Haha “yeah Coop and his audience don’t even lift!”
Haha more of just for that video, would liked to have seen some squats or heavier loads!
Sharpest I’ve used were kabuki bars when I compete. Couldn’t justify getting something like this for only PRs, but I do like the more aggro knurling. Would love a review on the 2x to see how it compares.
I'll see what I can do.
I'd like to see a comparison video between the iron skull from Bare Steel (Iron cowboy at Elite) vs the Aggro 2 and 3 bars
It does look pretty aggressive from what I've seen, kind of like an aggro 2.5x. The pattern looks like my Kabuki DL bar knurl. We will see!
I second this
I completely agree with you…basements are better! Great review man.
Thanks Big Marcus
Got the 2x as soon as I saw it. Daily driver for me. Knurling will wake you up but not hurt you.
Thanks for the insight!
When you get the 2X, I'd like to hear how the knurling compares to the Rep Deep Knurl, which is one of my favorite bars.
I have the nunchucks which has the 2x knurling and the Rep Deep Knurl. I was completely spoiled by the knurling of the 2x after using the nunchucks. It's not even a comparison. The "Deep" Knurl used to feel amazing. I literally felt Rep's bar after the 2x and it felt like a smooth stone. It's not even in the same ball park any more. Don't get me wrong, I still use and love my Rep bar. But there is no comparison, 2x feels much better than Rep's
Will do. I really like the EX as well.
Rogue OPB SS is my daily as well, but variety is the spice of life so I'm interested in the Aggros. Nice review!
Preaching to the choir!
Great review! I have a regular Ohio Power Bar in stainless steel which is plenty aggressive for me, but I would consider giving the 2x a try. I have my eyes on some specialty bars before I get another power bar though.
Yeah same here! I have way too many power bars!
This is my favorite bar! I actually sold my 2x because I felt like more aggressive knurling would be even better tbh
awesome!
Have you looked into trying to remove the cerakote? I have a hard time imagining anyone would prefer the look of these bars over a plain version. I get the feeling it was probably just added to visual differentiate the bars.
I haven't. It doens't really impact anything since it's not on the part you grip, but I do agree I think it would look better without.
Had a feeling the 3x was too sharp for daily use, from everything I hear about the 2x, hoping that may be the sweet spot. But I am holding out hopes for that American BB project you have teased...
The AB bars have the denser pattern, so will def not be as sharp feeling. I like a chunkier knurl personally (like the Rogue style).
Great review, thanks for the info!
Thanks for taking a look!
does a magnet stick to this barbell?? Asking this bcoz want to know what type of steel has been used in it like if Austentic is used then magnet wont stick as contains less iron and if ferritic used then magnet will stick as more iron. Plz try this sometime if u have not and let me know.
It sticks
@@BasementBrandon thanks for letting me know .
Brandon this makes me so happy
Problem is, I just don’t find a regular Ohio PB in ss to be aggresivd enough. The Rep Deep Knurl was cool and all but another let down
I’m 6’3 too and we lift about the same weights on the big 3. Where do I go from here if I’m wanting more aggressive knurl?
Only you would know, I value your opinions highly
Thanks man
I have yet to use the 2x, but based off look it seems less sharp than the REP EX. Maybe just go full 3x and punish yourself?
@@BasementBrandon
Hey maybe it’s what I need after all? 😂 some self punishment
why does it have the thick collars and not the competition ones that the normal OPB has
Normal OPB is the 45lbs version. The 20kg with thin collars is the variant.
That walkout tho! NL on & no Olys, MY HERO 💘 I also think Ohio Power is pretty passive and the Ohio Bar is super smooth too. Grey man’s Bar I prefer over Ohio and Soniex Power over Ohio Power (speaking for deadlifts). I want 3x now tho 🙌 (I probably should get 2x tho)
Appreciate the kind words and feedback!
Do they use regular knurling at USAPL sanctioned meets?
depends on the bar they use. Most meets by me use an Eleiko power bar, others use OPB, but have seen a lot of differences.
Gosh finally an opinion on this bar that is valid! Just kidding but I have been curious about your opinion on this one man. Great breakdown.
I appreciate it!
Insightful review. All of us soft handies can tolerate an aggressive knurl with only 135 on the bar. But I’d be leery of tearing skin - or at the least dreading painful training -- if I frequently used the 3x knurl with heavy loads.
It’s telling that the strongest powerlifters aren’t clamoring for bars with super aggressive knurls in gyms or meets. I suspect they know that to stay healthy and competitive, you need to avoid ripping calluses and bruising your skin.
I do think there's a point of diminishing returns. This bar is sharp, but not to the point you can't use it, but most would prob just not prefer to given the choice.
They glue glass shards or knives to a shaft?
Pretty much
Solid squats, especially at your body weight!
not dead yet!
@@BasementBrandon Strong work. Looks to be low-bar too. I love my Kabuki bar for squatting.
Brandon vs Coop boxing match plz
Different weight classes. I think Coop mentioned he's like 165 right now. I'm 220.
I dont understand who this is for...masochists? My BoS bare steel bar gives my palms a run for its money benching as it is. i cant imagine holding literal knives while trying not to decapitate myself under heavy weight
There's always a "sharper the better crowd". So it will def sell, but more for enthusiasts IMO
first!!! HG discord represent
Yessir!
I’m just here for Coop slander. Jk great review Brandon! I’ve got softy hands, can’t see myself enjoying the Aggro bars.
It's a nice novelty for me, but don't find I'm drawn to use it.
Brandon is a man. Coop is a mouse.
I only joke b/c I love.
@@BasementBrandon We know
Well, if you leaned on it with your silky soft feminine forearms, I have to question just how aggro it is... 🤔🤔🤔 (Edit: Which you ended up mentioning at 2:13 LOL!)
:)
Great review.
1) you are the luckiest person when it comes to getting grab bag.
2) Coop has soft hands because he is reviewing all AI gym equipment.
3) I used a 2x and it was sharp but I enjoyed it. It reminded me of the first time I used a TX power bar with virgins lifting hands. Haha.
Lol’d at point 2
I have the Aggro 2x which I believe is the best version of the OPB. It replaced my previous OPB. The original isn't aggressive enough, and although I didn't get a chance to feel the X3, I'd imagine it's similar in feel to the ISF deadlift bar I owned, and that knurl was too much for a daily driver, so that's how I made my choice for the X2. No RAGRETS
Agreed. 2x is dang near perfect
Me too, best grippy/sharp bar. Way better than the 3x
Will have to see if I can get my hands on it.
Got one too, one of the best bars I own
Been waiting for this, would love to see the 2x bar review 👍Thanks for the vids
Will see what I can do
Please try out the 2x Aggro bar! Very curious about that one!
I’ve got a 2x. Have used a zinc OPB, bare steel Texas Power Bar, and bare steel OPB and I love the 2x. Definitely aggressive but it is my daily driver.
The Aggro 2x is my daily driver, I find the knurling perfect.
I'll see what I can do!
So what would your recommendation be for someone who wants an aggressive knurl but a daily use bar. Curious on the rep deep knurl vs the aggro 2
There are a lot of bars out there that could fit this. The REP Power Bar EX is great. They had a sale earlier this year for like $300 shipped, which is a steal for a SS bar. It's sharp, but the points are a bit blunted compared to the precise peaks on this aggro bar (at least they were on mine). I have a video review on it.
Really nice video (as always)… I used the 2x last night for Pendlay Rows right into the 3x for Bench…. I really like them both but would agree with you that for most the 2x is a great middle ground. 💪🏼
You got a great deal!
Finally, really finally, other than coop reviewed this bar , thank you 👍😁
Haha love me some Coop!
Definitely gonna put the Aggro 3 on the wish list. Awesome review 👍
Thanks for taking a look!
Out of curiosity, how much more aggressive is the knurling on the 3x in comparison to the rogue squat bar?
I don’t find the squat bar sharp at all. It’s similar to the regular SS OPB to me.
@@BasementBrandon I got build up my hands bro 😅
Straight up calling out Coop for not deadlifting heavy enough! If I remember correctly he's got video of him pulling 600 so nothing to sneeze at.
Coop is the strongest human in the world. My point was more just with his aggro video he never loaded more than 135lbs and only showed deadlift.
@@BasementBrandon, if we're being completely fair to Coop, he actually used the Rogue deep dish 100s in that video, so his deadlifts were 245.
@@meanpie13 good catch, problem with those DD is they all look like hundos lol
Maybe dumb question but Where do I sign up for grab bags with rogue ?
Yeah when do they show up on site?? I’d like to see it at least once before I die 😂
You can't. It's really luck of the draw!
The shots at Coop 😂
I'll always be a Coop supporter, just need to rib him here and there.
I have never been lucky enough to be on Rouge's site when they've offered the grab bag.
I wasn't for this one, I bought it 2nd hand at a price between grab bags and retail.
I had a trap bar at my gym and dude that thing was so sharp it was down right unpleasant to train with it just dug straight into my hand I enjoy a decent knurl but that had no reason being that sharp dunno what kind it was seemed like a cheapie tbh
Yeah it's random like that sometimes!
@@BasementBrandon I just got the again faster bar so I’m super excited I got it for like 100 bucks off retail for 185 although I can’t seem to find any reviews of it anywhere of the power bar in particular
I’m such a badass that I epoxied 20 grit sandpaper around my entire bar. 😎
My one rep max on straight bar curls immediately increased 5 pounds. Can’t argue with those results. 🤨
Haha nice
Good video, makes me curious to feel the bar, but not so much as to go pick one up. Thanks B
Come give her a rip
How’s the cheese grader on the shins for those sumo guys? Maybe more for swats then deads.?
Ouch, I cant imagine.
Nice review! How many times did you squat with it before the Phoenix tattoo appeared?
It used to be a full back piece actually
Some of the sharpest knurling I ever felt was on a Smith machine of all things. I hated it.
Prob b/c no one used it and kept it fresh :)
I finally upgraded my Rep bar for a Rogue Stainless Ohio Power Bar on the November sale. Man what an incredible upgrade that I wasn’t expecting. I can’t imagine how aggressive the knurling is on this bar. The Standard Ohio ripped my hands at 430 pound dead’s.
That was a sweet deal on the SS OPB
I have the SS OPB and the chan 1.2 bar which has the SS with cerakote. Rather content with those. Although they have just released the agro in Australia and I am super tempted to get the 2x.. definitely don’t need it though. But no home gym owner ‘needs’ most things..
Some great bars!
I never understood the need for more agressive knurling. Any benefit you get in grip will be cancelled out by possible ripping ur hands, which will make ur grip be worse than it was to begin with.
Yes I do think there's a point of diminishing returns.
I squat in a tank top sometimes and I don't think that would be a great time with this bar. I've earned enough scrapes on my delts from a regular ohio powerbar.
Yeah prob a bit much!
Thanks for the review going through the various lifts!
Yessir!
If you had to use one bar what would you buy
Rogue SS OPB
The most aggressive bar ive used is the kabuki powerbar which is my favorite and one of the bars i use the most. Ohio powerbar i would consider as one of my other favorites. I mat consider a x2 at some point tho.
My Kabuki is nice, but feels passive compared to this one.
It's more marketing. I've seen a few people whose knurl has flattened out after just one use.
@@cakeeater2368 the knurl on the kabuki wont wear down at least. Mine is messing up my metal roller jcups with no signs of wear and tear.
@@BasementBrandon 3X?
Hey Brandon,
what would you say is currently the best SS Powerbar available when money isn´t a factor? I´m living in Europe so Hansu is unfortunately no option for me :(
I still think the Rogue bars offer the most value. Now that they have the standard OPB, 2x, and 3x, you can pretty much pick your preference in aggressiveness.
@@BasementBrandon thanks for the fast reply. Would you say the New eleiko Training bar is superior to the 2x Aggro bar?
@@djclementine Knurling-wise the Eleiko is more passive than a standard OPB.
Best grab bag barbell yet!! Nice score buddy. "Another reason not to pull sumo" 🤣 Thanks for the review buddy.
So someone else got it out of the grab bag and I bought it from them at a marked up price, but still better than retail!
@@BasementBrandon Your Coop clip almost had me crying.😂 It was too much.. This video get's 10/10 for comedy relief!
This might be a dumb question. I normally use versa grip on my hands before lifting and no issues about how sharp it is but apart from sharpeness , overall use for lifting (bench/squat/shoulder press/rows) will this work? I am looking to buy one Rogue bar for my home gym which can be used for all and i see in Facebook marketplace now for 250$ a good deal as its like brand new. Can you please give me your suggestion
Are you sure it's an aggro 3 bar? They go for around $600 new and even used routinely cost $400 or so. Maybe it's just an ohio power bar?
Iron Wolf barbells which were made by a former employee of York use to be brutal I heard. I think Mark Bell said he had one of their squat bars and he couldn’t use it because it shredded his back lol. They looked awesome but we’re $1200 each so unfortunately they went out of business.
I was lucky enough to use one in a comp before. I’ve seen some pics of ones people still have and the k irking doesn’t seem as bad as I recall. I think I’ve become numb to it now lol.
do you think it would be more beneficial if it was thicker like the fubar, tax your grip and also make you work so much harder off the ground , I got the barbell its amazing but it would be nice if it was thicker to challenge me more off the floor
I don't think so since this is supposed to be a power bar. Seems you'd like an axel.
Hey bud . Why did you decide to sell your ss Ohio power bar ?
Mostly b/c I had a friend who wanted/needed one and I planned on upgrading
I get ya" would you still say the rogue squat bar is your favorite? Been eyeing thar one down for a while. Prob good for bench to I was thinking..
I miss my SS OPB. Have been thinking of grabbing another one (or maybe an Aggro 2x). The only thing that has spoiled me is my 20LPI (lines per inch) aggressive American Barbell bar I have now. I need to do a video on that. The Rogue Squat bar is still fantastic, although I've only been using a power bar for squats as they don't use one in the USAPL meets I've been doing so it doesn't get as much use.
Just got to try this bar out for heavy singles and i definitely felt it more on my hands then on my back.had to switch bars for back down sets
Appreciate the feedback!
Great review as usual! Lifts look good too. Like many I have the OPB (and I don't think it's that aggressive) but would consider the 2x Aggro. If I couldn't do a full work out with the 3x Aggro I don't think I'd spend that much money on it for occasional use. Thanks for the info. As I've said previously, you've helped me make several decisions on lifting gear/equipment. Truly appreciated.
Appreciated! I think the normal OPB is perfect, but we'll see if my mind changes if I get my hands on the 2x!
beautiful looking bar but... my delicate hands...
Lube them up with your tears and blood from this one!
You look great, especially as a natural, love it, balls deep Mr.Diamond
Not dead yet
I have the og in black zinc. Still pretty sharp. I love it. My friends complain about it. Lol
Was the first one I had too!
How's it compare to barenaked 2.0
Love that bar. Super sharp
Makes it feel like a toy.
Jesus I did not expect you to be that strong. Nice review and even better lifts man!
Haha thanks man
B Dogg 🔥💯🔥
my dude
How does the knurling on this compare to ISF?
This is sharper than the ISF Power Bar I had. That one wasn't full mountains.
In Australia this bar costs $950 plus postage - don't think it will be too popular.
Damn
Brandon really said " do you even lift? Brah." To coop hahah
I just say that b/c he's stronger than me.
🤣😂😎
How does it compare to the knurl of the Rogue Westside Bar?
I'm not sold that the WPB is any different than a standard OPB.
Coop and those soft hands! 😂
Have to poke the bear
Now mount it on your wall or ceiling for us as a pull-up bar for "storage".
Dont put it past me!
I’ll let you know how the 2X goes when it fiiiiiiinally gets here… 😢
Yeah buddy!
I wish they made an Ohio bar with more aggressive knurling!
I think that might be pretty popular.
damn son straight flexing on Coop LOL
Have to go after the goat.
Have you tried the EliteFTS Power Bar? I've heard it has aggressive knurling that could tear up your hands when deadlifting, making it sound a lot like this Aggro 3x.
I made a video on it 2 weeks ago.
@@BasementBrandon Thanks Brandon, don’t know how I missed that. Thorough & insightful review as always, much appreciated as it helps tremendously with deciding what to purchase.
Honestly I wish I saw this video before buying my Cerakote ohio power bar. The bar tends to slightly slip while dead lifting and benching. Coop’s over exaggeration of how sharp this bar is made me not even consider the agro bars.
Likely has more to do with the Cerakote than the bar itself. I have the Ohio Powerbar and it is great in terms of knurling, but adding a layer of cerakote will make it less pronounced.
Yeah I try to avoid cerakote as a finish as it tends to dull the feel too much for my liking!
Would love to try but not available in UK and no 20KG version which is the only real version... Still looking forward to 2x review.
I am surprised they don't make a 20kg aggro.
@@BasementBrandon Guess they figure us Scots are already aggro enough.
I have a cerakoted Ohio Power Bar and the knurling is too passive for me.
Cerakote fills in some of the knurling and makes it more passive. It's not a good coating in that regard. Stainless is better for similar money.
Yeah, I'm not a fan of cerakote as a finish for that reason.
As the go to for the most reliable power bar reviews online, I sure hope you do the 2X, the more realistic bar purchase. I am trying to decide between the 2X and the SS OPB as my daily driver. Not enough reviews on a 2X before spending almost $1000 CAD delivered. Brandon, at what weight do you have to start chaulking for your oPB SS when pulling conventional?
We will see. I've been trying not to just buy Rogue everything, so $550 or so after shipping for a bar isn't very appealing right now lol. For chalk, I typically don't use it at home unless it's a 1RM attempt.
@@BasementBrandon Good to know, thanks! I take this as confirming that the regular OPB SS is sufficient for heavy pulls without chaulk(400-500 lbs)
I have the 2X Aggro Power Bar and had the Standard Ohio Power Bar with black zinc before. I use the 2X Aggro Power Bar as my daily driver and i like it a bit more because the knurling is sharper. + I like that it is stainless so the look stays the same. (as compared to the black zinc) Also the bigger collars on 45 lbs aggro bar work better for me than the 20kg version because i dont need to use extra clippers between the collars and weights for the overbuilt rack i am squatting in.
No chalk needed lol
no sir!
that cerakote parts with rogue logo - god why when shaft is already stainless??? not fan of either of them
I think just to further make it stick out. I'm surprised they didn't update the endcaps.
@@BasementBrandon i also dont understand why this should be more expensive than basic SS power bar.. its same bar just with different knurling pattern..
@@Chrontard Requires special tooling which needs to be changed out more often.
love your stuff.
Thank you!
Love to review man!! What is the comparison going to bare steel bars??
Bare Steel Equipment?
@@BasementBrandon yes sir. Hear their knurling is really good. Same with TPB.
I do have a BSE bar (blue collar) and the knurl is good! The reason I don't do a ton of videos on their bars is mostly due to them white labeling through Solid Bar Fitness, which makes bars for lots of people to resell, like EliteFTS.
Will it tear my thumb if I hook this 250kg for 10
Prob!
@@BasementBrandon shiiittttttt
