- Suomessa kendoa on harjoitettu vuodesta 1986 lähtien. Suomessa oli vuoden 2009 lopussa yli 1000 kendōn harjoittajaa ja yhteensä 23 kendo-seuraa 20. paikkakunnalla. Lisäksi Suomen kendoseurojen keskusliittoon (FKA) kuuluu viisi iaido-seuraa, joissa ei harjoitella kendōta. Suomen kendoseurojen keskusliitto ry on SLU:n jäsen.

うわ～。感動しますね！非常に真剣に学ぼうとしている。その努力のエッセンスにおいては、日本人以上に優れたものを感じる。丁度、仏教を驚くべき情熱とエネルギーで摂取してきた欧米人のほうが、伝統に甘えて実は何もわかっていない日本人より遥かに優れた理解と実践を行ってているようなものだ。
世界の人々は、おそらく日本に限らず、他国の良いものをどんどん学び、楽しみ、自分のものにしようという意思がありますね。それに比べて、最近の日本は、文部科学省が旗を振る「日本凄いぞ論」に乗っかる人々、日本人が持つアジアの名誉白人的なアイデンティティに捕らわれてる人が多くて、若干、内向きな感じがします。
かつては日本人も、海外へ留学する人が多くいましたが、最近はエリートでも少ないですね。行っても新自由主義的な経済学、金融学ばかりで、文化、芸術は勿論のこと、基礎科学への関心も減少しているように思えます。
衰退とはこういう事でしょう。経済的状況とあらゆる衰退は、お互いに影響しあう、とも言えますし、お互いに影響しないとも言えます。パラレルな関係です。
それに仏教も、はじめからグローバルなものでした。道元なんかの書も、そういった中で書かれたもので、極東の島国のオリエントな知ではないのです。ドゥルーズが引用するくらいですから。なんでもそうですが、「なになに」人が、書や武道、人文科学、化学に向き合うのではなく、「人」が向き合うのです。はじめから国籍など微々たる問題です。
In Japan a famous kendo man said “if you want to be competitive in kendo, start as earlier as you can. Since tip of sword is so fast, you have to accumulate basic moves as many as possible.”
I think kendo exposes one’s diligence and fortitudes more than any sports.
@@skrettsnerk508 kendo used to be a sword duel practice as everyone know, there should be many direction of improvements to archive. I think the quote is suggesting that speed of sword tip is overwhelming human reflexes more than other sports. You may concentrate in single moment in other sports but in kendo that moment comes extremely frequent.
That’s the reason accumulation of standards speaks louder than the other i think.
On the other hand being discipline and growing internal self by sword duel origine martial arts is something exceptional in late 30s.

Kendo also trains the spirit.

The way of the "Budo” is something that lasts a lifetime.
A match is just a match, and victory is not the end all and goal.
Budo, you have to beat yourself before you beat your opponent.
This is what Japanese "Budo" is all about, not only in kendo techniques, but also in all aspects of life and training to improve one's soul.
The highest level of training in Budo is to "win without fighting.
The essence of Budo is to apply one's soul, honed through Budo training, to one's entire life and to make everyone involved happy.
Such deep training is what makes a true seeker and budoka.
