    I remember a tweet of a woman going to bed with everything necessary for a morning shed, and captioning it with something like "Doing all of this because I love myself". Someone responded with "Do you?". I think it sums up this trend quite well.
    Also, how is the "double cleanse" of hair a new trend? I've been doing it since the beginning. It was recommended by all my hairdressers. Once for getting rid of most of the dirt, another time to finish up cleaning and get the effects the shampoo promises (nutrition, hydration, etc). It might not be necessary if you wash your hair everyday, but if you don't, like me, it's a given.

      is shampoo hydrating?? I double cleanse bc I wash my hair once a week, maybe twice. so my hair really does need it, especially if it's saturated in coconut oil

    • @oanafl
      @oanafl 28 днів тому +8

      @@atomiccrouton No one's hair would "shatter like glass" after washing twice, you're exaggerating. Shampoo isn't meant to harm your hair, it just cleans it. Use a conditioner afterwards to get some hydration back into it (maybe that's what you mean, that if you wash it twice and don't hydrate it would break more easily afterwards).

    Former stylist here. It is beneficial for many people to double cleanse their hair. Some women are going 3+ days between shampoos, using products, and using sulfate free products. Most shampoos will not do the trick with a single shampoo these days. It doesn't have to be a process, just use a tiny amount of shampoo initially. Take your time on the second shampoo and RINSE WELL. Every other product you use will work better if your hair is appropriately washed, and 80% of my clients weren't washing well enough.

      @Sacrimony_ Місяць тому +44

      I have fine hair that gets greasy after like 2 or 3 days. I however choose to only wash it every 3 to 4 days. Partly because I'm lazy but also because I've noticed that my fine hair really enjoys the benefits of sebum. It is way healthier now than it was when I used to wash it whenever it would start to get greasy. With that being said, since I'm letting some sebum build up before washing, double shampooing is necessary. With the first one I remove the excess of sebum and with the second one I wash it properly

      I’m confused - are people only doing one wash with shampoo? I thought that shampoo is where the saying “rinse, repeat” comes from. I’ve always shampooed my hair twice per wash. I find that the first wash strips out the oils/products (and so it doesn’t lather as much) and the second one gets out anything I may have missed in the first one. Conditioner after.

    Sleep Technologist here -- Please, Please, Please, Please! DO NOT TAPE YOUR MOUTH AT NIGHT!!!!
    Yes, we are nasal breathers, but if there is something causing us not to breath though our nose, we need to be able to breath through our mouths!
    Yes, snoring can be disruptive to you and bed partners, but snoring means you're at least breathing!
    If your snoring is loud enough that you feel you need to tape your mouth closed to avoid doing it, see an ENT or sleep specialist because you may have sleep apnea and there are safer ways of managing it (and it doesn't always mean CPAP).

    Double shampooing have been advised for a really long time, more specifically if you do not wash your hair everyday, if you are using a shampoo with active, are in your puberty, etc etc. It’s base on very logical arguments I find. Of course it’s not always necessary, and depends on your scalp needs. I’ve personally been exfoliating my scalp with salicylic acid since my teen years(some 30 years ago) and always in a double shampooing method.

I have 4a/4b/3c hair so I don't wash my hair as much as others because my hair doesn't need it but I need to double shampoo to prevent product buildup on my scalp. It just depends on how your hair needs to be cared for.

      My hair is super coiled. I would double shampoo and condition because the first would never penetrate to my scalp because of how tight the coils were. The water literally rolled off like on a duck! It also worked as a deep conditioner without the price tag because I could also use a skin exfoliator without just standing around in the water

    • @SairWithTheHair
      @SairWithTheHair Місяць тому +11

      And if you use a lot of products that could build up. Washing twice a week and using mousse or a root lifter for your blow dry then dry shampoo in between? Yes double shampooing is a great thing to try. Daily washing, where you air dry your hair and wear it without product? Single shampoo will probably be fine.
      It's not just a scam to sell more products and there's objective truth in there.

    I’m a hairdresser and we’ve always double cleansed hair. 1st wash releases the dirt in the hair that’s why you don’t get a good lather, the dirtier the hair then less lather. The 2nd shampoo washes to dirt away and does what it says on the bottle. For example if you have a shampoo for dry hair, the benefit will come from the 2nd cleanse. That’s why when you leave the hairdressers your hair feels super clean!

      Plus Mr Beast making that show a reality, obviously without actually killing people, but a millionaire turning around and saying "haha what a great idea for a show!" Is like.. hello. That's.. what we don't need! That's the opposite of what you should take away from the show.

      Squid Game tangent that got quite long!
      I'm playing Disco Elysium at the moment, and one character makes the point that "capital has the ability to subsume all critiques into itself. Even those who would critique capital end up reinforcing it instead". That sounds like a strength but it's also a huge weakness.
      On the one hand, it's awful seeing the show's entire point being twisted against itself for the sake of consumerism. On the other, the fact that it's become so wildly/widely promoted means it's likely to reach more people than it otherwise would have, so the intended message will get more of a chance to be heard despite everything.
      Capitalism eats the rebellion but the pieces of it are still in there, building up over time. Like microplastics, idk

    Hair vitamins drive me nuts. When I see people say they have taken them for 2 weeks and feel like their hair is more soft and shiny. Not how that works at all. And the companies make massive amounts of money selling stuff that yeah in theory may help but the marketing is ALWAYS deceptive. It actually has to grow out of your head first 😂

    The audacity in saying there is no money in the food (beef) industry. Like the largest beef farming organizations from Brazil (which controls a lot of the beef industry in the US) makes a looooot of money and is one of the biggest threats to the Amazon rainforest. These types of products have been around since before the 30/40s, still trying to bank on someone's insecurity of themselves. The most helpful thing for your appearance is a fulfilling sleep. Frownies, neck and chin shaping masks, nose slimmers, anti-wrinkle straws, side-sleeper pillows, eye masks, mouth tape ect. Please just eat healthy and rest your body. i’m abt to be 29 and still get hormonal acne & generally have oily skin. i use micellar water as 1st cleanser, +gentle foaming cerave dupe for wash at night. hydrating milky toner OR salicylic acid pad, my thicc ponds dry skin cream, sunscreen.

    Just wanted to drop in a little info as a future hairstylist in cosmo school, double shampooing is great for targeting non-damaged oily hair, dandruff caused by hair products or just women who use a lot of products and are prone to product buildup on scalp. and in a styling perspective it gives more volume by removing just that extra bit of oil the second time. Double shampooing would not be recommended (at least by me) for damaged hair, fine hair, dry/brittle hair, hair that is not naturally excessively oily, or hair that is already washed regularly. Ofc I’m not the messiah of hair but I do like to double shampoo after toning my hair/ any chemical process as well, it can be harsh on hair but it’s even harsher to leave remnants of active chemicals. I watch all your videos and it’s actually helped my skin so much!! ❤

    I agree on most parts of this but double shampooing is actually really beneficial if you use a lot of products (heat spray, dry shampoo, curl cream, etc) and wash your hair every couple of days. While people do go a bit over the top with a 20 step hair care routine, I had incredibly damaged hair from dying and heat styling and creating a haircare routine has massively improved the health and appearance of my hair. For me I use a pre shampoo oil, wait at least 30 mins, then double shampo, bond repair if I have time, hair mask, conditioner and leave in conditioner when I'm out of the shower and when its dry, a tint bit of oil. It might sound excessive to some but my hair was so brittle and damaged and now its much softer and stronger. I don't need to use a bond repair product every wash anymore because I was dilligent with it for months and genuinely think it did repair my hair.

These days, he hides from the sun like a vampire. Even on vacation in Florida. He was under an umbrella or in the shade the whole time.

Ive got depression and probably wash my hair maybe once a week 🙈. Double washing with the same shampoo really helps. But i know everyone is different. I was going to say, I and sure the first it to start lifting dirt/oil and the second is to clean. I think it's normally X2 as you should also not be using as much product when doing each step.. which I am sure we are all guilty of!
      Equally, I agree it's stupid to treat hair and and skin as the same thing. It's a totally different thing. A bit like using a cracked heel cream on your face. It just won't do what you want it to do, even though both technically moisturise.

I don't and never have had an issue with my hair, so why am I thinking about changing it? And I think people have to approach these sorts of things. Like, your skin is perfect, then don't mess with it. Hair good, don't mess with it. Forgrt trends

    I like to sleep on my back, but I was having migraines and went to a neurologist at UCLA. He told me that for several reasons related to the brain and the heart, he would never sleep on his back. I’m in my thirties too, so I slept on my back to avoid shoulder pain, but they told me to use a cylinder shaped pillow full of organic beads that fills in the hollow of the neck when sleeping on my side. It has helped tremendously and I have no neck or back pain. It might be worth looking up 😊

    what is crazy about the morning shed is that there is no way they get a full night's sleep - which there is nothing more "wrinkle" smoothing than 9 hrs of uninterrupted sleep. So that is what I use, more precisely 10 hrs of sleep (next to peptides and retinal for the night at age 38 - looking like 25 according to other people, I cannot say I agree, but this is what they think) Beef talo: just use vaseline ffs.

    Great video, I disagree on the double shampooing however. As someone with a really oily scalp it has helped me get rid of buildup more effectively and now I can even go 1-2 days without washing my hair. This has been impossible since before my teenage years. Obviously it's not something I do every time and I don't use giant amounts of product for each wash, but it can definitely help!
