Loved the little anthony montage, getting frustrated because of the back panel :D
Pro-tip: You can get better deals with barebone or motherboard, cpu, ram combos on ebay. >_> I spilled the beans.
What do you mean by barebone?
@@Mavis847 Generally speaking, a barebones kit is a case and a few components (eg., motherboard, cpu, and power supply) but won't come with an hard drive or maybe memory. Its meant to get you a base so you can pick the components you would want to spend more on to upgrade anyway
@@Mavis847 Barebone is a term that refers to a preselected mix of parts. Typically with some key parts not included (like a gpu). Barebones PC's typically include a case, motherboard and power supply - sometimes ram, sometimes a cpu.

Well don't forget free shipping, when you buy off amazon for example you don't always get free shipping, so even if it's priced lower you can sometimes end up still paying more than buying it off ebay.

The 980ti has kept a high value because it's the last graphics card (excluding the Titan X Maxwell) to have a Analog out via DVI. A lot of retro enthusiasts who still use high end CRT monitors are still buying them.
The 1660ti has dvi outputs though. Mid end cards will probably still come with them.
@@C4CH3S yes but it's a digital dvi outup only aka dvi-d. Look up dvi-i vs dvi-d. The 4 extra pins on dvi-i carry the analog signal.
samysnes meh. Around here you buy the latest generation of graphics card because they fucking never drop ;_; I tried to put togheter a similar setup and the 1070 ti is (the cheapest one!) 400 euro. Now, the 1660 ti is only 290, and that's great value because... it's the same price as the 1060. I hate shopping for video cards.
Displayport to VgA adapter?
Adam Musgrove - It’s digital though. The 980Ti sends analog signal. It’s a CRT thing.

9:00 been there done that. Large part of the reason I went through 8 hard drives in my xp emachine was I kept putting $20 used Maxtors from ebay in. I finally found a new old stock Western Digital 250 GB drive and it has been in it for over three years now of heavy use.

8:26 So the eBay option was more expensive than normal stores?
Yeah, I noticed the cooler and the SSD showed them paid more.
Harmkees 03 my guess is they just looked up good deals on eBay and it turns out that they were cheaper elsewhere
I mean.... that sorta makes sense considering that people/companies selling on ebay need to pay upto 10% in ebay fees plus upto 4% on PayPal fees. Plus the SSD wasn't even bought used from some random seller, it was new from a genuine company that was selling on ebay. If that company had their own website, chances are the SSD would have been cheaper buying direct from the companies site rather than through ebay.

a seller with 91.7% feedback for that case is a no no, which is prolly why it was packaged so bad... you want people with at a minimum 98% :)
It Also Depends If They Only Have Like 20 Review's...
Then 92% Is Just A Couple Bad Reviews!
Owen Dillingham well you just gotta hope it’s not fake reviews
Not just the feedback percentage but the tiny amount of feedback, I'd almost never buy a pc part on ebay from someone with just 20 feedback (and that includes feedback as a seller and as a buyer)
@@SickBuckNaStY It also depends on the person that gave the feedback, it's not uncommon to see negative feedback for some pretty ridiculous reasons like "I ordered this right before christmas and it arrived late 0/5" while I'm sitting here thinking "No shit..." so if it's at a good price, maybe look at why they got the feedback before writing them off.
eBay ratings are all bullshit anyways, I pay no attention to them. If your seller didn't do a perfect job and you wanted to rate them 4/5 stars, well that is considered "negative feedback" so people just end up rating them 5 stars instead or else they whine. Unlike Amazon where you aren't expected to rate people or products perfect unless they actually are.

Not gonna lie eBay's my best friend. When I got my tax return and finally could stomach building a new rig for the first time after ~5-6 years, even then I turned to eBay even when I had thousands I could spend on budget. It's just such a great money saver. Honestly don't know exactly how much I saved going with used like new components off eBay versus brand new off NewEgg, but I know it was a sizeable chunk. Plus I'm just a nut for great deals
The RAM is probably a "3rd shift" make. No ID to trace = no evidence of the "3rd shift"
I agree that seems most likely
Gotta love china
What does 3rd shift mean?
@@suilenroc4997 there are two shifts normally, a day and afternoon one and the factory is supposed to be closed at night since people gotta rest and go home. Frankenstein-PCs from used parts are the most fun to watch builds of 👍
The benefit is that the builder "understands" his/her PC from the start....
I know it would take forever but I would really like to see a video where you guys actually watch auctions and try to get the absolute lowest price on an ebay pc. Auctions that end on weekdays especially during work hours can get you some surprising deals.
9:10 bad sectors can be fixed and drives can be brought back to health with HDD regenerator (in Hiren's BootCD) but yes, If you're buying a drive don't go with used. If someone gives you a free drive that's "broken" because it has some bad sectors, try to regenerate it. Bad sectors can be repaired, delays in read time are harder to deal with but those could go away if you can reverse enough sector damage... anyway, this has nothing whatsoever to do with the video here, but a point I wanted to bring up because it's nerdy
