People feeling sorry for me in bad weather, when it's my own choice. 😂 8 miles to work, loving it. A lot of hills and snow, rain and wind. My old job was 12 miles from home. 3 speeder ca 1980 is my daily driver. Been doing it for years. One less car, good for everyone!
They think I'm a superhero for cycling to work , a 10 mile round trip! Most people in the UK now are so conditioned to driving anywhere door to door they can't envisage the actual low to moderate level of exertion needed for bike commuting.
I biked to work in Phoenix 8 miles through the desert to Sperry Flight Systems, then in South Florida 8 miles to IBM in Boca Raton Florida, then in Fort Worth 12 miles to Motorola and I think my co-workers in all of those places over all of those years would have been shocked to see me on anything but a bicycle.
Now I am 76 and retired living just to the East of you... and I am known for my bicycling.
The nighttime is the right time.
I wish I could commute using my bicycle but unfortunately I live 30 miles from where I work. Kudos to those that can bike to work. Be safe
I've gotten different reactions to my e-bike commute from co-workers. One of them also bikes, and a few of them walk, because they don't have cars. The walkers are jealous of my bike, and I've been encouraging them to get their own. The drivers, though, they have a hard time understanding my decision, especially in the wintertime. They don't realize that it's actually easy and comfortable to ride in the winter if you're properly dressed, so when I arrive at work they treat me like I just swam there through the lake naked.
I have not owned a vehicle for 9 years and commute everyday regardless of weather. The only time coworkers say anything is when it's 5 degrees and snowing like no ones business. Then I get called crazy, stupid, mental extra. The best is when they offer you a ride and say no. You can physically see them trying to comprehend it.
Yes I bike to work every day, 14 miles each way, and my co-workers thinks I'm insane especially when the weather gets bad. As long as there's not a foot of snow on the roads and it's plowed, I'm riding. I've ridden in rain, snow, sleet, hail, icy roads and tornado siren blaring in town. Only a few have bikes and they're e-bikes (rolls eyes.) At least they haven't complained about my b.o. hehe. When I first started bike commuting to work, I locked my bike outside the building and it got stolen so some of my co-workers chipped in and gave me $300 which went towards a Schwinn hybrid bike. I still have that bike but have better rides now and no e-bikes here.
There isn't really any others that bike to work at my place of work. My commute on the bike is about 3.5 miles each way. In my opinion it's way better than getting mixed up in all the 3pm traffic. Most of my coworkers think I'm just nuts for doing it which I find to be very odd. But then again lots of people do very little physical activity. My favorite bike to ride to work is my fatbike! I bike 3.2 miles one way to work everyday. On my mountain bike or gravel bike
And my co works think it's not at all safe . And alway give me a hard time for it !

There's bike sheds at work and there were those who commuted by cycling before I started. Most are fair weather cyclists who ride spring/summer and some of autumn. Some ride daily others one or a few alternating days a week. There's beeen the odd bike chat. Some noticed I'm an all weather daily commuter. When I moved jobs I also got to check out the secure work bike shed before I started. A few there cycle commute too. One got bike and started her cycle commute after she noticed me zooming by whilst she had a long walk many mornings.
My co-workers are shocked to see me bike to work and from work every day.

Now I work from home so I don't have to commute to work, when I used to do it no one would bat an eye hahaha, I don't think they ever knew I commuted by bike since I don't sweat that much if it wasn't by the fact that I would put my folding bike under my desk.
I also would always encourage my best friend at work who lived like 4Km away from the office but he never did it because he was afraid of getting into an accident.
A few are worried, but most are proud of me for it.
None of my co workers are bike commuters. My co-workers that know that I ride a bicycle to work don't really care.

Other than always getting ride offers in bad weather, i dont think any one has an opinion of it.

A coworker offered to borrow me money so that I could buy a car. When I tried to convince him that I commute by bike because I enjoy it, he tried to give me his 15-year-old Nissan Micra.
