What you are showing are called IEM’s or in ear monitors. They will block external sound but their primary function is so the artist can hear with they are playing. A monitor engineer wears something similar and works with the artist to achieve a mix to the artist taste. Since they are ear molded they also reduce exterior sounds by up to -25 db.
@@moistschmeckles400 it just means its stupid, the explanation in this video is misleading because the thing thats being used by artists are IEMs, not earplugs.
Those are IEMs (in-ear monitors). Musicians use those for a couple of reasons; hearing their instrument isolated from the band, having a click track, boosting solo for lead guitarists, etc. Those are not earplugs, although they can block out the audience's noise, it has plenty more uses than just blocking out sound.
Stagemanager here, my brain farted when I heard it…. Yes, they do make special fitted earplugs, that is what some sound techs use on long and loud days. The performers use IEM’s connected to a beltpack or stationary device. 🙃
But those are in-ear monitors, not ear plugs. Well they are molded from the artists' ears to plug out noise, but they mostly function like earphones/earbuds where they hear clicking sounds like a meter to keep them on timing while singing, as well as cues and other instructions from the staff.
us musicians call those in-ears, they are just earbuds that fit better, not PLUGS. they play the backing track, metronome, and of course what your playing/singing. if you look closer at some of the images you provided you’ll notice there is a cord connected to the bud.
Because musician earplugs are not earplugs they are earphones that are custom molded to their ears, and it receives audio and it blocks out stage noise and gives them direct access to what their soundboard is hearing! Also, they don’t have to be that expensive. If you find a good company, you can get them for way cheaper.
The in ears? You can push something so that you can talk through your mic, and the rest of the band hears it, and they can do the same to you. You can also year yourself or make it custom if you let’s say want to hear more drums than bass
Artists dont use earplugs, they use IEMs (In Ear Monitors) they use them to hear themselves, follow the tempo of the song, and helps reduce hearing loss
Idk how you are so confident making this vid without knowing those are 2 diff things. In ear monitor are pretty much like "earbud", but for performers usually they're using custom one, molded into their ear. They're hearing click tracks or audio output like regular monitor in stage. This is why I hate tiktok/shorts feed
IEMs actually help performers keep to the BPM of thwir songs, tell them which song is starting and what part of the song, etc etc.. they usually can’t hear any of the audience or band!
That’s lit just iems which are fitted to the artist for their monitor mix so they can hear themselves and band/backingtrack they isolate all sound and are not earplugs 😂
As a drummer, i’ve been through a lot of these, from stopping during gigs or just exploding in my ear (yes that happened) these fun little fellas are called in-ears IEMs if you wanna be specific. And while yes they do make the music you’re playing a lot quitter that is only one of the many reasons they are used. I have 4 main reasons I use in-ears. 1. They make it to where I don’t go deaf while I play my very loud drums. 2. We’re lucky enough to have a click track in our ear (metronome) while we play so that we can all stay on time and none of us get fired from the band. 3. In some in-ears you can customize it to where you can hear one instrument/singer louder than another. This really helps you know what part of the song you’re supposed to be playing. And lastly 4. We all have special mics in or next to our in-ears that allow us to communicate with each other or our technicians. Sorry for the whole little lesson but now you know that in-ears do much more than make your music less deafening for you.
Those things the musicians are wearing are IEM (in ear monitors) they are just there to give them there voice back so they can hear themself (hence the monitor in the name) and give them a beat so the know that they are keeping the rhythm… also they hear a quiet raw playback of all other instruments that re playing … and only during breaks I nehme music they can hear the Audience
Their ear plugs completely remove the sound of the crowd and amplify the instrument or voice they’re using well still having the rest of the band in the background for just lower volume then their part. If they’re playing an instrument like guitar for example then they will have a metronome clicking too just to keep timing
These are in ear monitors. IEMs. Yes the "better" ones are custom moulded. They were designed for musicians to monitor what they're performing. This comes with the benefit of being able to have a quieter stage, which can not only help prevent hearing loss, but also reduce feedback issues. Yes they also reduce external noise, but they're used for primarily for monitoring than hearing protection
What the musicians are wearing in those clips aren't earplugs, those are In-Ear Monitors. Those are basically earphones molded to the shape of their ears to monitor their music during live performances.
musicians and artists wears ear monitor, which plays either clicks from metronome to a mix of metronome clicks and their instrument with mild other instruments of their band members
As a IEM user (on ear monitor) artist uses these to know the timing of thier songs and some just output informations. Artists IEMS are mostly over one driver so thats why its expensive *correct me if im wrong*
those are IEM earphones IEM stands for in ear monitors, they are bassicly just flat earphones, you can buy them for like 50 dollars, yeah they wont sound as good but they will be very similar ( plus you need to add the special bit)
It's two completely different things, you have ear plugs and you have in-ears, musicians/artists use those to listen to certain isntruments and control they're volume, they also can listen to cues, like the root note, for an accapella moment or just a metromone for when the drums aren't playing
