Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget is a 2023 British stop motion animated comedy film directed by Sam Fell, from a screenplay by Karey Kirkpatrick, John O'Farrell and Rachel Tunnard, from an original story by Kirkpatrick and O'Farrell.[4] A sequel to Chicken Run (2000), the film was produced by Aardman Animations and Netflix Animation. It stars the voices of Thandiwe Newton, Zachary Levi, Bella Ramsey, Romesh Ranganathan, David Bradley, Daniel Mays, Jane Horrocks, Imelda Staunton, Lynn Ferguson, Josie Sedgwick-Davies, Nick Mohammed, and Miranda Richardson.
Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget had its world premiere at the 67th London Film Festival on 14 October 2023, and is scheduled to be released on 15 December 2023, by Netflix.

I feel like Chicken Run is the greatest animated movie of all time, Because it sets an emotional, action packed, fun and groundbreaking story for kids to enjoy. I myself watched it dozens of times as a kid. I hope I will like Dawn of the Nugget. Excellent review on the movie Brandon! thumbs up👍🏻👍🏻

Apparently they recast Ginger because the original voice actress, Julia Sawalha was considered “too old” for the part which is silly. Julia even went as far as to record a video of herself reciting lines from the original film just to prove a point, and she sounds exactly the same.

Even weirder is that they chose Thandie Newton as her replacement. Thandie is only 4 or 5 years younger than Julia.
I do agree the new farm wasn’t really realistic but I like how they made it harder for the chickens to escape from.

There is an Easter egg in the last shot of the movie where Feathers McGraw (from The Wrong Treasures) makes an appearance alongside with the rest of the chickens. He seemed not keen and walked away, but I thought that was a very clever Easter Egg.

Chicken Run is such a classic. Unfortunately, every single joke in Dawn of the Nugget fell completely flat for me

Hey Brandon, your review of Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget (2023) is excellent and my highly anticipated film of all time from Aardman Animations is the next Wallace and Gromit film released next year and I have a history with Wallace and Gromit. The film won't have Peter Sallis returning as the voice of Wallace since he passed away in 2017, and I agree about Mel Gibson not being in Dawn of the Nugget (2023) because he is the one and only Rocky not Zachary Levi.

Well it's been years since I've last watched the first Chicken Run movie thankfully they have the first movie on Netflix and it felt Great to watch it on there before watching Dawn of the Nugget and after watching Chicken Run Dawn of the Nugget on Netflix it was Okay it was Good for what it was nowhere near as Great as the first movie but it's still a fun movie to watch on Netflix

Okay, I think that’s a bit of a stretch. They escaped because they made a flying machine out of chicken coops… I would feel pretty confident if I was able to do that… Apples and Oranges

I found the movie ok, I didn't hate it and it made me chuckle at "You get to sit in a bucket! What chicken doesn't want their own bucket?" I did not like how they turned both roosters into complete idiots.

I definitely think you should Ryan. Chicken runners on my all-time, favorite, animated movies, and one of my favourite movies ever. I would say they are great movies to watch with the whole family!
After all of the rather unnecessary reboots, sequels and rubbish films, this movie is the perfect example of a needed sequel DONE RIGHT!!

Great review Brandon! I remember watching the first one back in the year 2000 when it first came out. I was with my cousin Philip and we watched this in a theater in a small town in Tennessee and we both enjoyed it! I even remember "The Great Escape" reference it had! 😂 I'm surprised a sequel even existed when I heard you mention it. After seeing your review, I'd like to check it out and also get some chicken mcnuggets at McDonald's! The word nugget in the title of this film made me hungry! 😅

You confirmed my fears. When I saw the trailer and realised that the tone was slightly different and the voice actors were changed, I immediately thought.... uggghhhhhh.
Yeah… honestly, it’s not THAT big of a deal. And SOME of the actors are the same
@@BrandoCritic its such a shame Mel Gibson and Julia Sawalha couldn't come back... maybe they cost too much... or Gibson was too controversial a character for a kids film?? Who knows. I can't think of many sequels made 20 years later that can truly match the tone and style of the original.
Yeah… it’s not as AMAZING as the original… but it’s still VERY good

I felt like the TRoS character middling for me, they lacked the absolute fear they had beforehand.

As much i was looking for this movie i still went with low expectations, because last time i thought sequel was gonna better than original was Cars 2 and we all know how that turn out to be, but luckily Dawn Of The Nugget is good sequel to 1st Chicken Run and i had really good time watching this movie and it was great to see these characters again and it could be awesome if they make Chicken Run 3.

I thought it was a good fun film but the first film is the best. I always liked Mel Gibson as the voice of rocky but I understand why he wasn’t in this film. Would have liked rocky to have more screen time. Worth the watch and interested to see if they do a chicken run 3 and where they would take the story.

Putting all criticisms aside, what's most important to me is... did this movie entertain me?..... and it didn't. It was rather boring and formulaic. I could predict everything that was gonna happen in this movie. There was very little internal conflict.

I was disappointed they made him and Fowler bumbling idiots. Like most works regarding male characters in movies these days.
