    One of the 17 reasons I want her to succeed is bc if she can make a significant comeback after 8 years of retirement and only training 3 days a week, it might show USAG that they don't have to work their gymnasts to the bone and retire them once the hit 23. That in combination with the fact that athletes returning from quarantine didn't lose that much ground could hopefully change some of the culture

    • @nathanielhalls1893

    So this is what I like: after all the negative things that have happened with Nassar, USA Gymnastics, Karolyis, etc., here is a strong woman, a mom, an athlete. Although I’d love to see her compete and kick some younger butt, this is a woman of her own mind. She can do what she wants. She’s no longer a young girl who is vulnerable to predators who seek out this situation and take advantage of it. The sport of gymnastics is so beautiful but it’s been sullied by the events of the last few years. This journey is not that. Bravo to all of those inspired by Chellsie to return to the gym or to dust off their sports equipment and start again, whether elite, NCAA, or recreational athlete. Or even beginner! But I especially feel for the high level gymnast who put so many hours in the gym to give it up in the late teens and early twenties.

    The funny thing is, her DTY is GOOD. Especially for throwing only 2 in MORE than a decade. Is it the best? No. But it's not sloppy, she doesn't land low and she gets more height and distance than a lot of the World Class gymnasts out there. This journey is impressing me so much.

    ok....so I live in a town with no big gym anywhere nearby so gymnastics was never really "an option" a few years ago I tried to self teach myself but soon realized that was a very unrealistic goal, having no equipment or background information. so I stopped trying...watching these videos have made me realize that nothing is impossible and today I started to ease myself into a few cartwheels and very bad walkovers...so thank you Chellsie for the motivation, and to you keep going!!! I love watching you!!!

      Its so cool to see isnt it? Its like she has gained a better perspective mebtally and physically with age and life experience and she kind of understands things from an different POV now because of the maturity and self possession she has. Its such a different dynamic than most elite gymnasts and it is so interesting to see. She has a deeper understanding of her body and her mind and what she is capable of because she has lived in her body longer. I am really enjoying this series! Go Chell!

    Chellsie, you are an inspiration to moms - that we can be healthy and athletic after having kids. I am finally getting back into my running (my passion) after some pelvic floor issues. Physical therapy and healthy eating help so much. I would love to hear you talk about what your favorite healthy foods are that support your training. I’ve noticed candy makes things go downhill really quick! A treat in moderation on special occasions is ok, but I can’t eat that stuff everyday.

    • @ChellsieMemmel23
      @ChellsieMemmel23 4 роки тому +1

      Yes we can! That is so awesome, glad you are getting back to running. I have a much better relationship with food now but am a pretty plain eater in general. Oatmeal/eggs for breakfast usually. My favorite snack lately has been greek yogurt with cinnamon, chia seeds, granola and pecans. I agree with the sugar, I had more than I usually do last week and I could feel a difference.

    The thing about the phrase, "it's like riding a bike" is that you still remember how to do it but if it has been a decade or two since you've ridden you are inevitably going to wobble a bit when you first climb back on but Chellsie nails a difficult and scary vault like she's been warming it up for a decade rather than the opposite.
