You must be crazy man. The moment he came in vs Newcastle, they created nothing. He keeps the ball for your midfield - an incredible and rare attribute for a modern 6 and 8. It’s the reason De Jong, Zubimendi are valuable - it’s an incredibly valuable attribute in the modern sport.

He already outlined Mainoo's greatest strengths which will make him a perfect fit for a Central Attacking Midfield role in the long run but definitely not a box to box midfielder.

You can see how effective the likes of Macallister and Szoboslai with Gravenbach taking the DM role this season in the Liverpool squad, also Tonali/Joelinton/Guimarez at Newcastle and the role Maresca is trying to fill Enzo into. Now, that's the major limitation in our team as there's no one playing that box to box role and that's why we keep on struggling in spite of the supposed balance and control Mainoo brings. Their home is central midfield; however, they're required to take responsibility for a variety of tasks, both defensive and offensive. They drop back to help out in defensive situations, intercepting, tackling, and blocking the ball, and as soon they win it, they're expected to progress the ball forwards and mount attacks. Now Mainoo might not have the biggest qualities from the defensive side, but how effective is his offensive game?? In the long-term, he'll definitely improve on those areas. But for now, we're still short of that in our midfield. It's no surprise we always lose the midfield battles in most games.

If he wasn’t good enough, Manchester United would be looking for a Mainoo replacement, as they are a LWB, RWB, cover CB, Starting ST. This is simply an issue YOU have with a 20 year old for not being exactly perfect CM right this minute. Thankfully my club is managed by Amorim.
