You can cycle the grid off/partial/full by clicking the small square in the top left corner of the canvas. You can also make an offset of an offset to get the black line on your “Asher” without using pen function. Type text Asher, then add 1st offset and apply the color you like. Then select that offset layer, add new offset and set the color. Then highlight all 3 layers and flatten. Voila, no pen required.😊
omg was i living under a rock????? mind blown... the last one was the bane of my existence... i NEEDED to be able to label my work.. THAAAAANK YOU !!!!!
You know what would be so cool and helpful? If Cricut told us on the cut screen which mat to use for the chosen material!! I feel it would be great for beginners, especially. Love all your work. MAKERS GONNA LEARN!
You can also go between grid types by clicking in the top left hand corner (the empty square) at the meeting of the grid margins to toggle between no grid, part grid and full grid. No need to go through settings.
I loved this video! When I'm in design space I like to place my arrow in the small box between the two 0's , and click there to change the grids on my screen I like doing this better than going to settings and changing it there!
Loved this segment! Yep, I learned a few things I didn't already know, especially working with fonts and the settings. Since I just downloaded the newest update today, I was having trouble finding where my settings were, but like you said (after I had already figured it out - LOL), the settings are now under my profile. Keep up the good work. I learn something new every time I watch your videos!
This is really great, lots of helpful information. I would like to see you fo an in depth video on doing an offset on a very detail image. A flower with drippin colors or something like that. I have one & have been trying to get the offset to work on my flower images & it just wondering. Very frustrating. I do a lot with flower & making stickers to go on my resin pieces so this would be huge for me. Thanks for sharing all your tips & tricks
Oh my! Thank you so much for these tips. I learned about manipulating LAYERS today, thanks to your awesome instruction, and this will be very helpful to me in future projects. I struggle trying to learn things on my own because it can be a frustrating process. Your video today was so timely as I am working on a small Christmas vinyl project using Design Space on my iPhone (not the best approach), and the layers were messing with me! Not any more! ❤😊
ahhhh thank you for showing where the settings moved. I have been on beta. I don't mind it, but like you said, I couldn't find things and I was searching for UA-cam to tell me things (just like this). :)
Thanks so so much for these hacks, especially the text ones. I have wondered for so long why Cricut didn't have a way of thickening text, now I k ow how to do it THANKS SO MUCH❤❤❤❤
This is a very helpful tutorial video. I learned I have a glitch in my software and I cannot switch from Beta to Live. I have reported my issue! Thank you so much! I love your style of teaching as well! You are appreicated! Susie
My Cricut Design Space updated a few days ago 8.2.54 is the current version. The version that you are using on here is 7.44.1 so there are no longer the 3 lines in the upper left and some of the other canvas things have changed also. This won't work on the new version.
Thank you, I always learn something new and/or learn the update. Now talking about the Layers Panel, learned the moving in and out of the groups. But Cricut needs to FIX THE LAYERS PANEL. It turns everything grey and it takes me forever to find the image I'm working on or need. Is there any way for us to change that or is that a something Cricut needs to fix. I specifically turn images to a color that I can later find, but now forget it. And if you have vision problems, (let me keep this clean) it's worse. Thank you for sharing. ALMEDIA ♥♥
Thank you so much for all these great tips! One of the best Makers Gonna Learn videos I have watched. I will be referring back to this video often!! Loved it ❤
You didn't show how to flatten the Ho Ho Ho sticker again after you unflattened it and renamed them and it still being grouped. Do you have to ungroup everything in order to select the Ho Ho Ho items to flatten it again? Or can you select only the Ho Ho Ho sticker while it being grouped still?
Thank you so much MGL!!! This is a totally AWESOME video!! So many hacks and tips that are so useful!! Thank you Lauren!! You're a Rockstar!! 💯👍🏼👏🏼☝🏼🫶💯
I do. I sand the wood completely smooth then give a couple of coats of varnish before adding the vinyl. On my first attempt, I just added the vinyl to the sanded wood then varnished over the top - that didn't work and the vinyl eventually peeled off 😊
OK.. Let me pick my jaw off the floor.. I'm sorry, but making the font a bit bolder is just easy as that?! Like whaaaat?! I have been moaning at myself & DS about the lack of bold option, and yet here you are - telling us the easy way. Then proceed to open my mouth like a goldfish on pen outline to make the outline better.. I like that. Thanks for the tips, I'm happy now 😁
I wish and maybe there’s a way and I’m not seeing it. But when you upload a design why does it always have to be print and cut? Because then you’re limited to size and I could just cut it with scissors or whatever.
Was she working on beta or live…..the reason I’m asking is she came with really cool stuff and as I said it looked like she work with beta…..is that the only way we was can use the cool things she has just shown us.

I tried this too, but didnt have much luck. Any tips on how to change it in the updated version?
Wait, the small blank square between the two zeros...thank you - it works.
omg was i living under a rock????? mind blown... the last one was the bane of my existence... i NEEDED to be able to label my work.. THAAAAANK YOU !!!!!
I learned several things but my favorite is the black outline for stickers. Great teaching.
Thank you!
The offset function is my jam/favorite function. I love your trick to thicken a skinny font. Very clever! ❤❤❤❤❤
Love putting the pen line between colors for the stickers! Really makes it pop😅

Did learn something. Didn’t know you could use pen function and it would print as print then cut when flattened. Yay! Love that look!
The pen outline...just🤯 I really needed that
Wow pen layer before flatten is a game changer. I knew I didn't like to flatten things just didn't know why. Tfs
The offset for fonts is a GAME CHANGER!!!!!! Thank you so much for giving me this idea!!!!
You're so welcome!
I loved this video!

Just unboxed my Cricut last night - videos like this make me excited to jump in and get creating!! Thank you!
I didn't know about the border for print and cut... LOVE it!!!
Omg the out lining of letters etc. !👏🏼
You can also cycle through the grids by clicking the empty small square at the left top of the grid.
Thank you so much. I struggle with design space and never use the layers like you've shown. I'll use them now! And the pen outline was genius 😊
You're welcome!
why would you use weld instead of the other?
Can you show hacks for using an iPad? A lot of these functions don’t work with iOS ☹
You can also change your grid in the top left corner of the canvas... The little square where the y and x columns meet.
Wow! I learned some tips and tricks changing the canvas, the offset on each letter can be changed.
Thanks for watching!
The pen layer is a game changer!!
Love this! Thank you for the tip with the thin offset. It is a game changer! 💜🙌🏽
Very welcome!

I would love a clear tutorial for sizing dots for rhinestone designs.

Sooooo much info did learned a lot here thank you!!!
Awesome video and tips, but I'm still not clear on what offset does and how it will cut out?
Great, some things I forgot and now remember, thanks a lot.
ahhhh thank you for showing where the settings moved. I have been on beta. I don't mind it, but like you said, I couldn't find things and I was searching for UA-cam to tell me things (just like this). :)
Thanks for the video, I have been using DS for a few years now and I still learned a few new tricks.
I liked the pen option before flattening!

Wow, this is a game changer!! Thank you!
You're welcome!

Can you use cricut cut vinyl stickers on wood?
I do. I sand the wood completely smooth then give a couple of coats of varnish before adding the vinyl. On my first attempt, I just added the vinyl to the sanded wood then varnished over the top - that didn't work and the vinyl eventually peeled off 😊
Game changers
love this.
I just got a dell Chromebook and can’t find the correct design space for cricut !😢 Help please
Cricut isn't able to work on a chromebook. So sorry!
I wish cricut would create a way to search for fonts without knowing the name. Specifically, similar fonts are not cricut brands.
OK.. Let me pick my jaw off the floor.. I'm sorry, but making the font a bit bolder is just easy as that?! Like whaaaat?! I have been moaning at myself & DS about the lack of bold option, and yet here you are - telling us the easy way. what happened to SAVE??
I wish and maybe there’s a way and I’m not seeing it. But when you upload a design why does it always have to be print and cut? Because then you’re limited to size and I could just cut it with scissors or whatever.
Are you uploading an SVG? It shouldn't default to print and cut.
Png
It has to be converted into an svg to cut. Pretty much everything else will be print and cuts
