A absolutely beautiful and brilliant watch, I’ve owned my Gentleman with the blue dial and on the leather strap for around a year now and wear it everyday. This is my first mechanical and serious watch that i got after getting interested in watches and buying it definitely wasn’t a mistake. Great video as always!
Great video! My wife got me this watch for my ten year anniversary and I really love it! I’d say the pictures and videos don’t make justice to how the green color is experienced.
Thank you for this review. I wanted to buy the blue version last year as my first entry watch into automatic “luxury “ watches but went with a Tag Heuer Carrera day date with blue dial and blue crocodile strap instead. But I still kept looking out for the Gentleman. So today I saw the green dial in the duty free shop of an airport and it just clicked and made perfect sense. So as of today I am a proud owner of the Tissot Gentleman with the green dial and I am binge watching reviews on UA-cam. Just love this watch.
Hello fellow owner. Same with me. I was eyeing for the prx powermatic 80, but after I saw this beauty of gentleman watch with green dial just yesterday in a shop close to home, I knew immediately that I have to have it. This will be my new everyday watch.
I just purchased a TISSOT PRX AUTO green waffle dial - a few hours ago . I had seen it a few weeks ago - had been looking for that model at a few AD 'S in my area. received a nice discount. its been on wrist @ 6 hours - very very nice TISSOT watch. I have a small group of watches - this seems to be a nice piece. good looking bracelet - great price . ~ JDS/CT
Its the first time that i see on any internet content that the reviewer do not avoid showing the serial number of a watch on the warranty card. I never understood either why they hide it, but just highlighting it for your safety and your watches. I have loved your content! I bought a gentleman two months ago, and in fact I went today to Tudor to try the gmt! Very similar taste among us! Cheers and best regards from Colombia in South America
Hi. Great choice. I have the same watch. I bought it around Christmas. I got such a great deal on that I could not pass it up. To me Tissot is the best value in watches today. Wear it in good health and congratulations on the new job.
I saw one this morning - looks amazing hands on. Will likely be getting it soon. Update: I picked this up. It looks fabulous and as you say Andy in your review - it is so accurate it's crazy for the price.
Last week I ordered a Tissot Couturier from Jomashop only to discover that it wouldn’t ship until late August. So I canceled the order and I found a lightly used version on eBay for a measly 200 bucks (on a bracelet with the box!). Now I have many higher-end watches, but like you, I will treat this 80 hour beauty with care. I really your Tissot choice too! Maybe sometime down the road…
I know I'm late to the Tissot Gentleman party, but I recently purchased this watch to celebrate me passing my LMSW licensing exam. It should arrive in a few days. Looking forward to it.
thanks for the video...I just found your channel after searching content on the Tissot Gentleman Powermatic 80. I have the same watch (green dial) and must agree, this is a clean watch that I can wear with a business suit, jeans & button down shirt, or shorts & t-shirt. I get a lot of compliments about the watch and some people think it's a Rolex OP... Cheers to your watch and wear in good health!!
Thanks for the video. Recently got this watch as an anniversary gift, with Rose Gold bezel on leather strap and really happy with it! The accuracy is phenomenal. Set it over 2 weeks ago and since then has only gained approx 11secs.
Sounds about right.....mine runs consistently from 0 to plus one second per day (admittedly only a couple of times a month as I have a bit of a collection of watches).
The gentleman is an amazing watch!!!! Its hype kinda faded after the PRX came out but in comparison to the Hamilton Jazz master and Longines Conquest, the Tissots value can't be beat for what you get. To me, the gentleman reminds me of the Omega AT Green dial or a cheap date just. I sadly own nearly 100 watches and many are mud to low end luxury like Rolex, Tudor, Omega, Cartier and also have many like FC, ML, Hamilton and Tissot plus microbrands, Ali express homage watches and even a few replicas.... This is a very good video and wear what you like!!!! Your the only one who needs to care about the watch. No one else cares
I’m glad you mentioned the Longines Conquest. I’ve been debating weather I should get the Tissot Gentleman (green dial) or the Longines Conquest. Which one should I get?
I have been waiting for ages for this watch (with the green dial) to be discounted and have bought it today from Goldsmiths with a 30% discount bringing it to below £500. Well chuffed! I recommend doing that. Find the watch you want and then wait for the saving. When that saving occurs, swoop. Thanks for a great review. Like many others have stated, your reviews are the best.
@@TheEnglishWatch Yes, I have 5 Tissots, 3 Seikos, 2 Orient Stars and 1 Bambino and 1 Citizen and I have not paid full price for any of them. I could argue that I have saved over a £1000 but I would not be fooling anyone with that. It would be more sensible to only have one watch. I am done now though. No more watches! I have promised my wife.
@@TheEnglishWatch You were right. I promised myself and my wife I would not buy any new watches in 2022. I didn't even get through January. Damn H Samuel! Seiko Core watches normally £280 - £300 now being sold for £120. Beautiful quartz watches and too good to miss at that price.
Thanks for the review. Owning a GMT Coke, an Explorer and a DJ blue dial, I was considering enlarging my collection to a green dial watch. I’ve been positively surprised by the Gentleman..until I came across the Oris Aquis cal 400 in green..really impressive quality.
Wow had the exact same reaction with the PRX and my eye straight away then went to the green gentleman. It looked beautiful but maybe not that beautiful on my hand. And this was when I had just come out of another showroom having just tried on the Maurice Lacroix aikon
You have in my opinion one of the best collections I’ve seen maybe just because that would be my collection if financially I could afford it at the time great taste my friends
Very nice watches and very good time-keepers. My new Gentleman Blue has been so good to me.. only when I wear it. When worn it basically keeps within a second all day for three days in a row.. but when placed on the table dial up it gains 3-5 seconds a day as if it is sulking. Luckily I love wearing it. It looks sharp!
Great review and an excellent choice, I have just ordered one myself. I have 6 other watches with powermatic 80 based movements (Tissot, Certina, Hamilton(2) and Mido(2)), only two of which are chronometer certified. All but one are running well within COSC limits whilst being worn. Value for money, these Swatch group of companies produce some outstanding watches. One thing I find is that generally the advertising pics on their websites give a poor appreciation of the actual watches, doing themselves a great disservice. The only real negative re the Tissot gentleman is the high polished centre links. I guess if it annoys me enough I can always put it on a nice high quality green leather strap!
@@secordman Great choice if you can get it for a good price. The green dial is a little understated on this timepiece (it's not a 'sunburst' green), but that is not a negative in any way. Got mine today from Ernest Jones in Blue with silver bracelet for £540 (Perks of working for nhs lol), it is safe to say this is one of the best everyday watch in this price category. Obviously there are better choices if you want to pay more or get a VERY used lol
I bought one with a brown dial and a gold bezel. Yes, it is very accurate, on par with my COSC-certified watches, without the certificate or the price tag.
Very nice, I’ve been thinking about Tissot recently, mainly because of the PRX, but think the Lug to lug will just be too big. Going to have a look at the gentleman now. Thanks for the review. Cheers
Lovely. Tissot have alot in my sweet spot. Fluctuating between this and Seiko alpinist. Looked at Ballade too. Thank you for helping me decide in such a clear and helpful fashion.
Fantastic review! - and a brilliant, beautiful watch. Saw it at a jeweller and fell in love with it. Now I want to get this one or the Hamilton PSR. Probably will end up buying both. Curious about your future videos, really like your decent style 👍🏻
btw, was disappointed by the PSR because of lack of presence on my wrist, while the Gentleman is an absolute beauty - can't think of a better choice under 1000 £.
@The English Watch cheers mate. Going to go blue face with leather strap. Not that much of a fan of the gold, nor the full chrome look. But I do like the 20mm lug width. I'll just have to deal with the odd numbered 21mm 🤣
Hi Andy, very nice review. My Tissot Gent (blue with the black leather strap) arrives tomorrow after a great deal of research. Can’t argue with the value, look, quality and price ($655 for me). Anyway, subbed and looking forward to more reviews.
Super sports watch, quite versatile really, fits well using the half-links, and great looking, the green isn't OTT, but the bezel is fully polished, so a bit of pizazz, got mine for 540 gbp on a BF deal. Keep videoing, simple but info all there :). Note, that subbie looks dull as ditch water after seeing the Tissot !
This came onto my radar recently. Looking at Longines, Tag Heuer, Mido etc. I really do love the green, I'm used to wearing a 43mm watch so this size is fine. The crosshairs on the green give it some character. Now reading up on why some don't like polished centre links (scratch magnets? Too flashy?)
It’s funny, I have it in blue and I just say it gives all my other more expensive pieces heavy competition. It’s such a handsome watch, classic and serious value for money.
Looks quite a stunner for the price. I’m on the periphery of adding a Green dial watch to the collection, and this one certainly looks decent. Having to justify yet another watch to the wife hopefully will be a minor stumbling block, especially if I keep below 1.5k. I had a bb58 last month for birthday, so I may have to wait awhile.
What a beauty I’m really considering this watch in this green dial. I currently own the new Sea Star 1000 power matic 80 with the blue Sunburst style I just love it and get compliments almost every day when I wear it now I’m looking for a Green dial and really leaning towards either the Powermatic 80 gentleman or prx. Is two or three Tissot watches to many ?
@@TheEnglishWatch ya it’s really great .. I’m still having a hard time deciding between prx and gentlemen but I do know my next purchase will be the prx auto green dial
Now to your request of review commentary. Honestly, for the money there isn't much the looks that much better. There are different choices (not better or worse) and barring other indy brands that install miyota's and NH35's having the robotech of this watch is pretty nice. Honestly, a great choice and different enough from your current lineup to earn its spot in the collection.
Apple to an apple I’ll take this than Seiko Presage any day any time. The power reserve alone already a winner not to mention its price tag. Seiko is a good quality brand but recently it has been taking us for a ride. Lastly in this range bracket anything with 80hours power reserve is the best watch you can buy.
I have several high end watches and some microbrands. One of my nicer watches is the Harrod's Tudor. I also have an ocean crawler black and green so as looking for a mid range 'all green' watch especially as I used to have the Oris Aquis and Rado Captain 'greens', both of which I was missing. I went back to them and then saw this. I have researched it to death, sa your vid and got the trigger finger ready. Picked it up brand new for £545 at TIC watches on 4 x interest free PayPal credit - actually it was £550, cos I paid the extra fiver t get it next day - your fault for such a good sell. Can't wait to get it in the metal
Thanks. I’ve been looking at this watch and appreciate your review. As a side note, I also like that picture/artwork hanging on the wall in the background showing the earth. Can you give me some information about that?
This is available on the NASA website here: science.nasa.gov/resource/apollo-mission-flight-plan-1967/ I took the image to a local framing company and had it printed on canvas. You can buy them on Etsy, but it’s cheaper to do it yourself 👍
thanks for great review i have 2 qiestions please first can i wear this watch as casual or only clasic on formal suit? secound does this watch with green color restrict me to clothes of a certain color?? thanks
I’d say yes to the first, it’s pretty versatile, and no to the second, it’s pretty versatile. However, I’m a 50 year old bloke with a dubious sense of style.
Very strange… I was gifted the black dial gentleman as a wedding gift It came in a different box. Mine opens like a ring box, and the watch was secured around a pillow. My Tissot Carson Premium came in the box your did though
Originally I think the auto prx 80 was a sea star.and I think it has the same movement. The watch just mentioned looks 10 times its price.and build quality.
OMG i had forgotten all about the rock watch I like the packing with all the different logo's throughout the ages Some of the {lower tier} companies are making some GVFM Squale, Certina, Yema, Ball etc etc
I was going to buy this watch until I saw they released an open heart edition. Now I'm going to get that instead but it's still essentially the same watch
I searched at the time and found one for Goldsmiths. I think there’s one at the Watch Hut now. Use save125 to get £125 off. Not sure if it’s still valid, but worth a try.
It's huge on the wrist for a 40mm also the bracelet feels cheap and eventually will scratch very easy. I prefer the Tissot PRX automatic over this. Looks 10x more expensive, bracelet quality and dial is better. This watch should be released in 36mm, with a solid dial and a new matte bracelet.
can anyone please tell me, lets say 10 years down the line if we need to get it serviced then can it be opened to get a service or the back case is closed shut permanently?
Brands like Tissot and Certina give amazing value for money with superb quality. I decided a couple of years back to have only higher end pieces in the collection. The cheapest watch I have now is a Nomos Orion part from a GShock. This has proved a great decision because it meant I reduced the number of watches I have so they all get wrist time. It also stops me getting tempted by sub £1000 models all the time. I’m on a wait list for a GMT Pepsi and that’s the only watch I’m going to buy now. If I get the call great, but I won’t hold my breath. It means I may not buy another watch again!
Define higher end pieces? Is that by value? Going by your comments it is and the watch companies know this. Your GMT Pepsi might cost more but the value is not in proportion. Unfortunately there is a lot of look how much my watch costs snobbery in the watch community, compared to look at the value for money.

Which one do u prefer PRX or Gentleman
Nice reviews, not too much flowery yaking or stupid music. Cheers.
Very strange… I was gifted the black dial gentleman as a wedding gift
It came in a different box. Mine opens like a ring box, and the watch was secured around a pillow.
My Tissot Carson Premium came in the box your did though
What happens when you need to service it? I’ve heard you would need to send it to the Switzerland or something?
Originally I think the auto prx 80 was a sea star.and I think it has the same movement.
The watch just mentioned looks 10 times its price.and build quality.
Hamilton Khaki Field is an amazing watch!!!
OMG i had forgotten all about the rock watch I like the packing with all the different logo's throughout the ages Some of the {lower tier} companies are making some GVFM Squale, Certina, Yema, Ball etc etc
I remember that rock watch. An absolute monstrosity but it seemed cool at the time. And then we had those ghastly wooden watches...
Nice looking watch. I'd probably put it a leather strap though.
You buy on bracelet then change to whatever you want to wear. Works out cheaper as costs more to buy the bracelet afterwards.
@@garyboyle695 Very true
Love Tissot they make good watches
Hey! whats your view on the 18k gold bezel version? Is it worth nearly double the price?
It’s still a nice watch, but more is available at twice the price.
nice watch love that accuracy cheers
Great video to help decide to purchase. ⏳
Gorgeous watch
I'm green with envy 😁
These are £800 now, must be all the good reviews on UA-cam that popped the price up.
where did you get the brown leather strap for the Tudor GMT?
It’s the Tudor OEM strap. I bought it from the dealer with the clasp. Not cheap, but a nice alternative.
Tissot, please make these in 38mm
No.😄
I was going to buy this watch until I saw they released an open heart edition. Now I'm going to get that instead but it's still essentially the same watch
Hi Andy - where do you obtain your discount codes from? Thanks
I searched at the time and found one for Goldsmiths. I think there’s one at the Watch Hut now. Use save125 to get £125 off. Not sure if it’s still valid, but worth a try.
It's a snap on case back...I have the same watch in green
Mine would need to be on a strap; polished center links are the route to madness.
What app do you use to track the accuracy of the watch?
I use WatchTracker for iOS. It’s pretty good.
Just got one. Running consistently at +10 seconds per day. Not quite COSC.
I guess if it’s constant, then it can be regulated. It’s a shame as mine and others I know are spot on.
can anyone please tell me, lets say 10 years down the line if we need to get it serviced then can it be opened to get a service or the back case is closed shut permanently?
I understand that it’s a press fit case back, so there’s hope.
Is it too big?
Brands like Tissot and Certina give amazing value for money with superb quality. I decided a couple of years back to have only higher end pieces in the collection. The cheapest watch I have now is a Nomos Orion part from a GShock. This has proved a great decision because it meant I reduced the number of watches I have so they all get wrist time. It also stops me getting tempted by sub £1000 models all the time. I’m on a wait list for a GMT Pepsi and that’s the only watch I’m going to buy now. If I get the call great, but I won’t hold my breath. It means I may not buy another watch again!
This is my one budget watch. I’m with you. Keep numbers low so they all get a look in.
@@TheEnglishWatch and a great choice it is too.
Define higher end pieces? Is that by value? Going by your comments it is and the watch companies know this. Your GMT Pepsi might cost more but the value is not in proportion. Unfortunately there is a lot of look how much my watch costs snobbery in the watch community, compared to look at the value for money.
What a sensible man. I wish all these people drooling over Rolex's like zombies would think more like you.
Wrist size?
