    I love how fresh so many of his later albums sound. Tony was always moving forward with his music and making it sound so effortless.

    I was in my 20's when I met this wonderful drummer from Africa. He approached me after my set on stage. He offered me a lead kit playing spot in his African band. He saw something in me that I didn't see. He thought that I could learn afro rhythm quick. Let's say it was a learning process, unlike no other I've had to over come. I still sound American when I play, but it's become my own sound.

    Such great grooves! ...Just heard the track Home Cookin' on a news and current affairs radio show on the CBC in Canada called "As It Happens". They were talking about frozen vs home made pizza. :) Then... that killer track by Tony and a great band played through the airwaves. Still groovin' and have it on repeat. I'm a fan!

      +aaron kennedy- i recently listened to "taking tiger mountain by strategy" again after maybe 20 years or so - last time i found it horrible and wondered how i ever could have liked it - now i said: wow, way cool, the fine, sometimes bizarre, fantasy enhancing lyrics, the brittle sound a.s.o. - i call brain eno the bestest brian eno in the world, haha...
      btw. comparison is the thief of self worth - i love ringo with the beatles...

      @@ChristophC999 hmmm, i couldn´t say, there´s at least "another green world" (which could be mine, where he worked with phil collins, another fave drummer for sure), "onland", the softer side of "before and after science", and the bob fripp side "an index of metals" from "evening star"... :-)
      i´m always having difficulties with spotting faves, because there are too many - i love variety and i´m thankful that we have such a vast variety of different music in the world and thankful for youtube to give us acces to music like this...

      @@friesiamans1966 Right! Not really my favs but Tiger Mountain, Warm Jets and Green World is "some of my favorites". Morning Star is amazing! Music for Airports is something I've got to be in the right mood for.

    • @friesiamans1966
      @friesiamans1966 4 роки тому

      @@ChristophC999 oh, most of these need the right mood - "discreet music" ( i never really listened to the bach side, but the other took me away more than once, haha)...
      and i also like "ambient techno" - found a channel full of well selected special editions - my two faves so far:
      ua-cam.com/video/-wyi0MxlAqM/v-deo.html
      ua-cam.com/video/uMGFADIeAtA/v-deo.html
      the first one i like to listen to when driving, the last one i didn´t listened too closely yet, but what i heard so far i liked a lot and i´ll soon put that in my car stereo - i like it not too loud, but with enough bass, haha...
      edit: just listened to a bit of "feral" - imagine: it´s a live performance! he´s got an enormous good timing, no? i´m in awe - how do these guys get all that together in one moment, incredible...
      thank you... :-)
