Glad you guys have had 10 years, hope you can get another 10. With the fickle nature of the internet and how quickly things come and go....10 years is great achievement!❤
I mean, Baldur's Gate 3 being so close to winning 'Favorite New IP' doesn't surprise me. Imagine how many versions of 'Lies of ..' there was before 'P'.
I say it every year, but it remains true so I'll say it again: Best Games of the Year show on the internet. The only games award show I look forward to each winter. Looking forward to the 2024 awards!
This is by far my favorite list crew. Three completely different gamers I recognize myself in depending on my mood and I can agree with everything on that list. Jp and Cohh are mostly like me, but Zeke is always interesting.
I LOVE this show so much. Thank you guys for doing it every year. All of you bring your own perspective into your picks and it brings an amazing and broad selection for (almost) all the categories. I look forward to this show every year! Thank you!
@@BloodyBobJrAnother surprising thing is the people who made fall guys made hateful boyfriend, The pigeon dating simulator, I still am mind fucked learning about that
So fucking glad to see Breakout 13 made it to Zeke’s top 10, Such a big surprise and I’m so happy to see, I still remember last year’s list we got Not for broadcast at 4 on the list, Glad to see Zeke still being the variety enjoyer
To justify for the people who just clear voted BG3 for every category. A lot people don't have time to play the plethora of games that come out every year, they're still working through the backlog of games too, and BG3 is SUPER long for regular players, it might be one of the only large games people would play all year.
I'm glad to see the results for best performance - to avoid spoliers I'll keep it vague: a truly impressive voicing of a character comes around several times a year in games and the VAs doing that work deserve so much credit for it (credit to the writers where it's due), but it's really unusual for that character to be the entire world.
I think his criticism is entirely valid. The spell animations they showed for pictomancer look like generic ass magic. The ice block is literally just a blizzard spell. There's just a beam of paint. I think the flashiness is dope, but the animations they showed? Like he said, zero creativity. I want to see the pictomancer draw things and it comes to life to do the attack. If I want a block of ice to hit my enemy i'll just play BLM. There's so much potential here and so far what they showcased is not taking advantage of it.
@@altairian8 and yet the ppl mostly having this take are the same ppl who say the art style is too distracting and doesn't mesh with the game, so the solution being offered is something that will then cause even MORE of that perceived dissonance? It's very obviously a different aesthetic that just simply doesn't appeal to some, which is perfectly fine. They showed probably a quarter of its kit, ppl need to wait for the job action trailer to actually have an informed opinion. Hell the viper trailer was literally just basic attack animations and ppl creamed themselves over it too Edit: Also the "beam of paint" is literally the moogle shooting a beam, you can see the model. It's kind of hard to claim it isn't creative when the action in whole is effectively draw-summoning a moogle to attack for you.
@@necroguy11 Not sure why you strawmanned me, I didn't say anything about the art style of it. I didn't catch the moogle shooting the beam, that definitely does improve it a bit. Hopefully the majority of the attacks are like that, where it's something drawn doing the attack, and not just a block of ice dropping on their head.
You could probably find it on his twitch uploads section, It has like tons of VODs backed up since like 2022, Twitch automatically deleted VODs normally after 2 months or 60 days as partners, But you can upload it as a mod or a creator to save it permanently
I always look forward to this show every year. You guys are awesome. :) Cities Skylines II still feels like a really fun game, in spite of itself. I did make some graphical compromises but it's not a game that really needs it anyway. It's ok JP, that was the first thing I noticed about Spider-Man 2 as well. This year was a bit of a surprise. I thought Cohh was going to place Alan Wake higher based on how he talked about it. I have to admit, I forgot Hogwart's was this year.
I've had BG games on my backlog for ages but only recently finished BG1 and I'm currently 40-ish hours into BG2 for the first time, and it's GREAT! Once you get immersed in the superb writing and quests and roleplaying, nothing else matters and it's smooth sailing! EDIT: Here's a hot take... Being into PRGs but not liking reading, to me, kinda sounds like being into cars, but not enjoying driving :)
When JP said the only way he got through Alan Wake 2 is by playing at 10% volume, I just imagined him running away from monsters with Running Up That Hill by Kate Bush blasting at 100% volume xD
BG3 was a surprise for the community? These people must have never played a Larion game before. After DOS2, I was 100% certain that BG3 was going to be incredible.
I adore Owlcat games. But my rule of thumb is wait until Cohh finishes his play through before I start my own. That month or two wait means I'm not watching him stream it either in order to avoid spoilers, but that's what the YT play list for. In that time, Owlcat will patch and paint a lot of the most glaring issues.
for the community vote: is there an option were i can see what i voted? i don't remember. on steam there is 'community voted X, you voted Y'. would be cool if there was an option in the future.
Sad that chained echoes didn't make Cohh's list, I remember him playing it last January and saying it would've been his GOTY for 2022 had he played it that year
-I would argue that the popularity of unfinished and bad games for streamers will always invite developers to make such games. We perpetuate the problem.
I wonder how long it's going to take for someone to take that AI text to speech program and have it learn what is already there in RogueTrader and fill in the rest of the lines as a mod.
Hi-Fi Rush not making either Cohh or Zeke's top 10 is understandable given neither continued playing beyond the first level, but not even making the community top 10 is really just disappointing. Edit: Zeke did play through the whole game as well.
I think a lot of the things that made BG 3 so accessible to the mainstream are the things that made me not like it as much, but then again I didn't really love the Original Sin games either or am a big supporter of turn-based (especially if they use a dnd system the way BG 3 did). I could write an essay about what the problems of BG 3 are, but instead will just hope that Larian's next game will be even more to my liking. Overall I prefer Dragon Age 1 and 3, the Mass Effect trilogy or Witcher 3 in terms of an immersive RPG experience and the writing of something like Kotor 2 is just on a different level compared to BG 3. But if it all means we get more RPGs in the future, I'm on board. And Larian is a great company, so I applaud them in any case.
Writing in Kotor 2 was pure unfinished 💩 Hope that Larian will ignore such peeps like you and do what they do best - we don't need them making anything as worthless as DA Inquisition or ME3 LMAO
@@marcuskane1040 You are entitled to your (wrong) opinions, but I doubt you even know what writing means in regards to games if you call Chris Avellone's work poop. :) But I suppose that is something BG 3 and Kotor 2 have in common, the last act being unfinished/rushed and all.
Last time I commented on this somebody was really offended by the fact I got there before them... what are the chances I get berated in a comment twice in a row I wonder?

It's just equally as mind-boggling and disapointing. Thanx for the show though. Even though this year was disapointing, its always entertaining to watch these every year.
Should really change the title of the top 3 games streamed. make it sound like there top 3 games that have the most hours in. If his most anticipated game being Stalker 2 came as a surprise to you, you probably haven't followed him for that long. He's done at least 4 playthroughs of the franchise on stream. Even the "spinoff" series, Metro, was his #1 game of the year a couple of years ago when the newest one launched.
I've been following himn since 2018 just after he played P5. and to honest? sure he mentions the stalker series a lot but not nearly enough as he does yakuza series.
