BPH and I am at my maximum strength of medication allowed. When I examined by an urology staff member, she said she was recommending to a surgeon. I will probably have the TURPS procedure in the coming weeks. I am 74, and will be 75 in March. I’ve been on tamsulosin and finasteride for several years and it isn’t quite doing what it is supposed to do. Thanks for the very comprehensive video. I appreciate you taking the time to help others through a very delicate procedure….. it has been a year since your TURPS. Any regrets or backlash from it. Anyway, very informative video. Thanks!!
First off, I have zero regrets. I posted a 6 month update here: ua-cam.com/video/Q6xFr37tlHQ/v-deo.htmlsi=jgGjz2jYVhJvPsfe I also plan to do a 1 year update in January sometime. Good luck. Get your stuff I talked about and listed in description. You'll be glad you did!
Appreciate your generous sharing, Sir❤
Great video. Had TURP June 1. My post surgery response was considerably different than yours. Had a catheter in for about 48 hours post surgery (still in hospital). When catheter removed was pounding liquid trying to pee. Nothing. Was also constipated. About four hours later, sizable clot was discharged and was able to pee about 400 ml and also had a bowel movement. After voiding was released from hospital with no catheters. First time in three weeks. YES. Since then pretty consistent volume of urine (400ish ml). I track every pee just to get an idea of what is normal for me. My biggest issue right now (day 5) is constipation. Bottom line, although early, TURP seems to have worked for me, consistent volume of pee, stronger stream, feels like I’m emptying much better, no searching for men’s room in every store. Long term, we’ll see.
Thank you sir. If you are taking any pain meds they have been known to cause constipation. Just a thought. Speedy recovery to you!
@@californiahikebikeyep, have heard that but no narcotic medicine since immediately after surgery five days ago. Only Tylenol.
Organic soft prunes really good for sorting constipation, just a few each day otherwise big handfuls of prunes will upset tummy.
I had a similar experience. After they took the cath out, that night each urination got progressively slower until it stopped totally. So, at 3:00 a.m. I’m digging out one of my straight catheters and got some relief. I was back at the urologist's office when they opening and was recathed. Quite a bit came out. I kept the catheter for a couple more days, then everything flowed well. I am at day eight and my urine is about the color of cherry 7-up, sometimes a bit lighter. I followed the advise and got the Depends, extra pads for regular underwear and a night bag. They would only supply a leg bag, which made the first night home (I did not stay overnight) miserable. I found the one on Amazon that would be delivered the same day and that night slept like a log. I used a coat hanger under the mattress to hang the bigger bag and everything worked well. Thanks for this very real video…I watched it before surgery, ordered everything suggested and was glad I did. I am on day eight so I just watched again…it and the comments are very reassuring. Thanks, Man!
Awesome video. Thank you so much for doing it. I've subscribed to show my thanks. I'm having a TURP in a month or two. I sure hope it goes as well as yours.
Question for you: Aquablation is the new thing in prostates. I would have imagined Cali would have the latest greatest technology for everything. Was this system not available to you when you had you operation done?
Thank you very much very very helpful
You're welcome!
@californiahikebike been reading since last few months just got surgery 3 days ago can thank you enough God Bless
Greetings - Just got back from my urologist. My problem was off the chart PSA and 4K scores along with weak stream and "the dribble". Doc said I could put it off (I'm 65), but I'm going to have it anyway as precaution. Having it in early August. Thanks for the information. I already have the Amazon order ready to go.
Have you tried any meds? They worked for me for several years until they didn't!
Glad to find this review should have 100,000 more likes and views.
Great review from a patients experience Thank you.
Doctors should be more honest about Recovery and most downplay this procedure as easy peasy on you tube and in office, But when I view patients experience as well as my own thats most the time not the case. Just say DRs its uncomfortable, painful and inconvenient after the anesthesia and meds wear off, and go from there .
Thanks! I think like any surgical procedure there is pain during recovery and also risk of complications. I consider myself fortunate mine went very well. The worst part for me was the damn catheter. That was a pain in the......
Thank you very much for your video it was very helpful especially post operation and what to have on hand my operation will be on June 29th I will definitely know what to look for now in the first nine days thank you and have a Happy New Year
You're welcome sir. Get those supplies and good luck!
I appreciate you.
Thanks man! Appreciate you as well.
I had TURP done on 10/02/2023 the best thing I have done. My other doctors were just giving me pills for years. They just about destroyed my bladder. I was having to use catheters sometimes to pee. Just find a good surgeon who knows what they are doing. That is what I did was to find a good doctor, who told me what I needed. I pee so good now, I wonder why they made me suffer for so long. Pills do not work they did nothing for m
Thank you for your video. On June 17 the doctor will do a balloon dilation of urethral stricture with Optilume drug-coated balloon to dilate the urethral stricture and make sure that it is open for the T.U.R.P. surgery. The doctor has to make sure the opening in the urethra is wide enough to get the T.U.R.P. tool inside. Then the T.U.R.P. surgery on June 28.
The urethra is the tube that transports urine.
Good luck with your recovery. Please check back in....
I appreciate this video! I'm having TURP this coming Friday and have been getting as much information as I possibly can to go in prepared. you're very helpful! I do have a question: how long after the surgery were you able to drive a car? We live in two places (sounds fancier than it really is lol) and I'm hoping to be able to travel between the two as soon as possible after the surgery.
I believe it was 2-3 weeks but I could be mistaken. Pushing the brake wasn't fun. And if you have to push hard all of a sudden to avoid an accident, it's not gonna feel good.
Good information, from. From UK.
Thank you!
6 month update coming up! Please subscribe if you haven't already.....
thank you for the information and the, before items to purchase.
I'm going to have the operation. One thing I will say is I was a big coffee drinker. My Doctor said. "Stop drinking coffee". I didn't listen.
😊My Dad was over for a week he's 87. He's never had the operation and only drinks Earl Grey, Breakfast tea with milk.
So I changed and drank tea.
I'm not sure if it's a magic trick?
I've stopped rushing to the toilet 20 to 30 times a day and seriously needing to GO!!!!!!!
To a much calmer "If I need to go there is no hurry" WTFlip
When I go it flows.
This works for me.
As usual if it works for me it might not work for others? 😊
I'm 41 years old guy. I had HOLEP Holmium laser surgery last year due to chronic prostatitis and serious problems with urinate (residual urine of more than 100 mL after urination). The Doctors said Holmium laser is better than TURP so i decided to undergo this surgery. The day after the surgery they put a catheter out of my bladder and fill it to full - i had urinary retention 380 ml. So they decided to catheterize me for 2 weeks, the doctor said this might be caused by urethra swelling after the surgery. 2 weeks later the doctor pull out the catheter and i could urinate quite well - wide stream, no problems with beginning of urination. After 1.5 month i started to have problems with uronation again (narrow stream, i had to wait long for urine beginning, urinary hesitancy). After another 2 months i almost couldn't urinate - i had to sit and push the urine out of my bladder using my abdominal press , the stream was narrow like thread or more ofter rather drops of urine than stream. The cystoscopy showed critical narrowing of the bladder neck and i my bladder's neck was incised , TUNI surgery. Is that possible that the narrowing of the bladder neck is the complication of Holmium laser prostate surgery? Can this problem returns all the time even if the bladder was incisted and it is quite wide now? Sorry for my English, i don't use this language on daisy basis and thank for advice, i appreciate that
Wow! Sorry for all the complications of your HOLEP procedure. Unfortunately, I'm not a doctor so I can't answer your questions. I would definitely opt for a second opinion from another doctor. Good luck my friend.
