The Rams in the mid to late 1980's quietly had one of the best cornerback tandems ever in LeRoy Irvin and Jerry Gray. Both made multiple Pro Bowls, and were arguably the best corner duo in that league other than Hanford Dixon/Frank Minnifield.
That's awesome, I was thinking that same thing as I watched this video. Being a Broncos fan way back when, I was real familiar with Minnifield & Dixon from all the AFCCGs.

The more you research, the more you'll find stories like this. They are not as anomalous at all, fine (usually Black) players ridiculously mistreated by management. Duane Thomas' full story deserves an accurate telling. Paul Zimmerman wrote a book about it that was decent, and at least talked to Duane and had some of his side.

I'm a life long Kansas Jayhawks fan and LeRoy Irvin is my all time favorite Kansas Jayhawk. I was 12 years old in 1986 and the Kansas football program was absolute garbage at that time. Almost as bad as today's program. I first found out about Irvin from the back of 1986 Topps football card and saw he played at KU, a great player that came from a awful program during that time, he became my favorite.
