First-off: I want to give a ton of credit to that Houston basketball team. 33 wins is nothing to be ashamed of, and Coach Sampson did a great job with that group tonight. You guys made it a dogfight, and instead of folding, you guys stayed in it until the very end.
PJ Washington was the MVP of this game. Tyler Herro's 3 was amazing, and it was a total team effort, but if it wasn't for PJ, I think Kentucky loses this game. I had an odd feeling watching this game; I had a feeling Kentucky was going to lose this game, it felt just like the last 8 minutes of that semi-final game against Tennessee in the SEC Tournament. This is the first time Kentucky really pulled through and got the win in a game like this. PJ Washington is going to be an amazing player at the next level. His ability to do well on the offense and defensive sides of the ball is unmatched to a lot of players in the country.

As a UH fan I’m proud of how the cougars did this season, and I think they could’ve won this game if the would’ve planned the last play properly, but still a great game by Kentucky

Yeah, as we all know there's been a few times in the past during huge games that Coach Cal has opted to take those timeouts to the grave with him rather than using them. I think he's slowly learning his lesson with that stuff. Like when UNC knocked us out when Monk was on UK he could have called a timeout to prep his defense @ the end but he did not and we lost in heartbreaking fashion. The guy's a great coach, a great recruiter. But man, he's lost with some teams that were loaded with talent to hugely inferior teams. He's an A++ recruiter, but he's about an A- end game coach. The proof is in the pudding, no way he should only have 1 ring @ UK with the teams he's had..

We played an awful 2nd half. The team struggled offensively when Houston made insane 3 pointers time after time. Fortunately the Wildcats woke up with one minute left. P.J. Washington single-handedly turned the tide and Herro sealed the deal. BTW it's very emotional to hear "My Old Kentucky Home" played by our Pep Band during the post-game. Go Cats! Go Big Blue! #BBN

PJ hits a one handed jumper inside the paint, huge block by PJ on the other end, Herro nails a 3, assist by Johnson, UK great defense, Herro gets the ball so he’s the one fouled to stop the clock, 94% FT shooter hits both double-bonus free throws to seal the deal, and up by/win by 4pts. Elite 8 bound. GO BBN!

That block by Washington starting the fast break that led to Herro's 3 was definitely the play(s) of the game. Probably not the best shot selection by Houston, but as a UK fan will definitely take it. Think UK scored 12 points the first 16+ minutes of the 2nd half then 13 the last 3+...Credit to Houston for making it a very tough game. On to the Elite 8..Auburn is smoking hot..hopefully it's a good game. Or a UK blowout :)
That was definitely the play of the game! Auburn has been on a tear since the SEC Tournament, but one of their key players might be out. Should be a good game and an all SEC Elite Eight matchup! #GoBigBlue
Just remember we blew them out by 30? Yah we got bad blood with them and they’ve played well since they lost to us, but we know their number and one take away for Kentucky in this tournament is their defense! It’ll be interesting to see auburn try and scorch us from deep!
Bottlecap 2337 i agree totally. Those ladt 2 drives by Davis were poor decision on his part. First drive he should have looked to dish instead of trying to take on the trees. He had 3 guys in front of him. Someone was open for a deuce to tie it at that point. And then the last drive he helped the defender by driving baseline. He limited his options. All the defender had to do was crowd him into a tough shot. Good coaching. Just hate to see it end on a poorly executed plays. Would have rather lost on throwing up a last second prayer.
But still proud of the way they fought back.
Francis Philpott yah I understand where you’re coming from, but Auburn will struggle to shoot with the length of Kentucky, I am not saying it’s a easy win but it’ll be a tough game for auburn losing a huge scorer for their team? It’ll be a great game but a tough one for them both? But I think Kentucky will won it?

Cameron Clark except it is. These kids played subpar opponents throughout High-school and dominated them in every aspect. It’s hard to bring the big heads of these kids down to surface level and to play a team game when it’s been a them game for 4 years.

It doesn't make any sense that Tyler Herro does not have a larger role in the Kentucky offense.
This is due to the fact that Herro is one of the best player and probably the best score in UK so other teams put the fastest man to guard him very close the entire game. Sometimes he is so guarded that he cant even shoot. But defensively he a big part of the game just like he did with Purdue. Whe Fletcher MaGee went 13-0 for 3s

Those 2 last possessions killed us. Corey should've looked for the kick-out, Armoni was burying everything, yet Corey has proven to be money finishing close to the rim. Perhaps a little more planning could've won us this game.

Seeing all the other games left in the field, I just don't see Kentucky to advance very far. Inside out is good against most team, but the reminding field has many teams with good defence and seen like outside in is the remaining option in the close race.

I'm from Lexington KY so IAM a UK fan. I will say this y'all have a great team and gave us a wake up call when we met at the beginning of the season. I think if we meet it will come down to who has the ball last honestly
this one hurt as a coogs fan, but not quite as bad as Jordan Poole the year before against Michigan. These runs for UH seem apparent as long as Samspon is the leader

Great game, but my initial thought when Herro let go of that ball in the end was, "dumb shot".. but it went in, i mean we were down 1 @ that point. Didn't need a 3, and if he missed that shot, the game is pretty much over and he had a good look, BUT he WASN'T WIDE OPEN. Our strength the entire game was the post and 2 of their main interior defenders had fouled out, so Washington or Travis in the post would have been the smarter play, but IT went in. So, you gotta give the kid credit. BUT, no way UK WINS without PJ Washington, they probably lose by 10.

Hard to see what the foul was on the 3-point play by Washington with 56 seconds left. I thought the defender had legal guarding position and even leaned away from Washington as he went up for the shot.

Really both teams couldn't find their rhythm in this game. Having a basketball game at 10:15pm Eastern time is way to late. Especially with a trip to the Elite 8 on the line.

I'm a UH student, and I knew going into this game we were going to struggle, since Kentucky looks way better on paper and we have no designated big guy..hard to rebound against people several inches taller than you and defend them in the paint. Good game though.
UH is hella influenced by the Rockets with the small ball things. Armoni Brooks was amazing, kept yall in the game with his heart and defense. I'm a coogs fan now

The refs called a foul on Houston on almost every one of Kentucky’s possessions down the stretch. This was clearly a case of the refs being influenced by the Vegas books and working to give Kentucky the advantage. Anyone watching that game would know this.
Am not even a fan of either team, but the refs made this a really sad and difficult game to watch.

This was the first time I watched either team this year, but objectively it was very strange that the Houston starting line up was halved by players fouling out. Also Kentucky came back from down 3 on two trips to the line coming from off the ball foul calls.
PJ was clutch of course and nothing taken away from the players. But that’s why it’s sad to see refs taking the game away from the players.

This was the game I knew for sure this Kentucky teams was on borrowed time.
After the wofford game I was suspicious but we had the excuse that PJ was missing. Plus I was thinking...another week to get themselves right...maybe they get going again in KC. Nope.
They played scared against wofford and then did the same thing against Houston. Probably shouldn’t have beaten Houston. Not so lucky against loose auburn team.
Good season. But ultimately still disappointing imo for a team that some had preseason #1. Point guard play was a problem for the first time since 2013. Richards still wasn’t where we needed him to be and Montgomery was vastly overrated.

Are you for real? Easy bracket? Man, I don't know what tourney you watch... But this year was the easiest we've had in years. 2012 and 2014 was anything but "easy"
Wofford hadn't lost in 3 months up until they played Kentucky. One of their players has hit the most 3s in NCAA basketball history and was held 0-12 from 3. Houston was a decent 3 seed who was on a streak themselves. Keeping potential Cinderella's in check is no easy task, plus Kentucky definitely had 1 of the toughest schedules in the country. Food for thought.
