  • When I tell you my finger smashed the "order now" button--apparently there's a fragmentary translation of the Aeneid by C.S. Lewis that he was working on all throughout his life. It's a rhyming version in 12-syllable Alexandrine lines, and you KNOW I had to do a review of it. Here are my thoughts, as well as a little more on Lewis's theory of epic and his lifelong relationship with Rome's greatest narrative poem.

I enjoyed your thoughts on Lewis’s translation so very much, Spencer. Thank you so much for sharing. For me, as a writer myself, it gives me a sense of intimacy with the great authors to see their unfinished work. It feels relatable to me- so this author whom I cherish wrote crappy first drafts and made mistakes and felt his way through a work just as I am doing? And from these humble beginnings came the great work that I love so much? The process is the same for all of us and I can persevere. That’s what the unfinished works of great authors says to me.

Love the show so much ofc but this mic sucks or something. Your mic in the other studio is so much better. I listen to the show out loud my car and this episode was almost unbearable to listen to bc of the feedback. Idk if this is something you can address but the audio has not been like this before (at least not in the recent years)
