- The Fisher 150 is the first receiver I ever heard. My parents bought it new in 1968. Still works great and it's never been fixed!

I set up in my office today Fisher 500c with Source Technology 1.6 Bookshelf Speakers
Oddly enough I bought a 550t while my dad bought this 150. I loved this unit and will try to get one soon!
I love vintage gear. I’m resuming my audio hobby after years off. This Covid shut down got me back in.
I've recently bought a 150 and also a 500T receiver. The 150 is sweet and full for bedroom listening through Jamo or Polk bookshelf speakers. The EQ is weird though-I have to turn both bass and treble down to 1/4 to find the midrange. I suspect the 150 was engineered to compensate for the 150's matching speakers' lack of bass and treble extension. My 500t has been recapped with high-grade components, and I've soldered in a shorter 12-gauge power cable. The result is an amp that sounds modern and "fast", but again requires a broad midrange EQ bump around 400 Hz. That said, in recordings, instruments have weight and authority often lacking in modern gear.
Thanks for watching! Yeah, I've never tried my 150 with any other speakers, but I wouldn't be surprised if the EQ is specific to the matching Model 5s. I'd love to pickup a 500T at some point.
It might not be "audiophile" but if it's a pleasant listening experience then I think it is audiophile. I used to chase the higher end stuff but after years of that I found what I enjoy is a pleasant sound, not the highest fidelity and not the most revealing, just a comfortable sound.
P.S. Lint rollers work wonders with cat hair😉
I got a Fisher 150 receiver and one Model 5 speaker, but need another. Looking for leads!!!!!
I recently picked up a pair of amazing condition Model 5 and would sell if your interested
