KidRiver The miners are receiving only 2.413% of the gross markup. Less than 3%. For the amount of work they’re doing. They should at least make 15% (About $621,540 USD). Gem cutters make salary, about $36,000 in the US. The company just cashed in profit.
If I'm ever in a situation where I'm trying to sell something that I know the value of and someone says that to me, the transaction will end right there.
My question is if you could see that the opal looked to be running from long end to long end, what would possess you to cut ACROSS it??? Doing so almost guaranteed that you'd cut THROUGH any large pieces, decreasing their value immensely. Which is EXACTLY what you did! Nah this isnt diamonds. Alot of people dont get opal or how its valued. It isnt cut up into many pieces. A single opal is a single opal regardless of size. Not all opal is supposed to be cut and polished down into perfect shapes like diamond. All opals are different and irregular shapes. Most opals in their finished final polished forms even still consist of boulder. Not all opal is for wearing some is ornamental. Hence why opal is the most complex complicated stone to value.
